TOPIC: Someway, Somehow

So here's Someway Somehow, as best as I could do, as performed on August 24th at 12th and Porter. All of TF's suggestions below have been incorporated (thanks to being able to edit posts).
By comparison, the lyrics were rather different at the May 2nd show, but were the same at the recent Blue Cats show, so these should probably be the right ones, nowadays.

--------------------------------------------

I know its hard on you
When your world has changed.
Forget the map that you knew
Because its been rearranged.

Oh, Oh. Don't you cry.
Oh, Oh. Don't worry cause,
No need to be alone,
I'll never let you down,
I'll keep you safe from harm,
Someway, somehow.

I get the feeling you knew
Just how hard it would be.
Sometimes a good point of view
Is not so easy to see.

Oh, Oh. Don't you cry.
Oh, Oh. Don't worry cause,
No need to be alone,
I'll never let you down,
I'll keep you safe from harm,
Someway, somehow.
No need to count on me,
I'll always be around,
Give everything you need,
Someway, Somehow.

I think I know where you've been,
When situations arrive,
So when it happens again,
I'll be the one,
I'll be around by your side.

Oh, Oh. Don't you cry.
Oh, Oh. Don't worry cause,
No need to be alone,
I'll never let you down,
I'll keep you safe from harm,
Someway, Somehow.
No need to count on me,
I'll always be around,
Give everything you need,
Someway, Somehow.
Someway, Somehow.
Someway, Somehow.

For the opening, I heard:

Forget the map that you knew

ah, you beat me to the lyrics. tongue.gif

Good job nonetheless, I would have probably seriously screwed them up somehow.

screwed them up someway, somehow?

No, I got the idea from you and the fact that the lyrics have changed since the 5-2 recording that is on the mp3 site.

for the chorus i always hear, "no need to be alarmed." this comes a little closer to rhyming than alone does.
This topic was dormant for 17½ months...

At the risk of bringing up a topic that's 18 months old or so...

On the UK version at least, he sings:

"No, you can count on me,
I'll always be around,
Give everything you need,
Someway, Somehow."

...instead of...

"No need to count on me,
I'll always be around,
Give everything you need,
Someway, Somehow."

Which, to be fair, makes a lot more sense too.

Couldn't it be ...

"Know you can count on me"?

It could be either, they both make sense.

The song seems to be talking to someone who doesn't believe nyone will be there for them... so saying "No, you can count on me" fits in with that theme (and adds some sort of symmetry with the "No need to be alone line)... but equally, so does "Know you can count on me".

I guess we'll never know...

This may be obvious, but I always imagine the narrator trying to comfort and reassure the future mother of his children. Could be wrong...

I think it is about reassuring the little ones. Either one fits, though.

I'll be around by your side.
I hear
"I'll be there right by your side."

I have also thought
"when situations awry"
could work as well...
