TOPIC: Summer Plans

Post 1 of 38
I was discussing summer plans with my friends tonight, and I was wondering if anyone was doing something particularly exciting? As for me..WORK WORK WORK. How thrilling is my life? Other than going to see shows, I am sticking around here to make some money. Reassure me that I'm not the only one!

small small chance may be going to orlanda with girlfriend's family, summer school, getting ready for bootcamp, and if possible, work. Making money would be nice for college.

It looks like it'll be a good one for entertainment--

Episode 2 (unless it sucks)
the new Flaming Lips record and subsequent tour
hopefully another Mike Watt tour
a new Sonic Youth record and subsequent tour

I know I'm forgetting some others.

As for me, I'm going to friends' weddings and maybe Orlando in June. Hopefully there will be lots of Feature shows. I'm out of college and at work these days, so that aspect will not change for the summer.

yes mindylieu, I am walking on Saturday. I went and asked if it was ok, since I never sent an rsvp, they said 'yeah, just show up in a cap and gown'. Had I known it was that easy I would have graduated a long time ago.

unfortunately I got my cap and gown on extremely short notice yesterday, so you may be out of luck. Also, blightman, you would have to be in Knoxville. I can't imagine that the b-man would ever want to visit, much less receive a degree from UT.

yeah, i always thought i was alone until i read one of your posts long ago. those recordings would be awesome-you are the best! we need to go to a show sometime. i cant drag wrangler anymore, even though the last show he went to he had such a good time that he passed out twice! WP shows are not for the faint of heart!

it's funny, when you're not in school anymore you don't really think of things in terms of seasons or semesters...time's just time. i would like to go to the beach at some point though. congrats to all the graduates!

Thank You. It's a bit strange, though. I graduated this weekend but I don't finish class until the end of the month.

OK...you have graduated but you haven't finished classes. You have taken your finals, right? What if you just stopped going? I mean you HAVE already graduated. So what could they do?

At most universities, if you only have a couple of classes to take during the summer, they will let you 'walk' (i.e. participate in the graduation ceremony). However, your degree is not offically conferred until you meet all of the course requirements given by the university.

I got a job here in Koxville, so I haven't decided whether I want it or not. I would really like to move back to Nashville.

I think I have made a goal for myself this summer: go to as many shows as I possibly can, with work in mind of course. The Features are a top priority, for sure. 5 hours doesn't really mean shit to me when it comes to the high that I get from seeing them play. Anyone else like that?

Summer Plans?
Find a new job and work work work! A trip to NC with my best guy to do some jazz recording stuff. And possibly a trip to Europe.

I shall probably see 0 Features shows this summer since I'll be working 50 + hours a week in a factory in order to pay for college. Now those are some summer plans.

I was called Tuesday to start teaching summer school. I teach yesterday through mid-July. That probably means no trip to St. Louis for the Unlimited Sunshine tour.
