TOPIC: the features, saturday at the blue sky court
Posted  Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 10:27 AM
Post 1 of 52
so, the nashville scene says our boys are playing a show at the blue sky court this saturday with chris crofton & the alcohol stunt band and rodney hotbox. though i've never seen either of these opening bands, i have danced with chris at springwater.

thanks for letting us know about this show, brianW. i'm sure you're breaking a law of daigletology. you can't just keep the features for yourself, you have to share.

I think Brian's always been very forthcoming with information. The problem is that the people who book the shows (Pelham and/or Rory) just don't tell him. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if your post is the first he's heard of the show.

So this is a definite? I hope this isn't some cruel typo! The Blue Sky Court was a very, very awesome venue that produced one of my favorite Features' shows ever. Whee, looks like I have something to do this weekend!

If this was printed only in the Rage I wouldn't believe it. They've been putting out tons of false information lately (I think it started right around the time that Neuboy started contributing... Hmmmmm). But both they and the Scene have it listed (although the online listing is messed up and all the bands are jumbled). From the Rage, I get the impression that the Features are opening, but I could be mistaken (yes, that sometimes happens).

thank you for sharing this info, sina. oh how i hope the rage wasn't toying with our emotions.
you know, it could've been a typo. maybe they meant to say the deatures were playing (which would be equally as sweet), and that's why it wasn't listed on the site.

I'm not sure if this post fits here or the "Dreams" forum, but last nite I dreamt that the features finally posted some more shows, and there were a ton, and all of them were far away, and all of them were 21+. I guess that was more of a nightmare. But, anyway, i think it's indicative of the fact that I'm going thru Features withdrawal. Someone needs to either confirm or deny this nashville show fast. ohmy.gif
Why would you do that?

I hadn't read up on the board in a few days and today when I saw this topic I was stoked.. now this is just awful, but I also have reading to get caught up on, tests to study for, health journals to get caught up on, and small HW assignments to do.... There's no doubt if there was a show i would have dropped what i was doing to be there.

Dagnabitrassumfrassumschpadoinkle...I have spent all afternoon thinking about how I was finally going to take my video camera to a show and video it, and then burn it on a VCD so allll my friends could see the Features live and in their glory...but no...I will never trust anything that the Rage says again (not that I really do now).

Personally, I blame the ph34r.gif for getting me all biggrin.gif and then making me very mad.gif and sad.gif . This is definitely not cool.gif .

That seems to be a good policy these days. I will once again point out, though, that the Scene screwed up too in this case, so it was probably the fault of something bigger. We may never know...

It's easy for me to make fun. Why?

1) I didn't read this thread until Featuresgirl had posted.

2) I don't get excited about Features shows that easily any more. It's usually the night of before I do.

oh, i realized that you were merely making fun and weren't actually questioning the validity of featuresgirl's statement. smile.gif

and i wish i hadn't had the chance to read this thread when it first began either. i just clung to the joy of this idea because this week has been so shitty. and a features show would've definitely brightened it.

False reports of Features shows is certainly one of the signs that the end is near! The end of whatever it is you believe in, that is. And of course No Financing Options for 18 months programs. Those must go too!

If we have anything to say about it, there will be no more Features show (or perhaps maybe just one) until June! Till June we say! And so says p. 1,356.

I never have unerstood the hiatus mentality the Features take usually every spring or summer. Suddenly, they stop playing. What's the logic or the strategic value in that plan? They often crawl off into the studio and record some demos that no one will ever hear, all the while the fans grow more and more restless. What's the point of taking a break until June?

i don't understand it either. i do understand that it takes time to work on recording songs and important stuff like that. but i just can't see where the band couldn't take maybe one or two nights out of each of these hiatus months to play a show for their restless fans (and, dammit, i'm restless!)....unless they put on bear suits and hibernate/record in some sort of cave/studio for a few months without any contact with the outside world...and i just can't picture matt in a bear suit, so i doubt this is the case. but hey, i know nothing about stuff like this and am probably sounding like an idiot right about now. i love the features and am not complaining....well, yeah, i guess i am complaining. sorry.

Actually you're both right.

He's recording an album with Dave Fridmann and some of the Flaming Lips AND appears in the Flaming Lips movie.

His website is - steveswebpage.com

And I actually like the songs. The album should be good, even though it's been in production for a very long time (sounds like another band we all enjoy).
