TOPIC: The Features on the freaking Ashlee Simpson show

I just sat down to watch some TV and switched it to MTV, and was pleasantly greeted by "The Way It's Meant to Be" playing on the Ashlee Simpson show. It was while she was washing her hair in a sink so the music was very loud and clear. It's a random connection, but I still think it's pretty cool that they're getting play on MTV.

Actually, I think MTV has been surprisingly on-the-ball as of late. "Float On" is one of their top five most played videos, which is also very cool, so it's hard to complain about them so much anymore.

Oh, and also, there's a The Way It's Meant to Be single on iTunes now. It was just posted 4 days ago. No b-side, but the little "cover art" icon is pretty cool (a picture of the band, with Matt and Roger lighting cigarettes). On an iTunes sidenote, I think it's pretty interesting (and cool) that "Stark White Stork Approaching" is the second most purchased Features song.

yea, mtv and vh1 sometimes have good music during their shows.. everytime i turn on vh1 it seems like i'm watching a cake concert..

problem is, these "unknown" (not really unknown.. but.. not.. mainstream.. you know what i mean) bands never seem to get any credit for the use (or abuse.. depends on how you look at it) of their songs (or creative genius, if you will)

it's quite a shame sad.gif

sorry to rant.. i'm very happy to hear that the features are getting some recognition!! it just saddens me sometimes the way bands' hard work and talent gets shafted.. hmm.

wow, way to be a downer, becca. (sorry, guys!!)

Yeah, they need to have one of those little "In this episode, you heard music from...." things with the video tacked on.
That's so NA.

I actually, I'm pretty sure their band name gets in the credits for a second. Whether or not anyone will be interested enough to sort through those names and guess which one they liked is a bit of a long shot, though. Still, I'm just glad MTV has heard and is using their EP.

I remember hearing that, when the first few seasons of Real World went into syndication, they had to strip each episode of the music. I've also been told that you can really tell the difference.

Doesn't MTV have some sort of deal where they can use any song that they have rights to in any fashion they want (commercials, shows, advertisements, etc.)? I guess a few spins on M2 qualifies the Features for this.

Crappy show or not, this is great that they're getting exposure! And lets be honest here, folks: viewers of the AS show are probably prime candidates to be die-hard Features fans. It's true. It's damn true.

I watched a what seemed to have been a marathon of this show waiting for it to be played. This kind of exposure is great for The Features.

Same here, I caught a few episodes before I came to work this afternoon. The show sucks big-time, but it was worth watching just to hear the band on MTV.

Anyone remember when the Real World had two songs from Subliminal Plastic Motives on every episode?

I do.

Moral of the story: this means nothing. But it is exciting nonetheless.

Will
You may like grandma's yard gnomes, but I've seen Rock City. Remember it.

Two songs!? Ah, how exciting it must have been following Self (and indeed all of Spongebath) from day one.

In other MTV-MidTN related news, I heard Feable Weiner on some other MTV reality show. I think it was Road Rules, I can't remember (I was waiting for the Assistant to start).
