As much as I love the 4th "Your Smile," "Freebird" will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my graduating class' song, after all.

almost time for the reunion. (if we have one)

gotta go pluck some gray hairs now.

I think "Freebird" is a popular choice amongst southern schools. I remember that during my middle school's talent show my 8th grade year, they had half the kids dress in LaVerne clothes and the other half in Smyrna clothes. Then they played that darn Boyz II Men song and they all walked up to each other and hugged (symbolizing that they would be going to different schools). Very sappy. I may have cried.

Blue/silver clothes that say "LaVergne" and Purple/Gold clothes that say "Smyrna."

Wow, that's awful. The way that song was abused makes it odious to me.

I'm not even gonna count the amount of times I've been at a concert or a show, with some guy or chick yelling play Freebird!

I really hate it when your at a large venue, say AmSouth and someone is yelling for it. It's pointless, I'm thinking dude your on the grass huh.gif

Me either, but I'll tell you the worst: at Belle & Sebastian last year in ATL when they asked for a request from the audience & someone yelled "Care of Cell 44" and someone else yelled "Freebird" and guess which they played? Argh.

LOL The one of the my most memorable times was I believe at 328 Performance Hall when Our Lady Peace Played.. or was it another show my memory is so bad when it comes to which band played.. Misguided verify it for me lol..

Anyway there is this dumb chick that was yelling play "freebird". She also yelled I'm gonna be a star or something of that nature laugh.gif and she also was yelling about making them some CORNBREAD it was horribile, she was tryign to get back stage! I was like uh if she wants to give out Blow jobs then she should just say so and not try to disguise it in the code term of "CORNBREAD" lol we laughed our asses of at her all night. An she just got plain annoying after the first few minutes though. I felt sorry for OLP that night, and ashamed to be from TN sad.gif lol

Actually, they played "Sweet Home Alabama." But close enough...

By the way, I thought one of the funniest scenes in 8 Mile was when Rabbit and his buddy were rapping over "Sweet Home Alabama" outside of the trailer.

Does anyone on here remember the scene in "Con Air" yes con air the movie where nicholas cage played the southern mullet wearing kind criminal laugh.gif Anyway there was a scene when Steve Buscemi was the really psychotic passenger and he noted that the other criminals were dancing around and going wild and celebrating to "Sweet Home Alabama" while on a PLANE an how Ironic it was tongue.gif "SHA" has been used in a TON of movies whether it be in the background or just in the ending credits....

I swear I know songs sometimes just because I've heard them in the background of movies I have seen. Then I'll hear a song while shopping or something and I'll be humming it and stuff.. It's quite sad, and a very annoying trait I have.

First, JC, that was one of the funniest parts of 8 Mile.
Second, back when Con Air first came out on tape, I begged my mom to buy it for me. After watching it about 100 times during the boring summer that I lived in NC, I got kind of tired of it. Now, I try to figure out what I like in it. And, that, my friends, is John Cusack. My other favorite character is Steve Buscemi's (Garland Greene, I believe), although John Malkovich is quite good in that movie, too.
Third, SHA is pretty much the anthem at my old high school, probably b/c it's ERWIN. Then, there's the fact that lots of the parents of those kids listen/listened to it all the time. It's always amazed me how much kids are like their parents in Erwin.

God, I guess once you turn 24, the memory just goes. But then again you're 24 too. So I have no excuse except a blocked memory because of too much pain from the crap song. Remember those skanky girls who requested it and then didn't know more than 3 words? Double Argh.

For some reason, I've always enjoyed Con Air. It has a special place in my heart. Not for John Cusack, but for Malkovich and Buscemi. And that token black guy.

The story in Con is great its a good action movie! I think I like Steve Buscemi's little character the best, I loved the unveiling of him lol. They have so much hype about him in the movie then they bring him oh=ut looking like hannibal or someone and then you see Steve.. a scrawny little dude that just looks weird... but he made the character scary thoguh, just by those "looks" he put down on screen.
