...Fuck School!!!!

Over the past few semesters it seems to have become common place on this msgbrd for me to bitch about school and comment on how little sleep I'm getting, espicially during the last few wks of the semester.

So as not to break with tradition:
-hours of sleep to hours of awakedness (since Monday morning): 6 to 63
-next possible chance for sleep: Thursday 2 p.m est
-current state: chipper, alert and focused due to the wonderful world of prescription amphetemines and norepenephrine* reuptake inhibitors (though a tad guilty for using these five minutes with this post)

At least I have the hotpipes/dnd/green rode shows this weekend (although this is by defination work). I'm looking forward to ya'll that will be making the drive up to tha' eastside. This will be fun.

It'll be over soon enough, you can do it. Just think of my smiling, smoking face as the light at the end of this week's tunnel. There, that should make studying more appealing.

I've never been able to give up my sleep for school. If it comes to where i have to decide between my grades or sleep, sleep is always gonna win.

I'm gonna most likely fail accounting this semester anyways.... and part of me just doesn't give a damn. They always offer the class other semesters anyways. Fuck school. I'm sick of it! unsure.gif

Damn, you're sexy when you talk science!

More useless trivia: Norepinephrine (NE) is the American term for the European Noradrenaline (NA). And Epinephine = Adrenaline. I think this is because the term adrenaline is © or something. Everyone still uses the term "noradrenergic" when referring to NE, but I once saw the term norepinephinergic receptor used in a journal and it quickly became a favorite word of mine.

Yes, you should take a little break, Stalker. A little Features show always makes me feel better.

Oh, yeah...I fucking hate school too. Accounting is the worst subject ever...EVER. And to think that I have to take two more accounting classes let alone all the other boring entrepreneurship major classes...ugh...It just makes me cringe. I wish I wanted to be a teacher so I could just take all of the english classes I enjoy. mad.gif sad.gif

I have sadly learned that being a History major with an Education minor does not mean you can take whatever you want. It basically means that you get suckered into all these uselss classes. And they even decide you minor for you (well kinda). I must reiterate, I hate school.

Yeah, I seriously contemplated being an English major a while back just because I actually enjoy taking the classes and don't really have to try to do well...but I decided that probably the only thing I'd get out of it would be an English teaching degree. I hate school so much that once I get out...I'm out...no teaching for me.

Since lw is repeating himself from this time last year, I'll just re-post my thoughts on the subject.
"Quote from Tom Foolery on Apr. 23, 2002 at 10:44 PM"
When I was in college, I would say, 'This sucks; I can't wait to get out.'  (Yes, I really use semi-colons when I speak.)  All of the older, responsible people around me would say, 'Oh some day you'll long for the carefree days of college.  Enjoy it while it lasts.'

I'm here to tell everyone in school that the advice of the older, responsible people is TOTAL CRAP!  Being out of college rocks!!!  It's just like being in college... except you have lots of money and you never have to write papers. Also, there isn't a college.  Other than that, it's just like the undergrad days.  You get to play Nintendo all of the time, swim in the pool, meet hot chicks, and play on the Internet at ridiculously late hours.  Yes, you do have to have a 'job,' but if you're sneaky, it won't take any more time than a full load of classes takes.

So... to everyone suffering through school... hang in there.  It's TOTALLY worth it.
I'm very happy to say that I still believe this is true.

Work kinda sucks, but at least you make money.
At work today, I had a class on Microsoft Access. I even had to take a test afterwards. OH, THE FLASHBACKS! If I pass the class, I get a certificate.

And Sadie: I HATE HATE HATE Accounting also. My advice (even though it's probably too late): take it during the 3-week summer school session. That way, it only lasts 3 weeks instead of several agonizing months. It's the only class I made a "C" in.

Yeah, I'm planning on taking my second accounting class this summer and getting it out of the way quickly so that I don't have to put up with it during the fall for the whole semester. I've only made one B so far in my four semesters at MTSU, and this semester I'm struggling to get a B in my accounting class. I'll probably make a C. I hate it. I'm glad to see someone else hates it as much as I do, Smee.

Aside from the binge studying that I've been known to do (13 hours, causing me to miss the Apples in stereo concert) college is pretty easy/lame so far. The most stress that I ever get is right before a test (where I compulsively re-read notes and recite things I've memorized in my head over and over to the point of headache-dom) and when I have to register for classes (which I haven't even started yet). I hope the electronic media production classes that I have coming up are educational and not anuerysm inducing....

I am soooo sick of college in general the entire experience of it all!
I made a huge mistake on my choice of classes this semster and I'm pretty much screwed for next semseter! I thought I was gonna be able to apply for Candidacy but I'm not I'm missing 2 classes and I'm freaking, because I'm running out of stuff to take and the course is not offered in the summer time at the community college back at home! But it is offered here at MTSU, at 2 slightly different times during the day. Which leaves me with 2 problems 1. I would have to drive back an forth everyday for class. 2. I was supposed to work at least 40 weeks this summer to get cash. blink.gif sad.gif I'm soo sad right now... I'm just screwed.

Drawing from my college experience so far, I have gathered that most classes are a waste of time and easier than high school. BUT occasionally, I've ran into a class that has kicked my ass. Last semester I ended up with all As and one C in Honors Philosophy (huge mistake to take that class.) Unfortunately, I didn't have many choices in the classes I could take because I was a freshman and got to register last. Mostly, MTSU just screws you over with their scheduling..... mad.gif

Yup. Last semester I scheduled on the last day and this semester I'm scheduling on the next to last day. I'm not even going to bother with looking at classes until Sunday or so since most of them will get filled up.

At Evansville, they rotated the order in which we would register by both our credits and last name. I suppose it was fair, if you forget the fact that they instated this policy halfway through my tenure after I had spent the last two years registering last or second-to-last. I can only think of one case in which I didn't get a class I wanted, so I had to take an 8am instead of noon class. I still lived, though. Barely.

I dunno, Sexy Sadie. An English teaching degree isn't so bad. If you really like English (as I do - I got an English Education major), you'll get to take lots of fun courses on literature and such. Then, when you get out, you really will have job security. I teach high school (freshmen at that!) English, and it really can be fun sometimes. People are always talking about how teachers are underpaid, and we are, but you can do okay also. Starting out around the 30K range isn't that bad in today's market. I tried managing a restaurant for a while before actually teaching and I didn't make nearly as much. Consider it if you really hate those accounting classes! Just my 2 cents, of course (which are certainly worth little).

Thanks for the advice, Token...but, I've got my heart set on what I want to do, and it has nothing to do with English or teaching (I honestly could never be a teacher, I hate school way too much...more than words can say). I really should learn all of this accounting stuff if I want to start my own business like I plan on doing. I've already taken a whole semester of business-related classes, and I don't think I should go back to the drawing board at this point just so that I can take classes I enjoy. I figure if I've come this far I might as well endure the pain for two more years. Okay...now I'm getting stressed out. Time for me to stop typing... but, really, thanks for the input. smile.gif

As an aspiring screenwriter, I'm afraid I will never know the job stability of a teacher or even someone who starts their own business. Basically, I'm screwed and I'll probably end up working a 9 to 5 office job while working on my TV series in my spare time. And whenever I try to tell anyone about it, they just reply with "Oh ha ha, just keep crunching those numbers!" Then I get married at 32 and have sex (for the first time mind you, since I will have not had a previous girlfriend) producing triplets. How do I support triplets on my salary? I'll just keep telling myself that if I had just said "Screw college!" and went on to LA and forced myself to get a job, then little Noel, Chandler and Isabella would be able to get Christmas presents.

hmmm....i think you might be adding an umlaut, otherwise known as those two little dots over the e which can be seen in the christmas song, the first noel. noel as a boy's name doesn't have an umlaut.....its pronouced noel as in noel gallagher from oasis....
