i know the band members have lives outside of the band
but damn

i think they should play here at least 4 times a month.

i don't care how it's split up.

1 show in nashville and 1 show in murfreesboro one week and the same 2 weeks later-1 show in nashville one week, 1 show in mufreesboro the next week, another show in nashville the next and another in murfreesboro the next-1 show in nashville and 1 show in murfreesboro on the same night-4 shows at my house

I DON'T CARE

just play
alot.

thanks
she's just another ho that i met in the hood
i told her i was crunchy black and it was all good

Well with the addition of these new shows, if all goes according to plan I'll see them four times in one month. Way-hey for many Features shows!

Now I really need some sort of job so I can reverse the flow of my cash...

I'm very happy and excited about the Boro show. i think another chalking should be in order. however, we all must promise not to deface other bands promotion materials. we dont want to disappoint the band.

Yes indeed, another chalking with nothing but positivity abounding. This time maybe I'll let the artistic juices flow (hey, they're better than other juices). Also the IHOP plan could once again be enacted, maybe as a regular board thing after the shows...

And this is random but who else hates flood control? I mean....yeah I guess I'm pathetic for actually encountering it many many times but hey, when you spend as much time in the MTSU library waiting for classes/jobs to start, the board is a saving grace. I spit on you flood control!

Since I am pretty much guaranteed Thursdays off, I am SO there. I will take my lab at another time in the week, and you all better bet your asses that I will be in Murfreesboro that night. YAY for Thursday night shows. No racquetball for damon on Friday.

Is there a connection between their playing the Boro/aka hometurf on Thursdays and the significance of the song Thursday? Do they schedule the shows on Thursday so that we can all say "Thursday is the only day that I've been looking forward to" with truth in our hearts? The world may never know...

I've wondering the same thing. I might have even mentioned it to Jenny (sweetluv) at one point while we were there a couple of weeks ago. It's good to know that someone else shares the same thought.

Since you shared it with me though, you might want to get scared. If you ever ponder the logistics of recreating the cover to Morning Glory while in London, let me know. I should have a vaccine by then.

Yes, their success has sky-rocketed in the past year or so here in the Nashville market...my question is this:

Can they keep it up here if they don't play as much as they were in the spring?

Honestly, as much as I love the Features and think they're a great live show, I don't think they can keep their numbers up if their number of shows doesn't go up. Crowds are very fickle things. True, maybe they need that to break out in a more national market, but I don't think an album can do that much without live shows and a tour to back it up. With no album and no shows, then what's left? Self?

Actually, I think it would be great if the Features played more all-ages shows. At the NXT GENERATION in March, I thought that the kids were really into the Features. And the kids need some more good music to listen to. Seriously, kids power today's (popular) music industry. It's what the kids like that's on the cover of Rolling Stone. I'm not saying that the Features should go for the TRL route, or even pander to the pop music industry at all. But playing an all ages show every couple of months could boost their cred with the kids, and gain them a whole new audience.

It's just a thought.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with Rich (owner of Spongebath) a few years back. I had gone to the offices in the square in the Boro to but the Call Florence Pow album, and he just gave me a copy, along with Count Bass D's album, the Thursday/Rabbit March 10", bumper stickers etc. Nice guy. Anyhow...

I was talking about how refreshing all of the Spongebath bands were, especially given the climate of music at the time (N'Sync and Backstreet dominating all things etc). He said that he was really excited, and I'll never forget why. He said that what this was doing was making music popular again. He didn't care what the music was and even suggested that it was good that the music was so bad because the fans would lose interest. When they lost interest, he postulated, they'd still be fans of music, and they'd look for music that was actually good. And suddenly, there would be alot of music fans driving a trend of good music.

I was facinated. He was a really nice guy, at least in person.

I don't really understand what Captain was talking about, Will. Hasn't music always been popular? Please help me understand.

I think he was referring to a general lack of interest in music during the fallout of grunge. People, especially children, just didn't seem to care about music with the fervor that they had in the early 90s. The new pop movement really brought in those kids. Hopefully he'll be right and their tastes will change... soon.
