This place needs some help right off the bat, I know. But hey, it works and that's something! There will probably be images here and there that don't really look very good (like those nasty things on the front page) but if I could get some suggestions from you all of what you'd like to see here, I can make some improvements.

One big thing I'm looking for from people are avatars. Little 64x64 images (or smaller) that can be used as icons for different members.

Also, I think the member titles are kind of janked up right now - but hopefully that will work itself out after a bit. I'm just glad we were able to retain the members and the majority (if not all) of the posts.

So please, hit me with the message board requests and I'll get to work on em.

That's amazing that I am member #67. It is my favorite number and it means a lot to me, what a coincidence. If you knew me in high school and I paged you (assuming you were cool and had a pager) I would put in *67 after the number so the receiver would know who I was. After a three day hiatus I couldn't think of anything more irrelevant to post than that.

Yeah, I'm kind of bummed about that, too. For now, you just have to find something on the internet.

Wow. This new format is actually pretty cool. It's filled with lots of information. Like for instance, I did not know that I joined the Features MB at 6:47 AM. Or that I post, on average, 2.7 times per day. Or that 51% of my posts have been in the "Misc." section. I like information. Cheers to the new message board.

Alright. Go to the Your Control Panel link. In there, on the left, will be options. One is to change your avatar. You can do it there. It is an image that goes along with your name when you post. Like mine...its an S...for now anyway. I am trying to think so something clever.

Well, just make sure that stop by and say hey at the shows coming up if you see any of us. I am sure that it would be nice to meet you. I am always up for meeting fellow fans of The Features.

Just because I criticize you, damon, doesn't mean that I criticize others. If you want to fight, we can fight. I am pretty sure I could take you anyway (and, that isn't saying much, given the size difference between us of 5'5" and 6'2"). Anyway, bring it. Fight at The Boro on the 22nd, you all.

So please, hit me with the message board requests and I'll get to work on em.
First of all... Michael, thanks for all of your hard work. I can't imagine that it's been easy to convert the whole board from one software system to another. We all appreciate your hard work (which should be obvious from the amount of activity this place has seen in the last couple of days).

If you're serious about taking user requests, my top three (in no particular order) would be:
- Recovery of older posts.
- Clever SQL statement to change quote tags from older messages to the newer style of quotes. (Actually, the tag format looks the same, but for some reason, they are not properly displayed.)
- Recovery of old private messages (or maybe I'm the only one who used this feature)

Even if the older messages (public or private) can't be put into the new system, I'd like to have them in a text file or something.

OK... forget this one. All of the old posts are here. In order to see them, you have to change the "from" setting from "the last 30 days" to "the beginning" when viewing a forum. Perhaps I should actually explore the message board before making requests.

I would like to replace this request with another one:

- The ability to upload avatars

Good suggestions. I think there is a script to convert old private messages to the new system.. I will do some snooping around during the next week and see if I can get it working.

As for uploading avatars to the server I am very hesitant. Mostly because server space is limited and we've already cheesed off our host once by having the old msg board kill the server (my fault I'm sure). But screw it, we're nowhere near the server limit and if you guys use it responsibly it should be cool (if you don't.. I can just turn it off). Using your avatar as a template, I'm going to limit the filesize to 5k (and the image size is no bigger than 64x64). Should be turned on by the time you read this (assuming I don't encounter any problems).

Yeah. Well, under my cap and gown at least. No, the pain was that I had to squat down so the dean could place the hood around my neck. I have a bum foot so when I crouched down a pain shot straight up my leg, right when the picture was being taken.

Back to the avatar stuff....

So, if I decide to change my avatar and upload a new one, will it replace the old one or just pile up on the server. I don't want to bog it down, but I wouldn't mind some variety.
