TOPIC: New Shows!
Posted  Saturday, July 6, 2002 at 1:32 PM
Post 1 of 51
I'm so pumped for the new shows, especially one that I won't have to drive halfway across the state to attend. In case I'm unable to go to all three, however, can any of you that have seen them at both of these venues comment on which would be the better venue: The Boro or 12th and Porter? I'm guessing that the Boro, being something of their "home stage" would be the better venue, but I'm not familiar wiith either place.

See you all at whichever one, I'm sure,

I am definitely at The Boro show. If I am fortunate enough to get to stay for the show at 12th and Porter, then I am there too. I have been to The Boro, and I loved the shows. I have never been to 12th and Porter, but according to others, it is a pretty good venue as well. The Boro will be 18+ I am sure, while the 12th and Porter may be claimed to be 21+. Who knows? If I am there, I am definitely trying to get in at the 12th & P show. That's just my input.

Being that the boro is homecourt they seem to always play long/multiple sets there. They have to use their own PA there and it is smaller than 12th an P, so the sound and visibilty are usually more desirable at the Snorter, although maybe not the crowd. Everyone gets into it at the boro. Hopefully I'll make both shows, although The Boro show is on a work night.

How "bad" is their own PA? Is the sound noticably bad?

No, it's not *bad*, it's just not quite as good as 12th and p, if that is the comparison to be made. I really enjoy shows at the boro, They definately sound good enough.

One thing this new site offers is a ranking system on the main board page, You are currently third in total posts with 376, behind Jamiecarroll and thelawnwrangler, I am fourth. It was more of a joke than anything else.

The Polar Bear has been known to cause me to do odd things (ramble on about how i "don't have enough money", pound the counter) but it is also a source of relief (after working on a term paper for four hours in the MTSU library the night before it's due). I hope they play the Red Rose soon, and I'm planning on attending the Boro show (my first 18+ show).

i can see why you would ramble about not having enough money after buying a polar bear- they're a bit costly.

as for it being your first 18+ show, congratulations on living this long. cheers! (nice =w= by the way).

...or casually open the wall, which is in fact a garage door. act like you know what you're doing, and hopefully nobody will say anything. i've found that acting like you know what you're doing is often times more important than actually knowing.

I know for a fact that when I went on May 2, the two guys who rode with Jenny and me went to the Red Rose for another show, and it was over before ours was (of course). So, they came back and waited outside for us. It was so funny though...Whenever The Features struck up Bumblebee they came inside. Anyway, I have seen people outside, though none were ever drinking.

I think I've seen people drinking on the patio... but maybe I'm just making that stuff up. I'm sure they'd want you to pay to sit out there, but it's probably pretty hard to enforce.

Have you ever sat in the booths at the Boro in the winter? It can get really cold. Cold air seeps through holes in the concrete block wall and settles under your table. It almost gets cold enough to make you get up and dance just to keep warm.

i'm pretty sure you're right, as they sometimes sell beer outside from a trailor of sorts. i distinctly remember a beer wagon.

ray davies- hope you're planning on going to some shows as soon as we get back to school. it seems that there are plenty to choose from.

I've snuck people in through the patio when they were carding outside. Apparently the people working the door don't care if you've had your driver's license taken away and therefore have no identification.

I hope to at least make the Boro show. It will probably happen.

As for ninjas, all their memorials were removed at the beginning of WW 2 and placed in holding camps. Since then, the American Ninja in War and the contributions that followed have been written out of Amherican History, despite Ninjan contributions in Viet Namn and the Gulf.
