well… since our last tour in september, we’ve been working on the next album. i think we have written about thirty-six new songs for it. some we like and some we don’t. hopefully the album will be available in the coming months for you to hear. until then, we will put some of our demo’s on the website.

this week is new song #33 entitled “the drawing board”. hope you enjoy.

thanks to everyone for coming to the tucker theater and grand palace shows. we are planning more shows now, so we hope to see you soon.

oh yeah, thanks a lot to parrish’s cousin tito “the demise” yaw for adding the horns to drawing board. he was visiting from norway for the new age expo and was kind enough to help us out. thanks tito.

the above post is from matt pelham and you can listen to a streaming version of the song on The Features Blog.

There is supposedly some more new content brewing from Rollum that should be posted relatively soon as well. I'm not going to give a specific date for when because I know how easy it is to miss said dates and then get the finger pointed at yourself for being lazy.

Regardless, hope you guys like the new song. I did.

Um, it's not playing for me. I have Flash 7 and the pic changes to color when I click on it, but no sound. Is a player supposed to pop up? Does it work for Firefox?

Explorer works

... and it sounds great! I really dig it. Nice uptempo, dirrty bass, acapella action, and "horns"! Best of all, it's a fresh new style.

Worked in Firefox for me - strange. Never can tell what will and won't work with peoples various setups. Flash 7 should be all that is required.. but it sounds like you got it to work. Happy to hear it.

Really dig the energy. The "meet back here" part is excellent. Definitely keep this up, this is very generous (and awesome) of you guys!

Ditto. very nice of the band and management to do this for us. I'm glad they're keeping this thing updated. I'd much rather apologize than say "I told you so".

Anyway, awesome song!!! I like the added instruments, very cool.

Am I the only one who didn't really like it? I thought it sounded childish and the horns sounded like they were done on a midi key board. Might make a good b-side but imho not worthy of the record.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!

I heard this song at the Tucker Theater show and am so happy to hear it again! Everyone around me at the show was excited to hear new material.

I really, really liked 'I Will Wander' as well as 'Gates of Hell', I see 'Gates' as a real treasure. I don't have any idea if it is 'new' or an older work in progress, but it had a great feeling at the show. 'Gates of Hell' feels like the start of a concept album in a way, maybe I am too Bowie-minded (wait not possible).

On one of Joni Mitchell's albums (I think Miles Of Aisles, a tour album)someone is shouting for an early song and Joni replies, 'I wonder if anyone said to Vincent Van Gogh, paint another Starry Night.' This is paraphrased, I can't think of the exact quote, but you get my meaning.

New material is the greatest gift we can get from any artists. It is great to review, but growth is essential for creative people. I am sure many fans are always happy to hear the classics, but want new songs to learn and love.

I don't mean to over-quote, but on 'Lou Reed Live, Take No Prisoners' (1978) Lou starts to play the opening of 'Take A Walk On The Wild Side' and the audience freaks out! He says, 'It's not that I don't want to play your favorites, but there are just so many favorites to choose from.' That was true then and many more favorites have continued to come from Lou Reed. He never plays the song but tells a great story of the creation of the song.

I am sure your fans await many more favorites to chose from!

Maybe after the next studio album we could get a nice tour double disc set, it worked well in the 70's for Frampton. I didn't buy it, but my sister did and a few other people too.

Thanks so much for posting 'The Drawing Board' I love it and thanks so much for being so nice after the Tucker show. I was glad to get that older cd signed and though I love it I do not live in the past and I know that more great things are in the works. That beung said, I would not object to a revival of Armani Suede.

Rollum is a musical encyclopedia and I think I said "Baby's on Fire" was the opening song in 'Velvet Goldmine', sorry, I'm sure it is "Needle In The Camel's Eye". I guess I was excited to talk to someone who likes so much of what I love. All hail 'Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)!

All the new keyboard sounds/gadgets were great, Parrish the hat was too cool! Roger knows how all the Cookeville crowd feels about him, nice omelet.

Keep on growing and best to you and those you love!

Please post 'Gates Of Hell' sometime!

Michael

Wow. Horns? Tito? New Age Expo? Norway? That statement's like an episode of Lost; it answers some questions but raises so many more.

No problem with the horns mattie....... Anytime. You know I would fly in as soon as I could if you needed that special help finishing a song. Don't worry about silly things as album credit. I'm not really a credit or spotlight kind of norwegian you know. Now you know. Also the new age expo was really a seminar on new age thinking like concepts on how to ask for help,
how to best work in a group, and The Most ways not to over control the situation while keeping everybody on the same page.

Great experince indeed,

Tito (you got my number)THE DEMISE Yaw

I gotcha. I'm just too lazy...rather just open up Internet Explorer, you know?

As an already great song, it's growing on me a lot. I really dig it. Wish I could hear some other new stuff!
