what was the lips set like? lots of new? old? mixture? good length? did they kick ass backing beck?
From Yoshimi: Do You Realize?, Fight Test (hell yeah), and title track (pt 1)
From Bulletin: Race and Spoonful
From Zaireeka: 1 song (sorry, I don't know that one)
From Transmissions: Jelly
From some other album: 1 song
Yeah, I think it was 8 songs in only about 40 minutes. Quite dissapointing considering the last time I saw them (at 328 with Looper) and they played like 2 hours or something. Still, I thought they played a very accesible set picking very "radio-friendly" songs. Pretty much to be expected when about 90% of the crowd was only there to see Beck.
It was still full of the typical fanfare though: a dozen or so people in animal costumes on stage, strobe lights, eyeball beach balls, confetti, hand-held spotlights shown on the crowd, megaphones, sexy and nasty videos shown on the screen, etc.
The Lips were fairly subdued for Beck, but Wayne often waved his hands around and shouted either between songs or while Beck played solos (a lot of people didn't appreciate this). The highlight was when Beck used a keyboard to do an AWESOME robot voice and then climbed on top of an amp to do the robot dance while Wayne laid on his back center-stage and spotlighted him. SO COOL.
