so i just relistened to those song that were on those soaking in the center of the universe comps, 'd-con', 'anti-gravity class...', and 'paid to think', and they have me rightly perplexed. these songs and production greatly contrast with what came before and what came after. were they on a heavy dose of the pogues or something? are we calling this their rubber soul/revolver period? don't get me wrong i dig these songs (esp. d-con), but i'm more than a little confused by them. can anyone shed some light on this stuff?

If that's the case, we seem to be in the let it be / abbey road period now. uh oh.

Those songs are rather primitive. I remember when they were 'new'. I'm 'old'.

i love paid to think. i wish they would play it more often. now that you mention it..its sound alot like the beatles rubber soul era. never thought of that.
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

I'm not much of a Paid to Think fan, but then again I'm not much of a ska fan. I would love to hear Anti-Gravity Class of '93, though. I've heard that Matt hates that song, though, so my wish will probably go unfulfilled.

If Matt hates it, let's request it. If he refuses, ask him why he wrote it.

i love anti-gravity. everyone needs to request it. not everyone enjoys everything they write. i'm every artist has atleast one song they've written and recorded a song they didnt like and the audience just happened to like it. i do wondeer that to eno, if you dont like why would even record it?

I guess it's one of those 'wrote it when i was immature' type things. If you want to name a cheesy song he should be embarassed of, try Treehouse Club. I like it, but I bet he thinks it's silly.

so i know that all those post ep-pre rollum tunes are in the can somewhere. is it possible to obtain them? i don't feel like waiting twenty year for the features anthology box set to have them.

There is far more than enough material for a box set. Their vault collection rivals Prince's (there have been claims he has over 1000 songs).

I did request Anti-Gravity last September & was told that they don't practice it/know it anymore. We did get 'Attention' at the following show, but it was just not the same. I know that ex-Features wrote one or two of those Spongebath songs, so that may have something to do with it

I'm going to request a song that doesn't exist at the show. They've thrown so many away they won't know what the difference.

'Play Willy and the Willigers!'

Just browsing through the archives (trying to find where Mahaffey said that he did a bad job producing those sessions) and this struck me as some funny shit that most of the board wasn't around for. That Eno guy was funny as hell.

Yes, this thread is a great example of why "favorite article of clothing" was a bit annoying to me.

Anyway, Matt didn't say the sessions were bad. I can't find the post either, but he actually praises the recordings themselves. The Features didn't think they were good enough for release.

You're goddamn right He was. I sure do miss that guy. It makes me happy to see that His legacy is, truly, living on.

Let me get this right...

He just left all of a sudden on Valentines day and his last post was a quote from The Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock?

He trades cds online (and not rare stuff either, commercial cds)?

He has an avatar, even though he wasn't around when they were added?

Such mystery, this guy.

And he has a ton of Features cds, but doesn't trade them.

He does trade them, you just have to have the right stuff to offer.

Well, he showed up a couple of months ago and added an avatar. Other than that, he hasn't been logged in...just for the record.

No. If you look at the date of that post, it was from November 2001. Brian Eno2 has not posted here in a long long time. As for whether or not He is watching over us right now, I suppose that just depends on whether or not you believe in Him.

If I were guessing, it's just pure entertainment for him to read these posts where he is still discussed. I'd say he's around--just not saying anything.
