Apparently on sunday, the 5th, from 5-7 pm, WPRB will be doing a spotlight on Spongebath Records. I guess a short history lesson, and then a lot of songs by various ex-Spongebath artists, including our very own Features.

That's a good assumption. For whatever reason, it did not cross my mind.

Interesting. I didn't know that anyone gave a shit about Spongebath outside of the southeast, especially 3 years after they went out of business.

I'm going to listen to it.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

So did anyone else check this out? Well, in case you didn't, here's what was played:

Features songs
- Armani Suede
- Bumblebee
- Rabbit March
- Dark Room
- See You Through

Count Bass D
- Antemeridian
- Sanctuary
- Seven Years

The Katies
- Tappin' Out
- Ode to SG
- Hairclip

Call Florence Pow
- I'm Travelling
- Periodic Table
- Creepy Girls
- Preparation for Battle

Fluid Ounces
- Have fun
- Downscope, the Boat Captain

Self
- Sophmore Jinx
- Marathon Shirt
- Lucid Anne
- Crimes on Paper
- KiDdies
- Cinderblocks for Shoes
- Meg Ryan
- Uno Song
- What Are You Thinking!?
- What a Fool Believes

An interesting idea for a radio show... but I would've expected to hear it on an MTSU or Vanderbilt station instead of Princeton's campus radio. The DJ, Kevin, noted that he really liked Call Florence Pow and had seen them play a couple of times in New Jersey. He said that he wanted to play more Fluid Ounces but couldn't due to "technical difficulties" (CD scratches). He also comment that he had a really hard time finding music for most of the bands. In fact, he had to rely on MP3's downloaded from the web for the Katies.

He had a few of his facts mixed up, but that's understandable. For example, he said that the Features recorded with Mahaffey in 2002 and that the "Thursday" EP was released in 2001 or 2002.

Favorite quote: "Maybe [Seth Timbs] knows too much about music... if that's possible."

Damn, I really wanted to listen to that, but I forgot. Sounds like it was a good time.

He must've done a good job introducing those songs, b/c you wouldn't know those all be yourself, TF!

You are correct, sir.

Kevin's comments + allmusic.com = Correct track listing

JC, I used some software to record the streaming audio from the show. If you're really interested in it, I can hook you up.

You rock, Tom.

I know that YaDaToken would love to hear it, but I bet that task won't be so hard to accomplish.

By the way, did Kevin make any significant remarks on any other of the bands, namely the Features? If so, I assume they were positive?

The only speciific comment that I recall is that he said the Features were the label's most diverse band (besides Self).

I don't think Keven knew much about Spongebath. I think that he liked Self and Call Florence Pow so he decided to do a radio show that highlighted the label's music. Given the lack of information that's available, I think he did a fine job.
