Well, here's my take on it. I'm bad at lyrics anyway, so go ahead and edit.

Foundations Cracked:

(verse 1)
I get my thoughts from the ground…. ground
And everywhere with you . . . you
It should be structurally sound . . . sound
To ever stand up to you.

(chorus)
As quick as pick can be late . . . late
A building once you can find . . . find
Some kind of shelter to save . . . save
Every coupon I find
Ahh, but we’re in love
And weed’s will grow
In time I find
Foundation’s cracked
And I forget about that… every time

Verse 2 (no clue)

(chorus)
As quick as pick can be late . . . late
A building once you can find . . . find
Some kind of shelter to save . . . save
Every coupon I find
Ahh, but we’re in love
And weed’s will grow
In time I find
Foundation’s cracked
And I forget about that… every time

I know that you’re always right . . . right
My deconstruction is through
I’ll tie my thoughts up tonight . . . night
And we’ll just sleep in with you.

I build my thoughts from the ground, ground
And every room with a view ooo hoooo
It should be structurally sound, sound
to ever stand up to you

As quick as brick can be laid, laid
I'm building walls to provide
some kind of shelter to save, save
Every good point? I find

Oh but wind will blow
And weeds will grow inside your mind
Foundations cracked
and you forget the facts of every time

blah blah made, made
I plan to compromise
our progress has been delayed, layed
I'll reconsider design
Oh boy you better beware, ware
you're getting over your head, head
its looking less like a home, home
and looking more like a shed

Oh and wind will blow
weeds will grow
inside your mind
Foundations cracked
when you forget the facts of every time

I know that you're always right, right
My deconstruction is through, ooo hooo
I'll pack up my thoughts tonight, night
and we'll just move in with you.

**The version I have might be totally different than what you have heard because we all know that lyrics change constantly.

I have to say that Matt's lyrics are getting better and better. And there isn't even a diaper or pregnant belly in this song!

GREAT basis to work with mindy, but yeah, they have changed a little. Using your lyrics to help, here's the best transcription of the lyrics as of 8/19/05 I can manage:

I build my thoughts from the ground, ground
And every room with a view* ooo hoooo
It should be structurally sound, sound
to ever stand up to you

As quick as brick can be laid, laid
I'm building walls to provide
Some kind of shelter to save, save
Every good point(?) I find

Oh but wind will blow
And weeds will grow inside my mind
Foundation's cracked
And I forget the facts of every time

There's a room** to be made, made
I plan to compromise
You ??? laid, laid
I'll reconsider design
As quick as brick can be laid, laid
I'm building walls to provide
Some kind of shelter to take, take
Every end that (angle??) I find [not sure if either is correct]

*repeat chorus*

I know that you're always right, right
My deconstruction is through, ooo hooo
I'll pack up my thoughts tonight, night
and we'll just sleep in with you.

*Confident that this is what the lyric is supposed to be, but as Matt sings it 8/19 it's "every room with you"...probably just a mistake on the fly that night though, as I doubt he'd consciously try to rhyme "you" with "you" like that.

**Matt's guitar spits out some distortion just as he sings this word so it's hard to here...but it sounds like "room" and that does make sense.

and what version would that be? biggrin.gif

Thanks for the lyrics... that second verse had me going insane!!! I'll echo Digsy's sentiments on the song writing. This second album will no doubt top the first.

I can't wait for #2. I hope there is a #2.

I saw them in ATL at the Earl. Most of us stayed because we played there the night before and found out The Features were going to be there the next night.

They were amazing. Gates of Hell and Foundations, although bad for a drunk crowd just wanting to move and shake, were great. Rollum especially was captivating my attention. He was throwing in some very creative stuff. I think they were all playing off of the 'out of town' energy which is always a different feeling than playing in front of your home crowd.

We played that day at Criminal Records.

The Pink Spiders crew came in as we were playing. Well, the ones who weren't being arrested at the time.

I'm just going to take a stab at it;

I pull my thoughts from the ground, ground
In every room with you, oooo
It should be structurally sound, sound
to ever stand up to you

As quick as brick can be laid, laid
I'm building walls to provide
Some kind of shelter to save, save
Every good point I find

Oh but wind will blow
And weeds will grow
inside my mind
Foundation's cracked
And I forget about facts, oh, every time

There's a room to be made, made
I plan to compromise
You'll get your engine delayed
I'd reconsider design
As quick as brick can be laid, laid
I'm building walls to provide
Some kind of shelter to save, save
Every angle I find

Oh but wind will blow
And weeds will grow
inside my mind
Foundation's cracked
And I forget about that, oh, every time

I know that you're always right, right
My deconstruction is through, ooo hooo
I'll pack up my thoughts up tonight, tonight
and we'll just leave it with you
