TOPIC: Spider-Man

So, I know its been awhile since Spider-Man came out, but why the lack of hype (when compared to the Star-Wars talk going on around here)

Just curious about what everyone thinks. In my opinion the acting was much better than in Attack of the Clones, and the script was better, even allowing that it holds to the cheesy comic book quips and banter. Though Spider-Man cant go near Clones in as far as special effects, it was still entertaining...

If you objectively compare the films solely on their own merits, most people would say that Spider-Man is a better movie. However, AotC is Star Wars... freakin' Star Wars! It could've been about nude ninjas defending deaf midgets from talking chimps and we still would've loved it.

Strange stuff. I saw the box for that movie at Video Culture, but it was checked out. I guess I know who has it.

If you were going to either of those movies for acting or dialogue, then they both suck. But that isn't the point. People who don't like Episode II for those reasons need to go back and watch the original movies. Mark Hamill isn't doing video games and cameos in Kevin Smith movies because he is a world class actor.

We like these movies because of cool characters, the idea of space travel, awesome fights, and the fact that it takes us back to our childhood. Not because Natalie Portman and Haden Christiansen have good on-screen chemistry or because of R2D2's decorated stage career.

These movies tell fun stories with unique characters. I liked both of them, maybe Episode II a tiny bit more, although wet Kirsten Dunst makes it a really close race.

i was reading this week's entertainment magazine and they took a poll on who is hotter-dunst or portman, and portman won 54% to 46% or something very close to that. tough decision.

I haven't seen Spiderman yet, but I keep getting told I look like Peter Parker.

The way Kirsten Dunst is pretty and the way that Natalie Portman is pretty are too different to compare the two.

I haven't seen the new Star Wars yet. I saw Spider-man and liked it a lot.

The fact that Phantom Menace was apart of the Star Wars series did not keep me from thinking it was one of the five worst films I've ever seen (I gave it three viewings too to come to that conclusion). With that said I'm still looking forward to seeing Attack of the Clones and hope to, finally, this weekend.

This site proves my point from earlier...Natalie Portman is attractive in a very clean-cut, prim and proper way. Kirsten Dunst is the girl next door we'd all like to see out in the rain with razor-sharp nipples.

None of the girls that lived next door to me looked like her. If we are using cliches, I would put her more in the 'all american girl' category. With the blonde hair and blue(?) eyes and whatnot. Not to get into semantics or anything.

please allow me to thank mr. jamiecarroll for my recent star wars cram session. i have now seen all of the existing star wars and feel as though i am a more complete, beneficial member to this message board, my workplace, my country, and mankind as a whole. and i would like to say that outside of the grocery store romance novel anakin-and-amidala bullshit, episode two was dope.

all time favorite star wars episode: return of the jedi
all time favorite star wars character: the emperor
favorite star wars action scene: anakin and obi-wan chasing the girl in the car at the beginning of episode 2
what needs to be in episode 3: who is anakin's father, anakin and amidala in a steamy sex scene, little luke, yoda kicking more ass, braveheart style clones vs. droids, more han solo, the truth behind jaba the hut's rise to fortune, and music with vocoders

Yoda is Anakin's father since we all know Yoda is a man-whore. I can see the resemblance, can't you?

i think my favorite star wars scene is between greedo and han solo. 'ooda pooda soloooo?' is the greatest line in star wars. the greatest song(besides the imperial march)is the disco song that weird alien thing sings in jabba's house(?residence?). the star wars movies with the added scenes are horseshit.

right on, man. this past weekend, my roommate discovered the horrible truth that i had never seen star wars, so we had a very similar cram session and i really do feel like a better person.
my favorite is the empire strikes back.
han solo is so fucking hott!!!
yeah, the next film is gonna be way dark bc its like the take over and anakin's fall to the dark side.

I was trying to match that song with AotC lyrics for '2x2'. I was gonna make it about Anakin and the queen, but I couldn't think of a line to rhyme with 'And then they porked'.

it actually does....i can imagine it mellow with damo on vocals. that's not a bad cover idea for a band.
