TOPIC: The Features to be interviewed on wmts
Posted  Sunday, September 26, 2004 at 9:02 PM
Post 1 of 33
according to the wmts concerts calendar, the Features will be interviewed this wednesday 9/29 from noon-2 on 88.3 wmts (m'boro). Of course, someone should probably call Meeks to confirm this. I would have done so already, but I don't have his number.

Ok friends! Tis I, Dj Steve of WMTS, who will be interviewing the Features tomorrow. Unless the world stops spinning between now and then.
I've been meaning to get on this message board for a while now, and I'm finally getting around to doing it! So here I am.

To get to know me, go to my blog at www.mtsu.edu/~ssc2g.

About the interview tomorrow- My show is called Fascination Street and it's every wed. from noon-2pm. Check it out at 88.3 Megahertz, Frequency Modulation. Or at www.wmtsradio.com, and click listen. It will be a trip!!!

As far as Meeks, I tried to email him once via the website, but I guess aol is screwed or something and it took like a week for him to get it. And I have not way to get his phone number. So I just talked to Mr. Pelham himself at the CD release show, and again at the Grimey's gig, and got it worked out directly with him. We were gonna do it last week, but this week just worked out better, and it gave me time to promote it as well. I'm going to call Matt tonight and see if he might be interested in doing a couple live acoustic songs on the air, as well as maybe give away a signed copy of the record to the first caller. We'll see what happens. Everyone cross your fingers and hope something crazy doesn't come up that prevents this all from happening!

Oh, and yes, I will be recording it and posting an mp3 of the interview/talk segment on my website. I don't think I'll be able to post an mp3 of the songs he does (if he plays any), because of copyright issues.

It is. But then again, you have actual cool things to do, like host a radio show, whereas the coolest thing I have to do is be on a message board.

Gald you joined!

I just missed the part where he talked about Spongebath...shucks. Can't wait for the mp3 of it. I'm recording for the hell of whatever's left off it, but I'm sure it'll come out shitty. biggrin.gif

Matt said they're not ready to be a big famous band yet. They just want to be able to make records consistently.

He also feels that Universal hasn't really given full backing yet, but he hopes that they eventually will.

Sweet, thanks for calling Jakob! It's always better to have callers with questions. It was a good question, too, by the way.

Thanks. I hesitated, thinking "maybe some of the other callers will ask for me," but then I decided to dial in anyway. I'm happy I did, too...why weren't there any other callers!? I guess maybe you guys don't enjoy talking to Matt Pelham one-on-one as much because you can all do it after a local Features show, but I still expected someone else to give him a buzz. But in any case, if my being out of school somehow happens to coincide with you interviewing another band that I like, I'll be sure to call in again.

My favorite part of the interview: "So you're a full-time rockstar now?" "Well, I guess..."

EDIT: And now listening back on the MP3, yep, I live here in Philly. I like the Features and all, but I wouldn't drive seven hours to see them!

Notice the immense restraint from everyone on the board in the color area... except for Sina on occaision, but she gets a free pass. You'd think a guy with frog in his name would have green type...

so are you a 2.8 or a 2.8-4 split?

I wonder what could possibly make Matt extremely talkative. I suppose he doesn't say a whole lot in the interview, but jeez, it must be pretty taxing just to get him to speak at all.

I quite enjoyed the interview myself. Thank you, Steve, for taking the time to do this and share it with us all.

Thanks Jakob. You're right, it is a difficult process interviewing Matt, in all his quietness. Though he did enough talking to satisfy me. He's just an intriguing character, and I felt honored to be interviewing him.

And as for the green, I like green, and I don't care how everyone else on this board posts, I'm gonna post in green if I want to! Loosen up, people.

Dang...i wish I hadn't missed this because I was in that area around that time!
What were you thinking when you saw the light?
Were you surprised to find the world outside?
I felt so sorry for your little head
Was it depressing to just lay in bed?
