I'm guessing this is a benefit for Susie Krampf, but I'm pretty sure there are people on this board more qualified to disclose details.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

This show should involve The Features, but I'm waiting for the appropriate folks (either the band or the family) to send me the details. Regardless of the lineup everybody should go to ths and hopefully more details will be posted about it soon.

Yes, here's the info:
Sunday, November 14th. 5 pm. Mercy Lounge. 18+. $10 cover minimum donation. All that information is true.
5 bands definitely playing: The Features. Laws Rushing. Whole Fantastic World. The Darling Hearts. Glass Lily. + possibly more.
The Features are definitely the headliners of the show, but get there early.
There will also be a silent auction....and the items will be good.

Now that this information is out, I guess everyone deserves to know why:
Katie (smee) and my mommy (also Craig Krampf the producer's wife) was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few weeks ago, along with lung cancer. The brain tumor has since been successfully operated on, which is good, but we're going to have to fight really hard to diminish the lung cancer. This won't be easy. But ya know...you just have to have faith. She is the best mom anyone could ever ask for, and an amazing strong, talented, beautiful, COOL person. Most of you have seen her at shows around town, rocking out.
The money will go towards her medical fund.
And we ask, please, no smoking at this show. We're not gonna run around yelling at you for smoking, reminding you that yes, it kills, but please be respectful and do it outside that nite if you're gonna do it at all.
People keep asking us if there is anything they can do. We appreciate it all. Just do this: please keep us in your prayers and thoughts, because we believe that stuff works. And if you're able, come out to the show. It's her 53rd birthday that day. Hopefully she'll be well enough to be at the show herself. And please tell all of your friends.
Thanks,
Courtney

I was making fun of my uncharacteristically misspelled (sp?) topic heading.

Yes, the show is at THE MERCY LOUNGE (not the Mecry Lonuge), and EVERYONE should go!

weehoo, we all hope lots of people are very excited about this. as you should be.

i am hand-printing posters for the show. they'll be for sale there (not sure how much yet....$10 at the most though). i took a photograph of one...the photograph doesn't transfer very well online but at least you can see the basic design. it's on my myspace profile at: http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseactio...=20041103212556

as of now i plan on making only 20. but we'll see...i could make more. if you'd like me to reserve one for you, email me at hapymelody@aol.com.
remember to pass the word along about the show.

Wowsers...just so happens Im going to be in town the date of the concert, and I am just DYING to see The Features live!
What were you thinking when you saw the light?
Were you surprised to find the world outside?
I felt so sorry for your little head
Was it depressing to just lay in bed?

Are the Features going to be doing any other shows locally (besides this one) before they go on their next tour? I really want to make this one, but it being on a Sunday night and having to work the next day isn't going to work for me. I really hope they have something else slated soon.

I doubt it. I assume they're only doing this show because it's a benefit for a great cause. Otherwise, their collective eyes are on Europe-- where they will most likely be better recieved and get huge audiences.

Damn, Damn, Damn! That sucks. The last time I tried to see them was when they were playing at Rhythm and Brews in Chatanooga. I had some friends from Nashville that were meeting me there(I live in Cookeville). Anyway, we booked a room and were all so hyped up about it, only to be let down because they cancelled. We were all so bummed! That damn hurricane! I went to school with these guys in Sparta (I graduated with Parrish)and it's been a LONG time since I've seen them play. I have seen them only two times, and that's when Don was in the band. I played basketball in college and never had many opportunities back then. Now I teach and weeknights are never good. I had actually gotten a sub for the Chatanooga gig when it was supposed to be on that Thurs. night, so when they changed to Tues. I couldn't lay out again. sad.gif BOO HOO! I am so sad. I want to see them so bad. Maybe I can try to make this one after all. Sorry for the ranting, I just had to tell you all my sad, sad story.

relax. the show starts at 5. There are 5 or 6 bands playing, so, assuming a late start, it will probably be over by 11. You'll be home by midnight. You may not get your coveted 8 hours of sleep, but you'll be fine.

Since there are so many bands, are The Features going to be playing a full set? I'd love to come, but I dunno if I want to drive from Knoxville on a Sunday night for 9 songs.

Yes, I understand. I just know that I'll want to drink and then I'll have to get up and teach 4th graders the next day. Since I want to see them soooooooooo badly, and it sounds like my only chance for this year, I 'll probably just end up gettin' a sub. I just hate having to miss work. I feel bad.

Yes, I was wondering this as well. Will they play a full set and are they the last band to play that night?

yes, the features are playing last that nite....i'm not sure what time they'll be going on, however. my guess is around 10. they will have at least 45 minutes to play, possibly an hour. so i think it'll be well worth it. plus the other bands are fantastic and the silent auction is going to be *awesome*, and i've heard there might even be a giant birthday cake there.......

i'm very excited about this show and this auction. and since i'm a little tapped out financially this month, my parents jumped at the opportunity to support such an excellent cause with a little cash for donation/auction. i suggest this to everyone. i bet your family or friends that couldn't necessarily make it to the show would be happy to send a donation through you. ask them.

Hey All,
I know we've been talking about this show for awhile now, but there was a really nice write-up in this week's Rage:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
S.O.S. FEST. With THE FEATURES, LAWS RUSHING, THE WHOLE FANTASTIC WORLD, THE DARLING HEARTS and GLASS LILY. Almost everyone playing tonight owes something to the Krampf family, and by giving of their time and talents they are doing their best to repay that debt. Whether it's father Craig, famed drummer and producer who was behind the boards for The Features and Laws Rushing, or daughter Courtney, who has provided hair cuts and friendship to nearly every act playing tonight. Or, most importantly, mother Susie, who has been the rock 'n' roll mom to countless Nashville musicians, a remarkable example to her three daughters, an integral part in many artists' lives during her 13-year tenure with manager Simon Renshaw (Dixie Chicks), and tireless supporter of her husband during their 31-year marriage. Susie was recently diagnosed with cancer, and tonight's proceeds will go to help defer those incredible costs. She's also been an amazing friend and second mother (not to mention mother-in-law) to All The Rage's Jason Moon Wilkins, who encourages everyone whose lives she has touched to come out and show their support tonight. 5pm, Mercy Lounge, $10 minimum donation, 18+.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thought that was nice.
Also, someone inquired about the auction items: For sure we've got:
- Haircut from yours truly at Salon Yaya, along with 2 other Haircut Gift Certificates from my coworkers
- Manicure/Pedicure Gift Certificate from Allyson Burke at Salon YaYa
- Facial Gift Certificate from Irene Popa at Irene's Face and Body Studio (dudes, I've had a facial from her, and it was fantaaaastic)
- Grimey's Gift Certificate and Grimey's T-Shirt
- Pink Spiders collection of cd's, vinyl, shirts, etc.
PLUS LOTS MORE!!!
That should be enough to entice ya'll though!!!
And yes, even if you're unable to attend, donations are still welcome!! Email myself at HapyMelody@aol.com, or DEAFSQUARE@aol.com

See ya'll there!!
