TOPIC: The Exhibit A Sessions

Hey everyone. Long time no read this board. Longer time, no post. senior year was a bitch, and I had to finish up. Now I've done that.

Looks like I missed alot. Notably, the tracklist announcement and minor controversy regarding the management's secrecy. As jc indicated, they could at least tell us what the 18 tracks were that got recorded and were being used to define the album. We may have the full 12 now (or may not), but I'm still wondering what those 18 tracks might have been.

We've got

1. Exhibit A
2. The Way It's Meant To Be
3. Me and the Skirts
4. Blow It Out
5. There's a Million Ways to Sing the Blues
6. Leave It All Behind
7. Exorcising Demons
8. The Idea of Growing Old
9. Someway, Somehow
10. Situation Gone Bad
11. Harder To Ignore
12. Circus

on the promo

We've got

13. See You Through

as a b-side to Million Ways

we've had numerous reports that

14. Look Out Below
15. God Save Rock 'n' Roll

were once making the cut.

What are the missing three songs? Buffalo Head is a b-side for TWIMTB, but it was the recording from the vinyl, right? Anyone know what else might be b-side fodder?

Here's to : Darkroom, Action, and Temporary Blues. Not holding out too much hope though.

If it isn't on this album, I'd rather them use it for album #2 than to "waste" it as a b-side. I think it has potential as a "single" all by itself.

Congratulations on finishing college, Will - and at a prestigious institution, no less. Way to go! Will you still be living in Chicago, or will you move back to the 'Noog?

Once upon a time, I heard all 18 songs. But years of eating and drinking aspartame has killed too many of my brain cells, and I can't remember exactly what the songs were. I want to say that "Look Out Below" was indeed part of that set, but I'm not sure. I also kind of remember "Moonlight." I would have a hard time believing that "God Save Rock'n'Roll" was not recorded. Others? Maybe "Action." Maybe "Darkroom."

I'm was really surprised to see that a new version of "See You Thru" was recorded. I don't remember hearing that one.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

I'm sticking around Chicago. It is too fun a place to live and I have been here too long without being able to "live" here, you know?

If you're keen to listen, there's a clip of See You Through on www.hmv.co.uk 's page for the single. I'm going to have to grab it, it is a great rendition, IMO. I'd grab TWIMTB, but Smoeway Somehow seems to be on the record.

Thanks for the info! I voiced my complaint about the way "exhibit a" sounded (and felt bad about it), so I might as well say that I loved that version of See You Through!

I'm jealous.

I don't think I saw you at the Features show at Schubas, but did I see you for a moment at the Studio 22 premiere? If so, did you work on any of the films shown?

I agreed in April or May of 2003 to shoot a wedding, and it happened to be during the Features show. I was pissed.

You did see me at the Studio 22 premiere, and you should have said hi. After three premieres where I'd worked on 70% of the evening's work, I took a year to take my time on a very small group of films. This year all I did for that premiere was shoot "Outpost." Yes, that "Outpost." So many jokes. But hey, it took me underwater and into the rain. And Steve and I have lived together for four years, so it was great to collaborate that closely.

Hope you enjoyed the film. Obviously sound is still rough, the music is not what will be used at all, and we have yet to do color correction. But whatever, it is what it is.

They rerecorded The Beginning (Week One) and maybe one or two other songs from the EP. This was before Universal decided to rerelease the EP. Therefore, that/those songs got lost in the fray. I don't remember hearing Look Out Below or God Save RnR, but I was really high at the time.

Wait, no I wasn't.

Bill, it was a different time. It was back when we didn't know the Russians were incompetent.
