What song from Exhinit A would you release next in the UK? Just curious on people's opinion. For those who don't know, Leave it all Behind and Blow It Out have already been released.

I thought the UK singles were TAMWTSTB and LIAB while the US got TWIMTB and Blow it Out.

Yes, as they've released four singles off of the album I think it's time they closed the book on that one.

How about one of the 'new' tracks from the last tour that haven't been released in the UK- for instance, Hold You Alone and Thursday would both make great singles.

Hold You Alone is yet to be recorded, but a good choice none the less. I'd say they should release either one of the bonus tracks, circus, or harder to ignore.

TWIMTB was released as a limited single by Fierce Panda. It was the first UK single, but not really promoted. Island is re-releasing it as a single July 11.

Pretty sure... I seem to have a recollection about doing a music video for it... but then again that was my smack and 'ho's days. Now it's just smack OR 'ho's... no more mixing the two.

I have high doubts that any recording could actually do Thursday justice. Yes, many folks come to this forum mentioning how it was their favorite, but I see it more as a live fan favorite than a hit single. Plus, I'd be surprised if Pelham would be willing to release a song that's several years old. If so, I would think it would be Exorcising Demons or Darkroom.

I personally think that Situation Gone Bad and Exhibit A would be the most radio friendly tracks from the album. The former has a jazzy feel that would be popular in a Maroon 5 kinda way (only 100 times cooler) and the latter continues wth the "whoa whoa whoa" sing-along formula that has made Blow it Out such a hit with the newcomers.

If they're re-releasing Million Ways, I also think TWIMTB should also get a second shot as I think that it's one of their most accessible songs to date.

EDIT: I obviously misread the notice from "you". What I meant to say was: They're re-releasing TWIMTB? AWESOME! Good choice!

I think Exhibit A would be great to be released as a single but I really really enjoyed Mosis Ptosis live although i don't know how radio friendly it is

I agree.

I would love to see "Circus" released, but I don't know if it really sounds like a radio song.

After eating a bunch of shrooms friday and listening to the entire Exhibit A cd on repeat for 6 hours straight I now have every track on it scarred onto my brain which should now make me an afficionado.................i would have to say " Me and the Skirts " should be the next single (contrary to my previous post) blink.gif

In order to answer this question, I think you have to look back to the first time you listened to Exhibit A in its entirety and recall which song it was that stood out to you the most. Even though I had already heard various live and studio versions of some of the songs, I would have to say that Me and the Skirts was indeed the first song that jumped out at me upon listening to the at the time 'new' album. Therefore I agree Me and the Skirts would be an excellent choice.

I don't think Me and The Skirts represents their sound very well, but it seems to go over well with new fans. Same thing with Idea of Growing Old.

I think it's quite radio friendly, except maybe the quiet middle eight.

But AndyP is right, they've released 4 singles off Exhibit A in the UK - that's more than enough. I. Want. New. Songs.

I didn't realise they'd been signed by Island though. That's great news! I get lost when it comes to what label The Features are on now.

After a 3 day heroin binge, I've decided that The Features "harsh my groove". They need to make an atmosphere album.

I'd say the post by Features Administrator "You" on this thread announcing that the single will be re-released on July 11th may also be some sort of cryptic clue.

So what're the B-sides?
33 1/3 (the Mahaffey version)

By the way, for those wondering how The Features spent the 4th of July in the UK:
"Quote from Matt Meeks @ Jul 4 2005"
We actually grilled out hotdogs and burgers behind the venue. I think the Kings have some afteshow firecrackers to boot. It was a very nice "America Day" over here. We made sure all the brit crew were aware of it.

The single will also include the video for The Way... directed by our own beloved Peace Frog (aka Chad Denning).

By the way, curious parties will be interested to know that Matthew Pelham was responsible for the kitties on the cover. From my understanding, his idea was to come up with an image of something that is normally sweet and inocent and adding a little ferocity to it-- much like the lyrics of the song are very sweet and innocent but the execution is quite fierce.

Me and my friend saw the single but it only had the one track! It had a different cover that is much more similar to the album and blow it out single layout.

The single was originally released by Fierce Panda Records. This version won't be released until monday. Probably what you saw was a radio promo. You should check out the discography section on the website.

I just checked but it wasn't there. All the cover had was the background colour of the album (UK) and the Features logo on it.

I completely missed the revelations in this thread. And here was me wondering why someone other than me was shouting for Speed of 33 1/3 last night.

That's because what you saw was probably a radio promo. I believe the discography only has releases that are/were commercially available. I directed you to the discography so you could see if it was the fierce Panda single. If it's not on there, what you probably saw was a promo.

So the postcard says 'Limited edition coloured vinyl' on it, but all the stock copies I've seen are boring black.

Any clues?

Great video BTW.

NME Weekly Track Review: The Features - They Way It's Meant To Be.
"Record companies, eh? The Features understand that handclaps and guitar riffs sound great together and an opening lyric which goes, "Little fingers/Little toes!". All good. Trouble is. 'The Way It's Meant To Be' sounds like a noisy demo for The Strokes' third album. However B-side 33 1/3 is a global smash waiting to happen, being a perfect synthesis of the Inspiral Carpets' 'This Is How It Feels' and The Cure's 'Boys Don't Cry (trust us). At least you know which to burn. PM"

The album gets 8/10 in NME yet the main single always gets a thumbs down from the critics (it was the same when Blow It Out was released). This suggests the wrong songs are being released! Get releasing Exorcising Demons, Exhibit A or Me & The Skirts now!

Am I right in thinking that the only 'official' releases that don't have the current Features lineup on them is the original EP and the Spongebath samplers? And is it the same guys on the Spongebath samplers as on the EP? Or is it more complicated than that? This is the disadvantage of living a sizeable distance from TN- it's hard to know stuff like this.
