so, i thought i would start this thread in addition to the NOTING thread.

my vote - any record by the greatful dead is worth nothing.

ringo star's solo albums are worth very little

john frusciante's solo albums are absolutely worth zilch.

dammit i spelled albums wrong. ph34r.gif

Anything by Phish. No offense JC, but Phish sucks.

A little off topic, but anything by:
Train
Creed
Emo, in general
Pink Floyd: Anything post-Wall. Though I don't even like the Wall much, it is worth more than crap.
Hives: Pre-Veni Vidi Vicious
Grateful Dead
Cher - Any era
Aerosmith
Scorpions
2nd Ace of Base Album
Dave Matthews - Everything but the 1st album.
Recent Hootie & the Blowfish
Jam music, in general
Lynyrd Skynyrd after the first death
Molly Hatchet
Creedence Clearwater Revival, or any band with Revival in it's name, for that matter. Hurricane Mills Revival, blah!

This is an excellent topic.

agreed. To Record Only Water For Ten Days or whatever the hell he called it was regarded as a comedy album in my last apartment.

my picks:
Metallica after the black album (i have debated whether the black album should be included in this, but I tend to like the black album alright)
anything by Tantric
Creed after My Own Prison (i like My Own Prison for the most part)
Snoop Dog presents Tha East Sidaz
the new incarnation of The Misfits (Jerry Only should be shot.)

I'm also gonna agree with RD and say that Jam Band music is horrid.

In context, I enjoy those occasionally...especially my favorite song from it all, "Your Pussy Is Glued to a Burning Building"

I agree largely with RD's list.

2nd Ace of Base Album
I was listening to the first album, The Sign, today after a certain lw and I talked about how we wanted to cover "The Sign" if we were ever in a (another for him) band (or in separate bands...whatever) last night. The 2nd Ace of Base album was a let down, I'm afraid. I do own it, but that's b/c I worked out to It's a Beautiful Life the summer between 7th grade and 8th grade. That song helped me lose 25 pounds, so it is relevant while the rest of the CD is irrelevant.

And, Creed fucking blows. Let me get a list together, and I shall return.

how can you even put those 4 in the same category?????

david gray, while he may not be everyone's favorite, is an undeniably good song writer.

de novo dahl is a fucking awesoime band and god knows how many people on this board will back me up on this, if only in their hearts...

even the middle two can't be compared to each other...i mean, sugar ray sucks ass, and mellissa etheridge doesn't put out my kind of music, but she IS a good songwriter.
not to mention the fact that she is an open lesbian which has paved the way for many show business dykes to make music freely.

Yo, I'm just kidding girl! I can't go on demeaning someone's character like that, not to mention muddying the water and giving people wrong pre-conceptions - the people in De Novo Dahl are some of the nicest I have ever met, no joke. I was kidding about the songs, too. I'm such a softie and a bad liar.

david gray is not a good song writer

Albums worth nothing but for which i paid something:
Billy Bob Thornton -My Private Radio (I knew it would be bad but i just had to know what kind of bad)
Psychotica -Espi'na (Their first album is still a guity pleasure)
R.E.M. -Up and Reveal (Actually I tried to find virtue in these but to no avail)*
Duran Duran -Pop Trash (Classic eighties to....I don't even know)
White Zombie-Astrocreep 2000 (Instant regret)

*edit-Up and Reveal have ceased to suck.

I hate to do this, but I have to... The black album is my least favorite Metallica album. Why, you ask? Because when your mother likes it more than you do, there's something wrong. Granted, my mom is young, but holy shit.

I love the early thrashy stuff, and I love the Load-era stuff. It's great if you can accept it for what it is: a heavy (not double-bass, weedily deedily solo heavy), riff rocking punch in the face of those who think they have this band figured out.

That said, Re-Load was a disappointment, because it didn't really take the listener to a new place like Load did.

Sorry for the rant.

Signed,
Johnny Thunder, Metallica fan since 1985.

As do The Bacon Brothers, in my opinion. But, you know, I'm not a bacon fan.

I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to music, so I could name quite a few....anything by Justin Timberlake, Creed, Staind, Nickelback/creek or whatever they're called rolleyes.gif (and the like of those awful bands that all sound the same), and Van Halen ( I know there will be some arguments on this one, but I just can't take that junk).

I want to take this opportunity to mention my hatred for anything soul or motown related. Specifically, anything involving Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, and all those women. "Respect" is in my top three most hated songs of all time.

there are some records and/ or artists that are so badd, they don't need mentioning . .. ie justin timberlake... however he WAS mentioned. so i guess that blows that theory.

it seems to me...bands like creed, hootie and the blowfish, new kids on the block (despite their sentimental value), ya know, why bother.

its a well known fact that ace of bass sucks. 'tis also a well known fact that pretty much any solo career launched by someone formerly in a highly successful boy/ girl band is going to suck. the only exception being michael jackons of the jackons 5, and honestly, look what hapened to him . . .

Creedence I can understand. I can take them in small doses.

I think your soulful hatred of soul (I am still the pun KING) is interesting. Any reason that you feel this way?? I'm not really an Aretha fan, but I like the vast ajority of it.

Whoa, people, don't get your panties in a wad. But, I mean it. Ray Davies can tell you how much I hate that stuff. I don't know why I dislike it so much. Maybe the word "anything" was an exaggeration. There might be two or three songs I can tolerate. I think the reason I hate "Respect" so much is because it's used as a female anthem, and stupid females try to use it to get across the "Women rule, Men suck" idea that I completely disagree with. If there's one thing I cannot take, it's the idea that men have to have a song sung to them to show women respect.

I believe my hatred, or extreme disliking, of motown stems from a second grade performance where I had to sing backup for the entire thing. I had to sing all of those songs over and over again, and I hated them all by the time it was over. Every time I hear "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay", "Dancin' in the Street", or any song in the genre, I think of the second grade...and of course, I hated school then, like I do now, so I don't like to think about those times.

I don't know why I hate soul so much. But, to confront Ceeze's comment, I have no problem with Marvin Gaye. I guess I should restrict my extreme hatred for soul to the female sector of it.

And, I'm sorry, Stalker, for mentioning the obvious. When someone mentioned Limp Bizkit and the like earlier, I figured it was okay for me to mention the obvious since they did.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

yes, i was thinking the same exact thing yesterday when i stumbled into the white stripes board (if you can even stuble into such a thing) nonetheless, they have prolly 20 smilies to choose from and strangly enough, they weren't all slightly different variations of the walmart smile.

yeah, sadie, youre on my bad list now.  and im putting the beatles on it too because it seems to be the only band that you like and now i just associate them with you and your hatred for motown.  see how irrational that was?  its almost as irrational as calling "sittin on the dock of the bay" motown.
It is a completely rational reason. I can't listen to certain songs without recalling a time period in my life. If said period wasn't a good one, the song is tainted. It's perfectly logical and happens to a lot of people.

you misread what i said.
I misread what you typed.

Okay you two. Sit down, take a breath, read what you've said to one another, and just try and imagine justifying it to anyone as legitimate discourse...

i thought thats what you were trying to accomplish by being pointlessly nitpicky with her post. now i know you knew no good could come of doing that.

Fair enough, but that was coming. In either case, both of you were being so nitpicky I couldn't believe that the two of you were both over the age of four. I mean, arguing over the semantics on "said" versus "typed"... Is the summer really this boring?

Geez, I was just joking.

Of course, now we're arguing over whether we were arguing or not. Screw this! Everyone go see "From Justin to Kelly" right now! It's amazing!

Yeah, I have to clarify that I DID NOT PAY to see it. The people that did pay to see it were very odd...an elderly married couple, a middle-aged couple and their extremely rambunctious daughter, and two pre-teen boys.

It is worth renting on VHS for, like, $3 if that's possible.

I want to take this opportunity to mention my hatred for anything soul or motown related.
My ears weep for this blasphemy. You know, as much as much as ears can weep. I demand you take this back in the name of Marvin Gaye, god rest his soul.

Oh, and "R. Salvatore", tell me you're not named for J.R.R. Tolkien plagiarist R.A. Salvatore. Please
I'd love to oblige you, Ceeze, but that's exactly what it is.
