does anyone have any info on this place? I can't find a website, and their phone number has been disconnected (according to sprint). I was just wondering if it would be worth a mini road-trip to see the band there. If it's a strict 21+ venue then there's no point in even trying. . .

I asked my friend about it (he lives there) and he said the Dame is very strict 21 +. I would call ahead and work something out with the management.

What telephone number did you use? The Yellow Pages have them listed as (859) 226-9005. You can visit the venue's web site at http://www.dameky.com/.

no kidding. I guess this means no more roadtrip for me.

thanks for the info tom. i've been trying my hardest to find a website. I might try to call and work something out. by the way. is it illegal just to TRY to get into a place using a fake id, or do you have to buy beer or something before you can get into real trouble?

You could do the ole "C'mon, honestly, if I were going to have a fake ID, don't you think that I'd make it say 21?"

Just because I'm feeling benevolent - fake IDs - they are tricky things. The only way that they are actually "illegal" persay is when you take someone else's information to the DMV and get one made. The only way you're going to get into trouble when using one is if you show it to a cop and they realise that it is indeed a fake. Of course, the venue has the right to refuse to serve you should you use it to buy alcohol of any sort, and they also have the right to ask you to leave - however, 9 times out of 10, they are not going to call the cops on you or anything, so it never hurts to try. Just don't attract attention to yourself and you'll be fine. Most of the people in the bar industry are former/current party kids who have done stuff like that before. They aren't refusing you to be mean, they are refusing you because they can get into legal trouble.

A really useful piece of info I've picked up - the only person who can actually take away your fake ID and keep it is a cop. Bartenders, doormen, owners of establishments, etc. are not within their legal rights to hold your ID. Needless to say, it's a matter of personal descretion. If the person refusing to give you back your ID is a 300 pound bouncer and you are a 130 pound 17 year old kid it might not be a good idea to argue with them.

And with that, I step off my soapbox.
It's all about taking the easy way out for you, I suppose.

I wish I'd known that when I was 16. I had a pretty good fake ID that was taken up by 328 at a Matthew Sweet show. My teenage years probably would've been a lot different if I had held onto it. Oh well, it's probably for the best...

All I can say is that fake Ids are wonderful. If you have to oppurtunity to get one, do it. No matter how much it costs.

The name on my brother's fake is David L. Roth.

and yet it works like a charm...

despite the fact that it is a three year expired learner's permit.

I got mine from my older sister. But I would just ask around. The only other person I know who has a decent one is PaulFreaksMeOut. Maybe he will share his knowledge.

some of my friends used to know a guy at the DMV that would take your older sibling's information and take your picture so you actually had a real id that had your brother's ssn... very hard to prove that you weren't 21.

Paul happened upon a wonderful situation...

Our friend Patrick was working construction last summer in Gallatin, when a co-worker commented that he had somebody's old ID that he had been using, but since he himself had recently turned 21, he had no further use for it. Patrick looked at the ID and, with astonishment, exclaimed "Paul!". The Alabama ID was a dead-ringer for Paul in looks, height and weight. It was remarkable. Paul still uses said ID at his discretion, though it expired earlier this year. Strangely enough, he still uses his real ID to buy cigarettes and has been questioned about it's authenticity on more than one occassion.

In my high school, there was a legendary fake ID named Danny Wright. It was found on the ground at a concert, and it was already expired. But several different people that I knew used it on a regular basis (Danny was a generic-looking motherfucker). That ID bought us so much alcohol, including all of the alcohol for our graduation party. I think that someone finally got busted using it in the airport! At the time when it was confiscated, I think it was expired by over three years, but still going strong.

Well, apparently the dame is VERY serious about not letting anyone under 21 in. No call ahead list at this place. Looks like I'll be missing this one (unless JC can find Danny's ID and decides to pass it on)
