I'm interested in seeing what others think will make the cut for the upcoming album.

Here is my list of 12 in no particular order:

1. Mosis Ptosis
2. Temporary Blues
3. Arcata
4. Hold You Alone
5. Drawing Board
6. I Will Wander
7. Foundation's Cracked
8. Gates of Hell
9. Concrete
10. Now You Know
11. Wooden Heart
12. Complication

Looking at these newer tracks, I have a feeling this album is going to be ridiculously awesome

That sounds good.

I was hoping there would be a little Love is Golden on there, but that one seems to have been shelved.

Looks pretty reasonable to me. I see you have Drawing Board, but what about the other demo-- Take You On? And maybe Lions Dressed in Leather?

I think the lineup looks pretty diverse, but Exhibit A is going to be pretty hard to beat in my mind.

We'd had a very long time to internalize and get used to the songs on Exhibit A before they even recorded it. With this album, if they record it this summer, they still won't feel as tried and true as the Exhibit A songs did. Mosis Ptosis and Temporary Blues are probably the exceptions to that. Even if they surprise us with lots of new songs, this album is going to be so much more diverse than Exhibit A. And I think that will be great.

I would think that including a new version of it on the UK "Exhibit A" would knock it out of the running for album 2.

Of all the songs on Vernie's list (which is a very good list), I think "Wooden Heart" is the least likely. To me, it still feels like a song they're toying with instead of a solid fan favorite.

My hunch is that this recent batch of songs they've been playing around with live are the songs that were specifically written with the next album in mind. I could be wrong-- like I said, it's just a hunch.

The first 8 or maybe even 9 songs I had on there I thought have a pretty solid shot at making the next album. The latter 3 I thought could definitely be interchanged with any one of the new songs they are recording. Wooden Heart and Now You Know have been getting a lot of play recently, but Complication may be too similar to Concrete somehow.

I didn't include Take You On, because the blog entry included with its demo release really gave me the impression the band wasn't too interested in playing or toying with it anymore. This is especially due to the fact it did not get played much to begin with, and I don't think the heavy keyboard fits in quite as well with some of the others. I do like the song; however, If I had to guess I'd say the demo was the "finalized" version but who knows....

...I think the album version and demo version of Drawing Board could end up sounding a bit different instrumentally. This prediction as well as the fact its a growing fan favorite and has seen a lot of play recently is why I have included this ove Take You On.

I also didn't include Lions Dressed in Leather because it seems to be in too much of an experimental stage, and thus somewhat obscure.

I included Temporary Blues because it has been played at just about every show it seems since Exhibit A came out. I don't know why they haven't released it before, but I think it has sort of a funky sound that fits in with some of the new stuff. However it could be too old, and perhaps they just really enjoy playing it live. I think its a safe bet that you won't see Love is Golden, Darkroom, and sadly enough not God Save(hopefully, a b-side for some single) on the next album.

I'm sort of surprised though that no one has questioned the inclusion of I Will Wander which is still newer than a lot of the rest on there. I guess most everyone accepted it into the rotation without hesitation.

And I've said it before, but if Thursday ever gets put on an album, this is where to put it.

thursday is most incredible when live though. i'd be scared of (new?) recording going out to the masses.

I think it should be a live B-side myself.

I’ve no predictions, just a desperate plea for the following songs to be
released in one form or another, as I’m fairly certain that they’ve at
least been demo’d over the years.

1.     Long Way Down
2.     Action
3.     God Save Rock ‘N’ Roll
4.     The Damage Is Done
5.     Burma
6.     Love Is Golden
7.     Harold

I realize that this is a selfish list of songs that are not likely to be on the
second or any album. But hey, how about B-sides for album two or
MySpace streams? Anyway, thanks for the music that has been released
and keep that new stuff coming.
