ok, so here's the deal. there is not technically a "features show" on saturday night. however, the features are involved in playing in a benefit show for the red rose in murfreesboro. it's a kind of "save the red rose" show. the features are playing and there's a guy brian playing with them and the lucky guns are playing and someone else. they are raising money solely for the red rose. but i think they really just don't want it looked at as a "Features show" but more something that all those groups from that area are doing to help keep the Red Rose open and running. so, i'm sure that it would be great to have as many people come as possible to support the red rose, but not just to see the features and leave and then skip the exit/in show (not that anyone would be crazy enough to do that). so, you should go if you want, but go to support the red rose who always supports the features and help to keep them in business, not cause you think it's gonna be a normal features show. i guess they just want it to be just a thing they're involved in instead of that they are the center of attention. and then everyone should come to the exit/in show because it's gonna be awesome! one more thing, this benefit show, it's not AT the Red Rose though, it's in the square in the boro at bingham barnes' (of glossary fame) house. saturday night. so go out and support the red rose and get to hear great music at the same time. tongue.gif

I am so down with saving the Red Rose since it is one of the coolest places in the Boro area, but if we're supposed to save it, where do we go and what time? Are we supposed to just get in our cars and drive around the square and listen for the music? I would love to make fliers and advertise this since I know a lot of people would be interested in saving the Red Rose, but we need more info.

I'm sorry I can't help you guys out any further. I would recommend maybe calling the Red Rose or stopping by to see if they have a flier/ad about it.

I wouldn't count on it. Their website (www.redrosecoffee.com) says absolutely nothing that I can find about the show. If they need money so badly, maybe they should advertise it. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but it's very frustrating that an establishment would have a website and not keep it current.

yes, i am also very confused as to why there is a benefit to save the red rose that no one knows about. i'm also confused as to why it's being held at a house and not the red rose itself. i would love to support the red rose in any way i can and would love to come to this benefit, i'm just confused about the location facts and the logic. if anyone else is less confused than myself, please post some info. thanks.

According to a representative of the Red Rose, the location is as follows...

Go to the square in Murfreesboro, which is Church Street I think. Theres a bar called Sports Planet, the concert is 2 or so doors down in an apartment above a flower shop. The guy that owns the apartment is Bingham or something like that. The benefit will begin around 9 or 10. Be there!

i know all the details but i don't feel like disclosing any of them at the moment. and yes the 'show' is at someone's crib. and not to sound like an elitist asshole, but i'd feel weird showing up at someone's party that i wasn't friends with (or didn't know) or if i were a complete prude that wasn't into the scene at all.

Oh well, I was under the impression that this was a party to save the Red Rose and donate money to save a public place that many of us enjoy going to. Oh well. I'm no where near elite so I guess I just won't go. I'll miss the Red Rose.

maybe bingham wants the red rose shut down. i mean he didn't advertise for this benefit show. it's not in the scene or in the rage. it's not on the website. his address isn't in the phone book.

but hey, since bingham b. and michael a. told you to invite everyone to their party then who am i to determine whether or not they should go.

I heard that the reason why there has been no promotion for this benefit is:

1) It was put together on short notice

and

2) Bingham does not want the cops to shut the benefit down before it even begins....

because the people who told me about it were not sure where bingham's apartment was, and i did not want to lead people on by telling them a wrong address....i knew the place ...just not the address....which is something YOU apparently knew, being the almighty insider that you are....at least I let people know about the benefit, instead of keeping all the precious information to myself like some people mad.gif

ok...after reading those two pages of shit, i would like to state, first hand what is going on.....hear me thru

the previous owners of the red rose didnt pay taxes for 5 years and the IRS is looking for $10,000 to reimburse.

as of feb.7th if at least 2 grand is payed, the doors shut for good.

the show was not advertised because they didnt want it to look like a plea for help. they didnt want the word "benefit" anywhere near it.

bighams apt. is next to the flower shop on the square. go thru the glass door that leads directly upstairs.

his apt. is well equipped to hold a very lardge number of people. very very fucking large apartment.

this is a show about good local music, and saving the one place to go to in murfreesboro. if you go to see the bands, or you go to help save the rose, you're still giving money that will keep this place open. its just like paying to go to any other show, except it has a signifigant cause. the bands are playing for free.

The Features
Imaginary Baseball Leauge
The Lucky Guns

and possibly others

come see good music, come save our coffee house.

It has always been my policy to not get into petty squables on the message board. Because after all it is only a message board and not many of us really know each other enough to personally attack one another. It is becoming increasingly difficult to post these days b/c everyone is always in, as Carligula put it a "catfight". I vote for a truce. Let's just be nice. It's really not that hard.

hey guys - i'm really excited about this evenings events at my apartment. my closest friends all came together to make this happen. I am extremely flattered and I sincerely appreciate the gesture.

My main concern is having underage persons here and getting into trouble with the authorities....(police) yes, my apartment is huge but it is isn't that huge. Please do not come if you are under 18. Only a few people under 21 is will be let in. please understand that Alex - Acree and I are liable for anything that happens here and we can not take anymore risks than we already have. so with that said...........i'm ready to have a really good time.

thanks to everyone for your support.

The Red Rose is not being actively secretive about this party because the Red Rose is not hosting the party. There are people who work at the Rose who don't even know about it. It isn't ours to promote. RichardDawson called the Rose and asked about it, and I gave him directions. No elitism, no secrecy, just directions. The Red Rose didn't even know about this party until a few days ago. Two guys who really care about the Red Rose put it all together (thanks guys).

The IRS stuff and the internal politics are pretty complicated (and the details posted eariler aren't exactly right), and are more public than I would like, but thanks for caring. Here is the important stuff to know about the Rose. We host shows sometimes, and we aren't really set up that great for shows. We don't make money off of shows, and we've lost money on several. We have shows because we like music. We used to be profitable, and that was BEFORE we had rock shows. The IRS shit is just an additional thing on the side. The reason the Red Rose doesn't do so well financially is that not too many people come in and buy stuff.

If you want to "save" the Red Rose, here's how: go to the Red Rose and spend money. Get coffee, get breakfast, get lunch, get dinner, come to shows, buy beer (and tip!). Don't think of it as charity, or community activism; think of it as 'hmm, I'd like some coffee'.

The features rock, and if you agree, that's about all you really need to know about tonight. (but did someone say that Carter is singing? that's going to be a lonnnng song ! )

Is this a joke or is this a real show? Because I L-O-V-E Air Supply & am trying to create a musical based on their songs & I must see this show if it exists and comes to FL

the money was used to buy the whole front row of the bon jovi valentine's show.  and man was that expensive!

Me too! Did you see the special "All Out of Love" promotion the Symphony is running? For $60 you get drinks and hors d'voures at The Pub of Love, a limo ride to and from TPAC, and a ticket for best seat in the house. Pretty damn good deal!

Ahhh...the 80's... some mb'ers prolly weren't even alive during Air Supply's 15 minutes.

i heard there was plenty of love last saturday night.

i also heard that the money left over from the bon jovi tickets were used on a limo that will go back and forth from the bon jovi show to the air supply show between every two songs.

I don't think sinasugarsick  knows where she is going either because I heard her tonight telling her friends to go tomorrow and then to call her and tell her where it is. hmm. I probably misunderstood...
yeah, you were wrong. and not that it's any of your business, but the party we were discussing was the one happening that night and not bingham's party.

so now you know you were wrong.

and now i know that some creep at shows is watching me and listening in on my conversations. thanks for the heads up, psycho.
