TOPIC: One Post with all The Features b-sides...

I think it would be a great idea if there was one post that put all the features songs together. That way new people [like me], won't have to search all over the site to find the recordings. I read that there was a website with all the songs on it, however, upon clicking the link I found that it does not work. Any rare features songs that you can post would be great. Hey, Lou anyone? Any songs would be amazing, since I am just starting to build my collection of The Features songs.

Is there any place I can download all these songs?

No. That's a start. There are so many others that were never recorded (to our knowledge anyway) but are documented in bootlegs.

I don't think I've got any of the Krampf Sessions. I've always wondered how these studio sessions became so "widespread." The the band give them out, or was it something that got leaked?

The band gave them out to friends, and the friends shared and shared. I actually don't have the Krampf sessions. Is that track listing correct? I didn't expect "The Design" or "Damage Is Done" to be on there.

All I've ever had from those is what was on the old player. I compiled the "tracklisting" from old posts and such where i think someone else had listed both the design and damage done. i'm not sure its ever been clearly stated what exactly was on these sessions though. One thing i forgot to list was a studio version of GSRNR, i'm not sure where it came from though. Could have been a b-side from exhibit a or something. There's plenty of people more qualified to discuss this than me however.

Rawlings Sessions
Once upon a time, there was a discussion here on the message board about whether Jason Rawlings (of Self) or Brent Rawlings was the producer of the Rawlings Sessions.

Recently, I was surfing for gay porn over at The Katies site, and I discovered that they recorded with Brent Rawlings. If Brent Rawlings was recording with them, it seems to make him the likely candidate for The Features' Rawling Sessions as well.

(Also, for all the light-hearted jabs I take at The Katies, I have to give them credit for letting fans download unreleased material from their website. It's something I wish The Features would do.)

Good work, TF!

And good call on the gay porn remark!

I thought the Krampf sessions turned partly into the Exhibit A.

I would love a studio version of GSRNR, though, I love that song.

Krampf did do Exhibit A (along with Mike McCarthy), but I believe the "Krampf sessions" we're speaking of were done previous to that (without Mike and in TN rather than MS). This was the source of some of the alternative mixes of some B-side/promotional songs. For example, I think an earlier mix of Blow It Out was used on the SxSW site while an early mix of Someway, Somehow (RIP) was used as the B-side for The Way.

Wasn't the purpose of the original Krampf sessions to give the band some material to "shop around" to the labels? I think they wanted some of their current songs in a polished format so the label reps would have a better idea of what they'd be getting.

The unreleased album that the Features recorded in 1998. It's working title was "the Features," and the tracks from it that have surfaced were D-Con (Radio One), Paid to Think, Thursday, and Rabbit March.

They were recorded by Richard Dortch, hence the name. The working title of the album was "The Features."
