I actually pass Mboro every Monday right at 6am so I've listened a couple of times. Once was when you played Figure 8 in its entirety (kudos for that) and the last time there was some trance-y stuff on- I assumed your alarm clock hadn't gone off. But thanks for the Elliott, at least

'friends' is way better than 'pet sounds'. it pisses me off that some of the beach boys best music goes unnoticed because of that album. it's like saying 'sgt. pepper's...' is the greatest beatles album and ignoring the rest of their catalog.

personally, i enjoy the 'smile' bootleg i have more than pet sounds, but for the sake of giving people an excellent album of the week that doesnt fill up the whole show, we chose pet sounds.

Yes call me lame but I have decided to spend my Sunday morning going through all the stuff that I missed while I was...well suffering through the second semester of my senior year. I came across this and thought that I would say that Across the Pond actually introduced me to the Hives. I did listen every morning on the way to good ol' SHS. One morning I wanted to hear Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground but didn't have a CD player, and it was played and I was hooked after that.

So that's my story. Way-hey.

Or you can be like me: programmed to do it. Yeah right now I get up at 11 or so, but when school starts it'll be up at 6, bed by 10 without fail. I can try to resist but it is no use. I can feel the icy fingers of learning creeping up on me...slowly...it's only a week away!

And I still have to read The Color of Water and go to a seminar next week. If it is anything like the customs HELL then I will definitely drop out and get that College-at-home-thing that Sally Struthers won't stop talking about.

first of all...

getting up in college sucks even worse, but luckily you have the ability to sleep between classes. it's nothing like customs, in that you aren't forced to interact with overly perky tennesseans (this coming from a west virginian perspective- perky tennessee girls can be annoying when you don't care what they're talking about- maybe it's the accent) who bullshit you about everything.

second of all...

well, there really is no second of all. i made it up. anyways, i'd be willing to bet that you break your normal sleep patterns. it's part of the lifestyle.

is sally struthers still alive? last time i saw she was looking prone to heart failure...

I swear I spent 2/3 of the two orientation days sitting around doing nothing. And the people....I've never seen so many frat guys and *Happy Happy* girls. And trust me, I have lived in TN all my life and those girls are just as annoying. I love the fact that they made us take a "tour around campus" for about an hour in the 100 degree heat. That was lovely.

At least I do have about an hour in between all my classes. Sleep time indeed.

of course not. i was actually referring to other tennessee girls that i met last year- specifically the ones who worked customs. i'm sure i would never use this board a forum through which to casually bash you- even though we are supposed to fight sometime...

Well, I'm glad that someone other than my girlfriend and Damon listened to Across the Pond. Thank you for listening, Digsy Slattery. I think Across the Pond may be from 4-6 pm every day this year, but I'm not sure. Wow, I'm still amazed that somebody listened.

Damon and I have pulled many nights where it's 4 am and I have to be up at 5:30 am so I'll just stay up for a day or two. Your sleep pattern will be so fucked up. I'm not even kidding. We would just live for the weekend. It was the only time that we could get any sleep.

I'll announce on the message board when our new time slot is as soon as I get the info. The anticipation mounts...... maybe not.

However, I will have my own show this year called "the modern world". It's a 60's mod/garage rock show. I'm very excited about it. I'll do it and Across the Pond.

I'm always up for hearing older music that I've never heard (it gives me stuff to look for on vinyl). I look to you now, Ray Davies. Guide me to the musical promised land.

I'm very excited about the show. I've been contemplating flyer ideas all summer, constantly drawing and looking up photos on the internet. The show is basically a continuation of my infatuatuation with all things mod.
My main goal on the show is to devote the entire 2 hour block one day to the features as soon as the album comes out. I hope to get the boys in the studio so I can perhaps do an interview and possibly get them to play an acoustic set. I can only wish, though.....
