I'll be there. I'm visiting a friend from high school for the weekend, so I'll be flying. I bought the tix presale, so they're pretty primo (5th row, dead center). Sorry to brag...

I saw Beck on the tonight show last night. he did a breathtaking version of "lost cause". it just made me want to see him live more than i ever did before, especially with the lips...

Were the Lips playing with him on the Tonight Show?

I must say my interest in Beck really started when I saw him really working a crowd on the old PBS show, "Sessions at West 54th"

So, did you make it teddyfred? I hope so, because it was awesome. I wasn't so hardcore-- I flew and stayed the whole weekend.

Did you see the guy that raised his hand and requested "Rowboat" during the short solo set? That was my buddy Todd. I was in the seat to his left.

i made it and fell into a 10 hour coma upon my return. hell i'd do it again tomorrow though, it was worth it. i didn't see your friend ask for rowboat, but i heard it. we were in the balcany.
my only complaint is i wish the lips had twisted becks songs to the point that they were unrecognizable
still though great show
now i just gotta track down a copy of it

From Yoshimi: Do You Realize?, Fight Test (hell yeah), and title track (pt 1)
From Bulletin: Race and Spoonful
From Zaireeka: 1 song (sorry, I don't know that one)
From Transmissions: Jelly
From some other album: 1 song

Yeah, I think it was 8 songs in only about 40 minutes. Quite dissapointing considering the last time I saw them (at 328 with Looper) and they played like 2 hours or something. Still, I thought they played a very accesible set picking very "radio-friendly" songs. Pretty much to be expected when about 90% of the crowd was only there to see Beck.

It was still full of the typical fanfare though: a dozen or so people in animal costumes on stage, strobe lights, eyeball beach balls, confetti, hand-held spotlights shown on the crowd, megaphones, sexy and nasty videos shown on the screen, etc.

The Lips were fairly subdued for Beck, but Wayne often waved his hands around and shouted either between songs or while Beck played solos (a lot of people didn't appreciate this). The highlight was when Beck used a keyboard to do an AWESOME robot voice and then climbed on top of an amp to do the robot dance while Wayne laid on his back center-stage and spotlighted him. SO COOL.

My Lips and Beck experience was amazing, the second concert (the first being the farewell concert the Pumpkins played at the UC) that I'll feel obligated to tell my kids "I was there..." only to have them reply that they don't give a shit. An amazing experience altogether.

I'm wondering though if everyone is getting as little midnite vultures as we did. All we got was get real paid, which was great but left me wanting more. Still, a remarkable experience.
