I have to add that playing the Blow It Out studio version from 5:00-5:30 this afternoon greatly relieved my day full of studying and sorrow. Bravo guys! So does this mean that Blow It Out is a shoe-in for the album or was this done at some other time for some other reason?

This was recorded by Craig Krampf and was part of the same session as seen in the Studio Teaser (which will hopefully be stretched to full length soon). I'm not positive if it'll make the new album or not.

Rollum looks like he's posing for a grade school picture. Matt looks very undure about the whole thing.

I like the sxsw picture because it captures Matt's onstage persona: shy, awkward, and sly (sly in the "I'm totally about to flip out and rock!" way).

the picture on the SXSW site is the same one that they used for the BMI showcase a couple months ago. I hung it in my cube and someone asked me that day if that was a new band of Dave Grohl's. I like it Roger.

That picture was also used for their write up that came out in the CityPaper a few months ago. There's a previous thread about it, but I'm too lazy to find it and link it. Plus, the only thing to be gained from that thread is more people saying, "Wow, that's a really neat-o picture!"

I think that's a really neat-o picture, by the way.

Good God. This was exactly what I needed today. Such a fantastic recording... Mr. Kampf has done well. I'm more pumped than ever for this release, regardless of length.

And the pic is great. I agree with Digsy, it truly captures Matt's stage presence. Roger definitely gets the short straw when this photo is used.

Exciting stuff... I know the guy that won best feature last year at SXSW... or was it the Jury Prize for Best Feature.... something like that. Fun festival, anyway. It'll be a great gig for them.

Brian... I've just one question:

Why would you keep this sort of thing from the diehard fans? It seems like the sort of thing you'd advertise. Angry as it makes me, I can understand not being forthcoming about the next release... plans can change, things like that, you'd not want to make any false promises that won't be kept. But this... seems a no-brainer.

I'm not giving you shit, I'm just wondering if you can explain why you'd not tell us about this.

Also, the album that is too good for this recording of Blow it Out is a recording that I can't wait to call my own.

Will,

I told the board about the studio session Blow It Out came from months ago and the Leave It All Behind video was from that session. If I remember I even mentioned what songs were recorded. If I didn't it certainly wasn't meant in any form or fashion a denial to you or the board. The session did not yield a full album's worth of songs. I had no clue then, nor do I now, when the new album will be coming out. There's still recording that will have to take place before there can be an album.

Unfortunately I'm not privy to every decision or reality of the inner workings of the band and I can only post "hard information" when it's given to me to be posted. I'm very much like a puppet in that fashion, but that's a part of the job. Many people on here post rumors that turn out to be true long before I can ever "officially" announce something. LW posted the link to SxSW page before I even knew it existed.

Oh, no, you've definitely been very forthcoming. You didn't know about this SXSW thing, that was all that I meant. It seemed like the sort of thing you'd have told us about in the past.

Now several weeks ago you did hint at something that would be coming our way in the near future... whatever that might be (I remember a bad extended metaphor about you dangling carrots over our heads). If you feel like revealing more about that... I'd love to hear it. But I imagine that its still in the works, whatever it is.

JC,

I was referring to the page created for the Features with the Blow It Out link. I had no idea that was up there until Joe posted the link to it.

Will,

Hmm, what can I say other than Michael and I (though mostly Michael) are working on some cool new things for the site. Can't say more, but hopefully all of this will come online in the next couple of weeks.

I actually heard that the Features were playing sxsw from a girl at work about 3 weeks ago--she wrote me with the news, so I think she's the one with voodoo.
