Well, even months before the EP came out on Universal there was mention of video for "The Beginning" on the website. (I think there were pictures of it in the photos section) So perhaps he is referring to that.

The Features shot a new video this past weekend for "A Million Ways to Sing the Blues. " The video will air on MTV UK almost immediately (believe me almost immediately, we're cranking out the rough cut as I typed this) and should air in the US in a few months (after "The Way It's Meant To Be" has had its run).

Transfer facility, eh? So I'm assuming film was shot for this one? 16 or 35? What stocks did you shoot? I want all the gory details.

Just got back from the Kodak Vision2 Chicago launch where I got to look at the new x212, x217, and x229 stocks. And I got some tests lined up for 12 and 17. In any case, I'm in the production mindset. Good thing too, because I'm ACing for John Bailey ASC the next two days for seminars he's doing here.

Gorey details? How about a classic Arriflex BL2 to capture the modern retroness of the Features using Vision2 500t 5218, and a full set of cookes and zeis. Mainly worked on the 58mm and the 18.

the 5218 is amazing... I'm talking NO GRAIN. The colorists was impressed. Our neg was so clean the blacks turned to milk before they would break up.

Cookes... ahhh tasty. Yeah, I've enjoyed my limited experience with 7218, I imagine in 35 you're flying high. I'll let you know how my tests of 12 and 17 turn out. They seem to look IDENTICAL to 18, which is both good and bad. I like having choices. Oh well. The new stocks are being made for DI, which is great if you can afford it or are going to video. I will say that the 7212 (Vision2 100T) Super16 blowup looked better than alot of the older 35 stocks in terms of grain. That was really something.

Not much news, but a little. I sent off for final delivery on the Features new music vid "A Million Ways to Sing the Blues".

I'm quite excited/proud of it. The guys did a great job performing and dealing with the tediousness that comes with a film shoot. Universal is very happy with it as well.

A good time was had by all!!!!

Now I'll let BW field all questions pertaining to "When can I see it?" and all derivitives hereof.

OMG! I hope that it has, like, Matt Pelham doing a 20-minute bow solo like Jimmy Page in "Song Remains the Same" video. Then I hope that like, they're all on fire and running around. Did Alicia Silverstone show up in them like she was in those Aerosmith videos? What about other celebrities?

1) yes, its the extended dance remix
2) yes, after a tragic accident where a tiki god was upset, Rollum now has no hair on 87% of his body
3) AS never showed up but sent Liv Tyler instead
4) There is a small cameo by the ghost of Herve Villechese

The video is off to the UK where it will be used in various ways, including appearing on MTV UK. Eventually it'll air here, but as you should know The Features have a video currently making the rounds on MTVU and elsewhere on the net. Supposedly, in May, "The Way It's Meant To Be" video will be added to MTV2. I'm reminding the managers everytime I see/speak to them to give me the date it'll start running as soon as they know it.

The show re-airs tonight: Mon, May 10 @ 2:00 AM.

This is Eastern time.

The video was suppose to be on last week and we found out after the fact, but didn't know it was going to be featured on this week's show.

So watch/record/TiVo tonight's show to see The Way... in full vivid color.

they just played it. it was the last video they played. it looked great. really really great.
Damn. I watched Subterranean for the last 4 weeks hoping to see it (TWIMTB) and missed it this week...twice (The show airs both Fridays and Sundays). Oh well. Anyone know if the video (TWIMTB) will be added anywhere else in the MTV2 rotation. Or Fuse's Oven Fresh?

I thought Peacefrog said he's seen it on MTV2 from time to time and I'm assuming that it's not just on Subt. Chad can weigh on that if he wishes...

Who's Chad?

I've seen it once on MTV 2... that was about 10-12 days ago.. it may have been Subterranean, I really don't know, I was flipping back and forth and saw the tail end of it.

Yeah, no kidding. You'd think that if this "Chad Denning" person really liked the Features he'd be a board member. What a bastard.

So I just watched the video for "Million Ways To Sing the Blues".

It is quite good, even better than TWIMTB. Kudos to all those involved in the production.

Yeah, I know what's on my site. Since my site's original domain went down a month ago and I have a completely new one I was kind of wondering if you were watching it there and that someone must have pointed you in that direction. My concern isn't that anybody's watching it, it's the bandwidth I pay for each month that's getting tasked. Which means basically we need to have the damn thing playing from thefeatures.com domain and not mine.

So uh, I didn't have the patience to look through all the posts, but I figured if anyone was going to say that the video for There's a Million Ways to Sing the Blues is on the website under "Video," it'd be here. If this is old news, feel free to call me an idiot.

Very good song, very good band, very good video. I like this Denning guy.

Indeed, I like the video. It's done very stylishly, though my sister and girlfriend both thought there were not enough shots of Rollum in it (my girlfriend is quite taken with him).

Sadly, despite my buying four copies of the single, it did not make the Top 40.

Drat.

Damn, that's a sweet video. I always notice something new everytime I watch it.

I'm really glad to see both videos are on the site now. I was expecting that they would keep the new one under wraps while they were making it available for purchase on the new EP. My guess is that they caved when they heard so many people on the messageboard and elsewhere really wanting to see it. We should all praise Daigle for this gift from above.

Once again, great job Chad and Brian (and Steamgrate)! We'll be looking for it on MTV in no time!

I took a film art class freshman year and we watched a portion of a ballet in which the dancers all wore white and held screens that caught projected images of themselves. I can't remember the name of it or who came up with it, but it was a really cool effect. I got a C in that class.

No, he wasn't, they were wearing make-up that was about a 1/2 to 1x lighter than their skin to reflect back their projected images better. What you are seeing is probably just the double red effect of his lips plus the contrast of the make-up.

I think one of my favorite things in the video is the CU of Roger's bass. There are some shots where it's just his projected image playing, but it totally looks normal. And of course, the shot of the chimpanzee behind Matt in one of his close-ups, because, dammit, monkeys is funny.

If anyone listened to my radio show this morning, then you heard my thoughts on the video since I saw it for the first time then. Basically, blown away. Amazing. I wasn't too thrilled with TWIMTB (it was good, yes, but not great). This, on the other hand, is just absolutely brilliant and bloody original. Amazing. Stupendous.

i recognized a couple of the videos playing in the background from Mystery Science Theater 3000 shorts.
i think one of them might have been The Kitchen Of Tomorrow and the clip with the male and female cheerleaders is from The Home Economics Story.
oh, awesome video by the way.
