TOPIC: The Idea of Growing Old

Not exactly complete and I can't understand the pre-choruses at all, so I put two potential lyrics they might be in there.

We can talk all night, We can talk all day
We can play charades when there is nothing to say
You turn me on to the idea of growing old

I'll make you coffee if you make me (smile?)
We can play (something?) when the kids stay a while
You turn me on to the idea of growing old

(You make me young
and you make me old?)

You turn me on to the idea of growing old

You can get around by (something?)
You can hear the engines from the (something?) (in your eye?)
You turn me on to the idea of growing old

You in your kerchif and I in my cap
We can settle down for an afternoon nap
You turn me on to the idea of growing old

(It won't be long
oh it won't be long?)

You turn me on to the idea of growing old

I am picking up the second chorus as this:

I could make you coffee
You could make me smile
We can make oragami with the kids for a while
You turn me on to the idea of growing

Here are the changes (in bold):

We can talk all night
We can talk all day
We can play charades when there is nothing to say

You turn me on to the idea of growing old

I'll make you angry if you make me smile
We can make oragami with the kids for a while
You turn me on to the idea of growing old

Now it won't be long
No, it won't be long
Whooooooooooooooa
Whooooooooooooooa
Whooooooooooooooa

You turn me on to the idea of growing old
Turn me on to the idea of growing old

We can count the number of times
I've acted foolish and you've rolled your eyes

You turn me on to the idea of growing old

You in your kerchif and me in my cap
We can settle down for an afternoon nap
You turn me on to the idea of growing old

Now it won't be long
No it won't be long
Whooooooooooooooa
Whooooooooooooooa
Whooooooooooooooa

You turn me on to the idea of growing old
Turn me on to the idea of growing old
Turn me on to the idea of growing old
Turn me on to the idea of growing old

Whooooooooooooooa
Whooooooooooooooa
Whooooooooooooooa
Whooooooooooooooa

You turn me on to the idea of growing old
You turn me on to the idea of growing old

I'm not sure if Tom was right with "and you've rolled your eyes," but it's pretty close.

The other big change is that the music goes from the loud "whooooooooa" to the very quiet intro, and then Matt sings the last two "You turn me on"s.

I love Rollum to death and he's a great drummer, but I've always thought this song had too much drums.
I can't grow a beard, and I don't like to party.

The original version of the song had the right amount of drummy goodness. And what's with the "angry" line? I thought "coffee" was much better...

On a positive note, playing Features songs in my head has become a nice way of cheering myself up during this horrid work weekend...

I too liked "coffee" better than "angry"

The words that the new couplet replaced were the ones that I could never understand anyway. I think it'll just take some getting used to the new way.

On the contrary, it is much appreciated.

Token and I get *the new piano* today, so we're going to rock out to this one today.

That's right! So thank you very much, Mark Spencer.

I always heard:

We'll tend the garden with the kids for a while

instead of the oragami thing. Then again, I could be wrong. How sure are you of those lyrics? The angry line doesn't seem to make sense either.

"Angry" is a recent change. I still prefer coffee.

He definitely says oragami.

i thought it was something like "i can make you angry, i can make you smile" the other night, which would make more sense.

it also took me til this friday to realize the second verse of "me & the skirts" is another baby reference. you think id catch on by now...
