Inspired by Phil's post, how many board members here have an actual copy of the Features self-titled EP released by Spongebath in 1997? (not The Beginning EP)

I believe that I do, although... if there was a reissue or something, maybe that's what I have? I bought it at the Slowbar show. Is it a rarity or something? I've noticed digsy said something about never having held it...

There is no re-issue. It's long out of print. Are you sure you're not thinking of the Beginning EP? The EP in question is black with 5 characters on it, they all look similar to Wiyum's avatar).

For the longest time, I only had a burned copy from my friend Josh Markham. But then a couple of years ago, I found the real thing on eBay. I still haven't opened it. I still use my burned copy for listening to.

I have an original! biggrin.gif I got sooo lucky occasionally I go to pawn shops an look through music... I went to I believe it was Gallatin Pawn shop (they always have a sign that says VIDEO SALE hanging outside the building) for those who are familar with G-town over there by KFC.. anyway I was browsing throgh there cd's I freaking read every label.. and I saw the features and my mouth dropped open! I found this like late 1999 or 2000 it's hard to remember it's been so long ago. But I was freaking happy!

Picked mine up back in 97 at Tower Records on West End (or is it Broadway... wow, my Nashville geography is already failing me) along with a copy of The Half-Baked Serenade and Big Notebook for Easy Piano.

And yes, my avatar is in fact to be found on the EP, but actually on the back of the cover insert. The angle may be different, but that's where I took it from...

I got mine from a friend in South Carolina. Apparently he saw The Features play there sometime in 1998 or 1999 and bought the EP then. In 2002, I went to visit him and I was like, "man, check out this cool band I found out about in Tennessee." He was like, "oh yeah, I have their CD." I let him listen to their newer material and he was nice enough to give me the old EP.

ok well, i am a newbie & feel a bit dumb posting but am taking the plunge anyway...

i'm a long time fan (since 1995)...& the answer is yes, i have the original EP...i am from Cookeville (hey - any Dixie House folks out there? drop me a line! smile.gif ) originally & ergo went right out & grabbed it. & loved it & still love it. just wished they'd been able to cut more tracks! i'd love to have "your smile" & some other real old school cool.gif stuff on a CD.

what i need to do now is get up to speed on the new stuff! i've only heard/seen bits & pices that are up on the web when i can listen when no one is around at work! i have fallen sorely out of the loop & missed them everytime they've been down my way (Atlanta)...'nuff babbling

Welcome, Mr. Rivoli. Man, you've been a fan for a long time! I mean, they were probably still in Sparta in 1995, huh?

So I guess you already have all of the older stuff. If you want some newer stuff, I would recomend that you...

a. Buy the Beginning EP
b. Buy the Buffalo Head single
c. visit this mp3 site: http://sweb.uky.edu/~klhaut2/music/

But most of all, you should see the Features when they play in Atlanta on September 27 at the Earl - their live show is the best!

yes, they were still in the small pond & hanging out with me & my friends in Cookevegas (one of my best friends was Don Sergio, who defected the group a while back, as you all know) on nights off...it was a looong time ago, needless to say.

thanks for the reccomendations!

i will someday make it to a live show & say hey & enjoy the new tunes but am currently recovering from surgery so it might be bit before i can go rock out...

Did you really think this bloody road would
Pave the way for you?
You better turn around and blow your kiss hello to life eternal, angel

Is it bad that we always assume that new posters are male? (with a few exceptions, of course, notably ghostflower)

yes, you.

carligula was another that i thought was a girl. i didnt like him for a really long time too, because i knew a girl named carly that i didnt care for, and i guess i associated him with her. it was very silly, looking back on it.

Now you dislike me for more legitimate reasons, right?

I thought it was because your screen name is Ghostflower.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Better yet, if you are looking for Features music:

Go to a show. You should be able to get The Beginning EP at the merch table, along with the Thursday/Rabbit March 10" or the Buffalohead 7". Those fine items can also be had at Grimey's in Berry Hill. The Beginning EP can also be ordered now from www.fiercepanda.co.uk with a snazzy new cover it appears. And no, I wasn't paid to plug any of the aforementioned businesses. Dammit. Just a fan fighting the war against musical deprivation.

We wouldn't have a problem even if you were paid to say all that. Lord knows I am. You're just being a loyal member of FIST.
