In preparing for the release of the album, I thought I would revisit the topic of the what the track listing for the album should be.

Here is my dream lineup:

1. Dark Room
2. Speed of 33 and a third
3. Buffalo Head
4. Leave it all Behind
5. The Damage is Done
6. Bring on the Night
7. Someway, Somehow
8. Kari-Ann
9. Circus
10. Bring on the Night
11. The Idea of Growing Old
12. God Save Rock and Roll

Sounds like a masterpiece to me. What would you choose?

You really like 'Bring on the Night', huh? Oh well, Wilco and the Lips did it...

My track listing hasn't changed much from when this came up before:

The album:

01 The Beginning
02 Leave It All Behind
03 Bring On the Night
04 Kari-Ann
05 Temporary Blues
06 33 1/3
07 Buffalo Head
08 Don't Lie To Me
09 Stagecoach
10 Oh My Love
11 Circus
12 The Design (with old lyrics on chorus)

The single:

01 God Save Rock'n'Roll
02 Harold
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Both of you leave off "See You Through." I had that picked for a fan favorite. Oh well.

And Jamie: your single had no A-Side... intentional?

Mine would have, in alphabetical (rather than track) order:

33 1/3
Circus
Leave It All Behind
See You Through
Your Smile

and plenty of others, but I'm not familiar enough to pass that judgement.

Well Wiyum, 'God Save Rock'n'Roll' is the A-side. I'm not sure whether this single would be released at the same time as the album, or later on. I just like it when bands release singles that aren't on any album. Why only 2 songs? Well, I suppose I was thinking "45", but I guess there could be a CD version with more songs...

I am all for the 45 idea. I love vinyl, and the one with Thursday and Rabbit March is one of my favorite (as well as most listened to) records. Of course it is obvious that I would buy anything that The Features put out, since I know that it would be not only be very pleasing, but a top quality product. As for my track listing, I would want these songs to be included:

(I haven't figured out the order just yet...)

-Buffalo Head
-Your Smile
-Temporary Blues
-Kari-Ann
-Oh My Love
-Leave It All Behind
-God Save Rock and Roll
-Paid To Think
-The Design
-See You Through
-33 1/3
-The Idea of Growing Old
-Circus

Honestly, it is hard for me to narrow down JUST 11-13 songs that I would want on the album. I enjoy all three of the newer ones, so I would want them on there too. Maybe we could luck up and get a double disc? I know I am dreaming, but it is a nice thought to entertain. Oh, and I would want their cover of "Walk Like An Egyptian" as a hidden track. smile.gif

This topic was dormant for 1½ months...

I have yet to contribute to this topic and now that I know the new songs, I feel that I should toss my two cents in. I agree with the ol' Ray Davies that the name of the albumshould be "The Features." Self-titled is usually the way to go on a first album and I cannot think of a term/song that defines them as much as their name (coupled with a beautiful Pelham-designed album cover of course).

I do believe my track-listing, leaning more towards newer stuff, would have to be...

1. Circus
2. Buffalo Head
3. See You Through
4. Blow It Out
5. The Design
6. The Damage Is Done
7. Dark Room
8. Leave It All Behind
9. Someway, Somehow
10. Bring On The Night
11. The Idea Of Growing Old
12. God Save Rock & Roll

The single would have to be the planned Buffalo Head/Oh My Love.
