Here's some info on the Features show with the Polyphonic Spree at Nashville's Uptown Mix next Wednesday, 8/11:

Tickets will be available in advance at WRLT's website for $7. Tickets are $10 at the show.

WRLT Lightning 100's website

I'll try and get information on start times and post them here.

According to the website, doors open at 6pm and the show ends around 11pm. I would say get there around 6pm, but don't expect it to start until 6:30 or 7pm.

Hopefully BrianW can hook us up with a more definite time before wednesday.

I've been listening to the new Polyphonic Spree album lately. I think I'm ready to drink the Kool-aid...

believe me, they are an infinitely better live experience...the albums don't do them justice.

For those who didn't get the mailing list mailer (sign up you haven't already!), the Features are scheduled to start at 7pm. I seem to remember that they are normally prompt at Uptown Mix, so don't be late!

Edit: I just bought my $7 advance ticket and noticed WRLT had some great things to say about our Features:

"Quote"
From All Music Guide: Led by former Tripping Daisy member Tim DeLaughter, Dallas symphonic pop group the Polyphonic Spree is less a band than a happening, in the 1960s sense of the word. When the group takes to the stage for a live performance, its two dozen members are costumed in flowing robes of snowy white, an appropriate backdrop for their happy and uplifting musical message that's catchy pop minimally laced by gospel. Fans have compared them to both the Flaming Lips and the Beach Boys, with a smidgen of lively Godspell-like attitude thrown into the mix.

From AskMen.com: Allison Moorer has been able to cultivate a strong country music following without "selling out." From all accounts, she has remained true to her roots, taking fame in stride. Audiences got their first taste of Moorer with the 1998 release of Alabama Song. She truly shone one year later, after getting the opportunity to perform "A Soft Place to Fall" for the film The Horse Whisperer. Moorer sang the track at the Oscars and was also nominated for her efforts.

Opening the show will be Murfreesboro's The Features.

I might make it to this show Wednesday. If I do it'll be my first Features show in a few years (If memory serves Buffalohead and God Save Rock and Roll were sparkling new last I saw 'em). My fingers are crossed.

just got back.... i don't really remember the full setlist, though i do remember (in no order at all).... two by two, walk you home, me and the skirts (i think that's what it was... never heard that one before), mosis ptosis, thursday (of course, the closer), tttwmtb, dark room, million ways, and one (or was it two?) new ones i believe. one of em was the song i heard them practicing that i mentioned in some other post. pretty rockin.

i was right in front, so i didn't have a very great place to hear how it sounded, but from where i was i couldn't hear the vocals at all.

i hadn't ever seen the spree before, and wow. that was amazingly happy. if you just stop thinking about the goofiness of the lyrics, it's one of the most entertaining shows you will see.
