TOPIC: New treat on the mp3 site
Posted  Sunday, September 22, 2002 at 3:09 AM
Post 1 of 25
So I added some fun to the mp3 site in the form of the entire 8-24-02 12th and Porter show. The quality is really something, and you get 20 of your favorite Features songs.

The songs are in the middle of the page, are at 192 kbps (nothing else is), and are titled as such: "The_Features_-_XX_-_SONGTITLE.mp3"

In my haste to upload, I forgot to include the show date, but you'll find em.

The mp3 site, since no one seems to have the link, is:
http://sweb.uky.edu/~klhaut2/music/

Enjoy it folks,

Will

Rawk!

I don't know why the student-web server was not letting us run any scripts for a couple of days there, but I am glad things are up and running again.

I added a few lines of code to include the track length, file size, and bitrate in the directory listings, too!

Have fun.

Are these MP3's taken from blightman's recording of the show? If so, we should give credit where it is due.

Indeed they are, and I meant to do that. The lateness of the moment, it being 3 am and all, and I simply forgot. Thanks for keeping me on track, TF.

Yes, this show was recorded by blightman, and he worked amazing wonders, as you can all probably tell. It sounds amazing.

blightman does a good job. Knowing that he didn't tape this most recent show makes me think that I need to collaborate with him and get the shows in town he doesn't get.

It was not me who added it, though I'll probably be blamed or praised for it, but check out "What's the name..." at the bottom of the page. It's very funny, and it references a topic I started a while ago about the name of a certain song.

Quick note everyone. I uploaded jamiecarroll's favorite obscurity, "Harold." This is from the already-legendary Blue Cats show from 8-30-02, and from blightman's formidable recording of said show.

Download it, this song is amazingly cool.

Kudos for getting the 12th and Porter show out in such a short time and with such great quality! I hope people are enjoying the website. I am having a blast teaching myself to code. (Check out recent changes!)

I am now way, way past the "hard" limit for file storage on the university's computer. I really don't want the InfoCops to shut us down. So, until I have more disk space available, I am going to have to start wiping out the uploads directory on a regular basis. I will maintain logs and archives of everything that gets uploaded, and I would be happy to repost requests, should anyone miss one of their favorites.

Please give me your feedback, etc., on the site design and functionality.

I put up 2 songs from the 5-4-2001 show at the Boro. This was one of the very first shows that Blightman ever taped. His recording rig was not so great back then. Hence, the quality is low. I uploaded 'I Won't Let You Down' and an interesting older version of 'God Save Rock'n'Roll'. Enjoy.

The song didn't really need it, but that bridge in GSRnR was pretty damn cool.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I Won't Let You Down is only 8 seconds of crowd noise...

You're right...it is. It looks like not all of GSRnR made it up either. I'm sorry. I tried it again, but no luck. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The mp3s of those songs that I have on my computer are full-length. I guess I'll try again later. Any suggestions?

After you click upload, are you letting the page refresh on its own?

I suppose so. I click 'send' after I've browsed to get the right file in the box. Then the rest happens automatically.

For what it's worth-- I think the recording of Harold is cut short. Or do they jump abruptly into another song.

By the way, that's a pretty good one. I don't believe I've ever heard it.

You're right. I'm trying it again. Its running time should be 3:56.

And yes, its an amazing recording (go blightman) of an amazing song.
