TOPIC: Red Rose - February 28
Posted  Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at 2:48 PM
Post 1 of 66
The Features have announced that they will be playing at the Red Rose on Friday, February 28. Not only does this mean that the weekend show has returned, but it also means that I will be getting a healthy heaping of the Features on my birthday! Woohoo! Here's the real story...I will be throwing a birthday party at the Red Rose on Feb. 28. After much deliberation, I decided to ask the Features to play instead of Lawrence Welk and his Champagne Orchestra. Though I know that Lawrence Welk is a favorite of everyone, the Features won out because I know that they will play longer (they cost less). There will be beer at this party, but you'll have to be 21 and you will have to purchase it yourself. Also, there will be a cover charge. In summation...Rob Rickman Birthday Party Bonanza Extravaganza w/ The Features on Friday, February 28 at the Red Rose in Murfreesboro. If you're lucky, you might get to see and hear Ray Davies play the blues-harp! Come on, bring a friend, better yet...bring two friends and join me, Rob Rickman, at the Rob Rickman Birthday Party Bonanza Extravaganza! See you there!

I was just thinking how nice it would be to go to the Red Rose for a show soon. Too bad that it probably won't be warm because an outside show would have been even better. Nevertheless, I can't wait! And happy upcoming birthday, richarddawson. smile.gif

Think "World's Fair" meets "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve" meets "Million Man March", only swap black rights' activists with teenagers in mod/post-punk clothing. Actually, Al Sharpton may be there...Nevertheless, thank you for your birthday well-wishes. They are greatly appreciated. In return, I will have the Features play your favorite song for you. I am currently in talks with Har Mar Superstar and Robert Goulet, who will likely open the show and duet their favorite Features songs! How exciting!

That almost offends me.

On a separate note...Where is it you get these concert recordings? Ah yes...

Thank you, thank you...Survey says that you too will get your favorite Features song played. Not only because you wished me a happy birthday, but more importantly because you actually know who Richard Dawson is. On a separate note...What you quoted from me has since been deleted, because it was a bit too sarcastic. I did not want to create any trouble. Anyway, thanks again and hopefully you too will get to enjoy the musical stylings of Robert Goulet & Har Mar Superstar as they duet at the show(with featured blues-harp extraordinaire Ray Davies!!!).

hey, i know who richard dawson is! alright, maybe it's because of digsy more than in addition to digsy. let's not nitpic. all that's important is that he loves the ladies and the ladies love him.

and wasn't alfie's friend from "my brother and me" named goo? or maybe that was the other brother's friend...? and why do i care?

Damon Killian, Corporal Peter Newkirk, Dickie, Tracy Rattigan, Colin Emm, he is a man of many names...all of them cool.

Ah and since I'm getting a Features song played now, I want "Jurley"! ohmy.gif

Sorry, dude, I'm really more of a box social kind of guy.

I had an art teacher named Richard Dawson once. He was a great art teacher, but man, what I wouldn't give to have heard him say "survey says" before critiquing the art projects. Or something like, "we've taken a survey of the class, name the top 5 things you can do to improve your drawing."

Was he a fan of the three-piece-suit as well? I assume he didn't kiss all the female students since mono is so popular amongst that age....and because that's "against school policy."

Isn't that place always all ages? It was last time, you could tell by the group of dipshits blowing smoke in their non-smoking friend's face and punching eachother in the arm when offended. I felt like finding a bendy-straw for my beer.

Also, it probably will be all ages. Ray Davies told me that they usually are.

Oh, yeah. And one of the two was deployed to Iraq. Even better. sad.gif

When I say Birthday Party Bonanza Extravanganza, I don't lie! Damn, that was a rock n roll show if I've ever seen one. I know that Robert Goulet and Har Mar Superstar weren't there with Ray Davies on blues-harp, but Eleki Bass and 63 Crayons with Ray Davies on Sleigh Bells and Tambourine was even better! Thanks for all of the birthday well-wishes, Stalker being the most recent and I'm glad that everyone got to have a kick-ass time at an event that happened to coincide with my birthday. It was awesome and most definitely lived up to the "best birthday present ever" moniker. Strangely enough, I think like four or five people were celebrating a birthday yesterday. At one point, some girl tried to weasel her way past me because it was "her birthday and she deserved to be closer than me". Ah, sweet irony.

I had an enjoyable time at the show. I loved all of the bands of course the features rocked it as usual. I thought I wasn't gonna have a good view of the band, because I got there a little late, but I weaseled my way to my normal spot right in the front near Roger. biggrin.gif Short FOLK rule! There was and unusualk amount of tall people at the show though huh.gif I've neer seen so many elbows in my life!
