Radiohead and Queens of the Stone Age are pretty good... the rest are, well, not. Hardly a decent station.

Wha? I had no idea that they were getting airplay on secular stations. Good for them.

The Buzz still sucks overall. Actually, It makes me sad that good songs are played in the midst of other crap like that. I do like most of what I've heard of the HHH, but I haven't bought the album yet.

exactly how I feel. I tried to listen to that shit station for about an hour when they were giving away White Stripes tickets, and I just could not do it for any longer than that. The fact that they play Herbal Escence (or as some people like to call it, Evanescence)...well, that's enough for me to never listen to it. If I want to listen to The White Stripes or Radiohead, I can put in a tape.

now now, radiohead, jane's addiction, queens of the stone age, hot hot heat (who i happen to like) and AFI are all good bands. i haven't heard AFI's new single but i love their old stuff. from what i understand, though it sounds as crappy as that "new 'punk'" shit. anyway, ya gotta give them a little credit. sounds better than any station we have here... wink.gif
thank you for being a friend.

its not the bands in question......its how the radio literally crams music down your throat until the public can't bear it anymore. they wear everything out.

Sorry, but the only two I care to listen to on that list are Radiohead and The White Stripes, but that's just me. I've just never been a fan of the others. If I happen to pass by that station (which is a rarity since I think the radio sucks in general and never listen to it, other than Ray Davies' show, of course wink.gif ), it's always playing some new metal-sounding junk. It's all poo to me.

I haven't listened to anything but the CDs in my changer and talk radio for about 2 years because of that very problem. I hate everything on the radio now, except for a random moment when I scan past WRLT and they are playing something I like. It's really hit or miss with them though.

Even 99X in Atlanta has taken a nosedive since around 98/99. I used to get excited when driving there and the station started to come in range because it was so good and I wished we had a station like that here.

Unfortunately, they have started playing the same old crap that everyone else is playing and last time I was there I heard Eminem on the station. With a tear in my eye, I turned it off and listened to my CDs again.

The Buzz blows hard. I used to love listening to the radio, but the only radio I listen to anymore are the Oldies station(s), eighties station, and Vandy (occassionally). Honestly though, CDs are better.

It does suck. It's got a tad of goth on top of the "new punk" but it definitely has a healthy helping of both. The album is sort of enjoyable to listen to a few times, but it's not a great album. Definitely subpar. It just seems to me like Davey Havok is trying to play himself off as a mix between Glenn Danzig and Robert Smith (The Cure)... he comes off like an ass...

Holy crap! I've never heard of that! How can something intangible like music be literally crammed down one's throat? By an inanimate object nonetheless! That is astounding! I'm very much intrigued by the notion, but I'm afraid to turn on the radio now for fear of choking to death. Plus, I'll bet it's hard to get the notes from between your teeth.

My petty semantics aside, I think this is exactly the point. We obviously can't have a valid discussion here about whether or not radio sucks because it breaks down into "I like this" "I can't fucking stand that" and "People who like this shit on a shingle they call popular music are completely mindless morons". One can fault a radio station, however, for not providing variety. In that case, from what I can tell, the Buzz sucks. So does AFI. You're stupid if you think otherwise.

It's a little of both from what I have noticed. I know that I heard "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" yesterday afternoon, but have also noticed some newer stuff creeping into rotation. It sucks.

I'll have to say that the radio sucks and I hardly ever listen to the radio when I get in my car. The only problem is when I ride with others then I am subjected to the never ending cycle of bullshit songs that are actually getting air time?! whaa? I can't believe some of the stuff I hear on 102.9 the buzz. The way they mix it all together is horrible an makes me lose interest quickly. When I listen to the radio my finger ends up getting more exercise than my ears b/c I'm changing it to another station. So CD's are my only true friends in the car.

Am I the only person young enough to remember Thunder 94? God, I dearly miss that station............so much good music on there.......allegiance to good local bands - self, fluid ozs,etc - it was the golden age of Nashville radio. Of course, like anything else good, it was taken off the air. The most traumatic moment of my life was turning on that station and realizing not only were my favorite DJs gone (randy and the little round dude), but my music had been replaced with Shania Twain. It still causes me to wake up in a cold sweat sometimes.
It's all about taking the easy way out for you, I suppose.
