I would like to announce that channel 69 is now the Game Show network. Now I can enjoy my addict-I mean my hobby in the comfort of my own room! I do advise everyone to at least watch one episode of Match Game and then tell me how retarded I am for being obsess-I mean being entertained by such an insanely technicolor piece of 70s film.

And some random thoughts that I couldn't put anywhere else: The new No Doubt video looks like a Skittles commercial and Sprint is using the Dandy Warhols' song "Ride" in a commercial. What is up with that? I know "Bohemian Like You" was everywhere (from Buffy to the Clockstoppers movie...) but "Ride"? Wow...someone from Sprint must be a fan...

Wow! I got so excited when I saw that, I immediately turned to channel 69 and you are indeed correct. Unfortunately, the first image I saw was former MTV VJ Kennedy hosting some lame new gameshow. Give me Let's Make A Deal and Press Your Luck. Not this new crap.

You know what they should really have? Remote Control reruns.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Kennedy's show, Friend of Foe?, is actually the best out of the crop of 3 new shows (Whammy!, Russian Roulette). Whammy! is a nice concept (a revamp of Press Your Luck) but Todd Newton is satan. Period.

And sad news. My first avatar on this board was of Monty Hall and I am a fan of LMAD, but the wanks at GSN replaced it's weekday timeslots with Lingo! Aug. 5th. It does still come on in the afternoons on Weekends though.

Oh snap....it's sad that I knew all of that off the top of my head......

I'm glad to know that they are still show "let's make a deal", it was one of the main shows that I watched. They should show old "remote control" reruns. But I have one question....Do they still show Rock and Roll Jeopardy? I hope it's not cancelled, it was going to be the way I made my millions.....

Rock N Roll Jeopardy is still shown on weekday mornings like it used to be. I totally agree with the statement of "that's how I plan to make my millions." Prior to GSN being basic cable I could only watch it at my grandparents house in east TN. I would amaze my extended family with my knowledge (which is only mildly extensive). Of course then they would go back to concentrating on the UT football game so...

Eh right now I'm watching Hollywood Squares and I would just like to comment that Paul Lynde has impeccable taste. Aside from the horrendous X-O glittery jacket that he wears sometimes, he has the coolest wardrobe by far on GSN (with Chuck Reilly & Monty Hall coming in after that).

And yes I am flipping in between GSN and American Idol. What's up with that show?

70's game shows are cool cause sometimes they don't even care who wins - they just want the celebrity guests to be funny. I saw an episode of match game once and at the end they were like "ok well it's a tie.. thats the game.. goodnight."

That's what Match Game is my favorite game show of all time. It works on so many different levels. Yes it's a game show but the laid-back attitude and the general merriment (or drunkeness, not sure which) seem to radiate off the TV when it's on. The reason Match Game 90 and the one in 98 were hugely unsuccessful were because the hosts were lame (Ross Shafer and Michael Berger?) and the contestants were not as full of personality as the ones in the original. Things broke down on Match Game. Gene Rayben messed up questions. It was great and genius in it's unprofessionalism.

This is why I'm a mass com major. I cannot discuss politics or current events with even the smallest bit of intelligence, but I can analyze the reasons why game shows were successful. I better bome a TV writer. I can't do anything else.
