The Features are proud to announce the release of a new CD single in the UK on March 1 on Fierce Panda. The single is “The Way It’s Meant To Be” b/w “Someway, Somehow.” There will also be a UK 7” single released on Fierce Panda on the same date that will feature “The Way It’s Meant To Be” b/w “Buffalohead.”

The Features will also be on the radio a couple of times in the UK: On February 7, Steve Lamacq will be interviewing the band on BBC6 radio and a few days later the band will be performing live on BBC Radio 1 (Steve Lemacq will also be interviewing the band again) on February 9.

And here in the US, The Features will be distributing The Beginning EP nationally on March 16. The EP will feature an extra track, “The Way It’s Meant To Be.”

We will also have brand new t-shirts and stickers for sale at upcoming shows.

Hope to see you guys at a show soon.

Exciting stuff to be sure. When you say that The Beginning will be released nationally, do you mean on Universal or in such a manner that would ensure that it would be in stores up here, or should I order it? Will it have new packaging?

Do you happen to know if the UK b-sides of Buffalo Head and Someway, Somehow are the older "Krampf sessions" recordings (listenable on the player) or new recordings not yet heard by us?

Hooray for so much more BBC exposure. That can only be good.

I want the new album so bad I can taste it. This is all exciting appetizers to that main course.

I don't think I'm divulging to much to say that the versions are new and new artwork...

The Beginning EP will be available at stores across the country. We'll try and have a list up of chains that are selling it when that time comes.

"The Way It's Meant To Be" and "Someway, Somehow" were recorded in Mississippi this past year and have not been officially released until now.

So how much airplay is the band getting over there? Or will be getting I guess. Will the UK's equivalent of college radio be playing their stuff or the UK's equivalent of 102.9 the Buzz? Forgive me if this is a dumb or irritating question. I've never really paid attention as to how singles are released and how they get airplay.

Let's say there's a radio station that gets played all over America (CBS, NBC in the 50's, etc). In Engand, The Features have gotten play on that radio station (BBC).

To be honest with you, The Features aren't getting much airplay in Britain.... Xfm (probably the equivalent of The Buzz) have only played them a couple of times on their new bands show.... saying that, it might be worth emailing 'Exposure' saying that you listen online, as they're all for promoting their online streaming at the moment. http://www.xfm.co.uk

As for The Features appearing on both Radio 1 and 6music, this is fantastic news. Steve Lamacq is quite a respected presenter for unearthing new talent.... and Radio 1 is as national as it gets. biggrin.gif

Looks like I'll be buying "The Beginning" EP for a third time. Well worth it, though.

Here is a random question that I didn't feel like starting a new thread for: Does anyone know The Features' equipment situation in the UK? Did they bring all their own gear, or are they renting at every venue. It seems like it would be incredibly difficult and expensive to move all that gear around. My guess is Rollum brought his snare and cymbols, Matt and Roger brought their respective guitars/basses, but I can't imagine Parrish being able to lug all his keyboards around or be able to find suitable replacements for rent. Anyone have any behind the scenes knowledge of this? Smee?
I TOTALLY AGREE!

They're renting the "heavy" gear and taking their "portable" gear with them.

Is Parrish renting all those different keyboards, or is he roughing it over there? Don't take these as obsessive fanboy questions. I'm just bored and curious.

I would imagine that he can come up with an equivalent to a Fender Rhodes and a Moog about anywhere in the major cities of England. Therefore, I doubt it would be worth the expense to lug it all.

Parrish brought the moog and his (Yam)AHA! He's renting a farfeesha (sp?) and a rhodes.

Rollum brought drumheads and cymbals. Along with enough batteries for his Gameboy to raise suspicion, and his new MadKatz magnifier that he scored for $2. He was quite proud of that one...

Matt and Roger brought their respective guitars and basses but will rent the heads and amps.

Rory is bringing 3 whole changes of underwear, and Meeks brought an extra pair of socks "In case they start to feel icky."

I had to drop them something at the airport, I asked the same question, Keith.

OMG! What was Matt wearing? Did you talk to him? Did you mention my name? Had Roger shaved? Did they say what songs they were going to play? "Button My Shirt" I hope. Did they say anything about drinking British beer? Do you think they'll sell a jillion copies? Will there be new t-shirts, prefeably with a Union Jack and a Features logo? Will they play "God Save the Queen"? Does Parrish like the Sex Pistols? Will they go to Abbey Road to record? Will they walk across that street? Will they play up the whole Rollum is dead thing that they started a couple of years ago? OMG! That would be so awesome!!!!!

Sorry to change the subject. I'm sure this question has been asked and answered already but I don't want to read through all of the replys (I'm far too lazy for that). Will they be selling the UK releases at their shows or will we have to order them over the internet?

Does anyone know if the WIMTB 7" is still coming out on Fierce Panda Records?

You know I'm not positive but it was suppose to be released on the same day as the single, but only in the UK. As far as I know all copies were sold, at least of the single. I'm guessing the same thing for the 7".

That's odd. I never saw the 7" advertised on Fierce Panda. I was able to order the CD just fine, and most items that sell out are still posted on the website. The 7" is nowhere to be seen.
