Okay, Keith, I totally agree about the mental expectations you get when you see a bass player with a 5-string bass. It's the same for me. I think that that expectation stems from the fact that all of the bass players who overtly flaunt their technical prowess and are very "showy" tend to play 5-strings. I don't think I need to name names. Like Keith, I'm not saying that
all 5-string bass players are this way, but the stereotype does have a basis. 007, I didn't get a close enough listen to your bass playing to have an opinion on it.
A furniture bass is, quite literally, a bass that looks like a piece of furniture. It is not painted a color, and often does not have a pickguard. It just has that "wood" look, and it almost always has more than 4 strings. It is not made by one of your big names (Fender, Gibson, etc), but rather by a smaller company.
