Damn, damn, damn. I have to go all the way to fucking Lexington to see the Features. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. I may try using my patented slyness to get into the 12th & Porter show.

July 18th show at 12th & Porter - definite

July 12th show in Atlanta - possible. A road trip would be fun. I am actually ashamed to admit that I have never actually been into the city of Atlanta. I have just driven through it about a million times.

I will be sad to miss the July 4th show.

... huh.gif blink.gif ... do my eyes deceive me? Lexington, KY... w00t babeh! I'll be there most definitely, and hopefully I'll be at the 12th & Porter show... I probably won't make the one in Atlanta, though.

There's not really much else going on for the july 4th festival, so the features will most definitely be the highlight, but there will be food and vendors all over downtown that day.

At least it's not super-near your home, Token... That way you can say it was fate, or that you would have missed it anyway... or something.

Man, looks like I won't be making any of these shows. I wish the Atlanta one wasn't 21+. I would've loved to go with my sister and her indie rock accountant friend. I might see if they'll let me in with my sister as my guardian. Or we just might do the ID switch. It's a risky move, but when you look like twins it can be very useful.

I hope all who attend these shows have loads of fun!

well, i guess i'll have to make a trip to lexington, but I'm just lucky to be able to go period. Maybe since it's the 4th of July, they will do a cover of a patriotic song or something... yes, i know this sounds dumb, but i think it has potential.

by the way, you guys know rachel is gonna freak out when she gets back from fla....

That was evil. I went from ecstatic joy to utter despair. I never like driving far for shows...I feel like every time I do they feel like making it a "short" nite. Oh well, Lexington it is then.
Why would you do that?

So at this festival, the Features are playing from 4:45-5:45 pm at Phoenix Park. They are sandwiched between Big Fresh and The Mad Shadows. Has anyone heard of these bands?

I might also try to check out Phyllidia's Desert Dancers (belly-dancing), The Dixie Express Clogging Team, The Mighty Gospel Harmonizers (gospel quartet), Stairway to Zeppelin (music of Zeppelin/variety), and Roda D’ouro Capoeira (Brazilian Martial Arts). But we'll see...
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Well, what i meant was that there were some niche activities, but some people might not be into any of it. Myself, I'll be into the Bluegrass 10,000, because I used to like to run until I started smoking, but not everyone is going to be into that. I just thought I'd post the activities in case anyone wants to make a day of it rather than driving four hours for just the concert. *shrugs*

Thanks a lot for that link, dude. For a second I got all excited because I thought the Features were opening for Ricky Scaggs and Kentucky Thunder.

Lexington--Maybe
Atlanta-- Not likely (I'll be on the beach)
12th and Porter-- Hells Yes (the night before DND and Jetpack!)

back in october i tried to get in. i used the "i drove all this way!" because 12th and porter doesn't advetise that ALL shows are 21+. i thought i could use it to my advantage. it didn't work. i spoke to a few members of the band about getting me in... the management told them no...so that didn't work. i was determined to get in! while some guys were moving some equipment i managed to slip past through the back door. i was asked to leave during the 6-7 song of the features set. that still didn't stop me. i stood in the rain for the majority of the show and then slipped past the door again. it was one hell of a night. i haven't been back since.

so...i came to the conclusion that the more crowded the better. its easier to walk past the door person that way.
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

first of all, smooth move on having shows ready for me when i got back. wise decision (that im sure was totally because of me).

second, carl i hate you for getting me all excited about the fourth of july show. does anyone else think "what! they should be spending the holidays with us!" like they are family whenever they play out of town on a holiday? hmm.. me either..

im a little bitter about the atlanta show as well.

i will be at the 12th & porter show. no matter what.

when I got into 12th and porter one time I had gotten into a sound check thanx to the band and then a woman came around checking I.D's and taking up money when the show was about to begin and there was a much older woman I knew who saved me from getting kicked out... she told the woman who was checking I.D that she would be held responsible for me an not let me drink anything.. and It work so I got to stay.

Recently I went to another show there and I was a bit nervous.. I mean I was a month away from being 21. I had brought my sister's I.D with me just in case she's 23 an we don't look alike in my opinion.. I memorized her social..and expiration date.. and stuff just incase and my friends even called me Portia that night ( I hate her name lol) and when I got to the door the chick didn't even check my I.D. she took my money and stamped my hand blink.gif rolleyes.gif Iwas so relieved though. Also the entrance at 12th and porter where they check your I.D has a red bulb and it's a little dark.. it makes the I.D's look funny so even if she had to look at it I think I still would have gotten in.. it's worth a try.

I'd like to know how long the features are actually going to be playing at the Lexington thing since it's a festival. I mean, I really want to see them, but 5 hours there and 5 hours back would be a little much if this is just like 5 songs.
Why would you do that?

hmm, sorry i overlooked this..this doesn't sound very substantial then. 10 hours for 1? I don't know, and festivals of this sort tend to be unreliable. I guess I'll see what my impulse at that moment will be on the 4th.

yeah i know the feeling. i pulled 11 hrs roundtrip to see the clinic play in atl for a mere 35 minutes... but what a wild, wonderful 35 minutes.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

Lexington shall have my presence on the 4th. I just have to figure out who to go with. As always, I'm game for a little messageboard roadtrip if anyone is interested. (Just PM me.) And, I've never been to Lexington, so it will be a new experience. Yay.
