TOPIC: Random Thoughts. . .

What ever happenned to the random thoughts from the band section? I always thought they were an entertaining thing to read in between the real updates. Which leads to my next question... the band isn't taking another concert break are they ?

1) From what I can surmise, the members of the band have traditionally had little interest in the whole internet thing. I think this is extremely unfortunate, because I feel even a small amount of input into the site would do wonders for their fanbase. (In fact, our Features-related posts would possibly skyrocket from 0.5% to 10% or even more!) From what I can tell, the webmasters here have gone out of their way to make it easy for the band members to add updates, but to little avail. I've urged Roger on more than one occassion (sp?) that he should contribute more, but his computer access is limited.

2) I've heard that the band has been focussing on some studio work lately. I don't think I'm at liberty to divulge anymore on the subject...

I bet that there will be another list of dates by the end of the month. I have nothing to back this up, but they typically play very little in the summer and then a lot in the fall and winter.

i sure do hope so, there are really very few things that get me excited like a good features show. I know everyone has probably got halloween plans already, but a halloween themed show would be a blast in my opinion. . . of course i'm sure this idea would equally annoy others.

I hope they don't, because then I'd be torn between seeing them and DND, and I'm not to where I could make that call very easily.

Word on the street is that the Features couldn't play said show with DND, because Pelham wanted to take the kids trick or treating. My informant at the Enquirer slipped me that juicy little tid-bit. So, rest your worries about debating which show you should attend. There will only be one.

I just heard there's a possible show the 19th, but it's not confirmed yet.

Ill be in town for The Weakerthans at The End on Saturday night, so that would be perfect.

Is DND really THAT good? I don't believe I've ever heard them. They must be great if you have a hard time choosing between them and the features. . .

By the way, I didn't know the features ever played Sunday shows (19th)

Once in a while, the Features play a Sunday night. I may have seen them once on a Sunday.

As for DND, they have been steadily growing on me since I bought the EP in May. Features' sets have become more and more predictable and less and less unique as time has gone by, so seeing them every single time they play has slowly lost some of its appeal. DND sets are new and fresh to me.

The Features (though I still hate them) are my favorite band in Nashville. However, I would have a hard time choosing between them and DND on a given night because I have seen The Features I would say at least 50 times. I have probably seen DND a good 15 by now too, but they are still pretty fresh with me.

More importantly, and I don't want to sound like one of those "I wish they were still MY band" guys, but I just don't enjoy going to Features shows as much anymore because of the crowd. Not because they dance or pump their fists a certain way, but just because I am uncomfortable in crowds. It makes it hard for me to enjoy shows when I have no personal space. I had to leave the Ben Folds show and almost left the Flaming Lips show at Uptown Mix because of it. I still enjoy going to Features shows here and there, but it has become too much of an "event" for me to catch every one now.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Many of these comments support my theory that The Featuers message board is slowly becoming the De Nova Dahl message board...or is it the Sina/Stopforme/anyboy else who wants to start controversy/DND message board? wink.gif

Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no problem with De Nova Dahl. I enjoy them. It's just an observation that I've been making for quite some time now.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

True, there is lots of DND discussion here, but I think it's mainly the result of a Features dry spell. Give us a few shows where everyone can attend or a juicy new rumour and things will pick up for true Features discussion.

I completely agree. People just want to talk about stuff and when there's no Features material, something else will be the top of conversation. Well put YDDD.

no, not yet. i haven't talked to the friend of mine who told me today. he's a dj for the buzz, and said they would possibly play sunday the 19th at Buffalo Billiards for some sort of station thing....i'm not sure if the features even do that often, etc...or if it's just talk. he should know in the next day or so, and I'm sure I'll talk to him before that, so i'll keep ya updated...
it seems pretty short notice, though.

I'll second your agreement RD. That was one of the main reason I started this thread to begin with. All we need are a few updates, no matter how small or insignificant, to get people excited (me included). Granted, there might not be much going on in features land that they want us fans w/o connections to know, But would it hurt to add something new every week or two? Hear me out, I'm not complaining or trying to start stuff - It's just an observation. Either way, once things "officially" start happening there will undoubtly be a flood of new and exciting things to discuss.

I would assume that would be a similar set-up to the radio show Verde and the Hot Pipes did a few weeks back. They played in the upstairs portion of BB (the Havana Lounge) to an audience of about 20. (For those who don't know, this is a bar on 2nd Avenue in downtown Nashville.) Each band only played 3 or 4 songs for the actual show, but Hot Pipes played a set before they went on the air and Verde did a short one afterwards. There was also a very crude 1 minute "interview" that left everyone feeling a little uncomfortable. The cover was $3. I think it was 18+.

I don't really see The Features doing something like this. I figured the point was to get a band's name out there, which they don't really need locally in my opinion. Of course, I really hope it does happen.
