TOPIC: The Pixies "Hey"
Posted  Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at 11:07 AM
Post 1 of 28
This is a question I've tried to have answered for a while. When I was first getting into the Features, Bowl of Fire got me to download a cover of the Pixies "Hey."

The cover is absolutely incredible and I was wondering when it was performed. Apparently, the performance took place at the Boro, but I haven't been able to find a date. Has anyone heard of them playing this cover at any other time? Just curious. Thanks.

Bill, it was a different time. It was back when we didn't know the Russians were incompetent.

It was part off a Pixies tribute show at the Boro, I believe. I don't think they've ever done that song again, but I could be wrong.

Me too. I'm also still kicking myself for missing the Velvet Underground set. I'm not saying I'm a huge fan, but I bet it would have been a treat nonetheless.

I still wish I could've gone to this show. I'm not a huge Pixies fan (I know==grounds for message board lynching), but it would have been cool to see. And who knows? I might've fallen in love with Rollum that night or something.

This is awesome! I heard rumors a few months ago, but never thought that they would come to fruition. That's gonna be so cool, unless Black pulls some David Lee Roth shit and it falls through. Still though, that's really neat.

Neuboy, perhaps you should check out the HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT thread. This is where all these different forums get a little confusing (I still love you, moderators).
I TOTALLY AGREE!

I think people will become more acclimated to it. As a veteran of several forums, it becomes very easy to navigate these once you're used to the bounds of each forum. I think it's well laid out.

i hope i get to see the pixies...

I blame it on tangential threads.

By the way, has anybody seen the Joe Shmoe Show? It's awesome!

Yes, Carl, and I think I'm pretty addicted to it. I totally scoffed when I saw the advertisements for the show, but then I accidentaly actually watched it the other night and found myself entranced. So cruel...yet...so...funny. I want to feel sorry for this guy, but I just keep laughing!

I need to see the second episode. I want to go on record by saying my theory is that he does know it's fake and they're trying to fool us viewers and possibly the "other contestants".

I love that show! I, much like JC, accidentally watched it last week and found myself completely spellbound. The guy is such a goof that you can't help wanting to watch and see what stupid thing will happen to him next. After he acted like such a nerd when they brought the porno star out, I was shocked to see that he was the first to take his hand off. After he had made all of that fuss, there was no way for him to save face by taking his hand off. It was completely pointless. And, no matter what anyone says, the head housemember robe is not "pimp."

On a side note, has anyone else noticed the uncanny resemblance between Joel from De Novo Dahl and the "asshole" character on the show? It is insane, because at points, I was convinced that it was Joel, or at least it's funnier if you watch it that way.

And, for my sake, I hope that Carl is wrong, because it is sooo much more entertaining if you believe that Joe Schmoe is the one being fooled. Unfortunately, I think that you could be right.

YES! That's the first thing that I thought when I saw him!

And Carl, I think that you could well be right about the tables being turned on the "actors." Fooling one guy is funny, but fooling six people is even funnier. We'll see.

Well, the last episode of Joe Schmoe has been aired; and, unfortunately, the joke was on him. Brother Love and Powder P watched it recently and filled me in this morning. I watched the show religiously for the first five weeks or so, but accidentally missed every episode after that because of Comedy Central. I think they gave him $100k, a vacation, and some other stuff.

Yeah, thanks for bringing it up, RD. The show aired last week, but it still stings a little bit to know I was wrong. Still, it would have been soooo much cooler if he had said, "Yeah, I knew it was a sham all along, but I just thought it would be funny to watch 8 "actors" be on edge about blowing the secret."

I was really pulling for you Carl, I thought it would have been hilarious. I guess the execs just aren't as clever as you.

What a great show that was. I wish they could figure out a way to do another one, or at least a new show that is equally good to fill the void. At least Spike TV still has that Extreme Challange show...and oh yeah, Raw.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

I was going through some old CD's today and found my bootleg of that particular show. I'll double-check the quality of the boot and see if it can't find its way online somewhere. We'll keep that on the d/l though..
