Well, Keith, I thought it was a grand idea. I'm curious.

My vote is for Radiohead. Simply amazing.

Radiohead should, and will win, but I went ahead and voted for Supergrass. No pretenses. Just awesome rock. Overall I am a bigger fan of Radiohead, but lately its been all about the Grass.

P.S. Has anyone been to www.britishbands.com before?
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

WOW, Keith, that's a FANTASTIC site! I can't believe I never saw this site before. Thanks for the tip!

I wouldn't be so sure about Radiohead winning. There seems to be a whole lotta Oasis freaks out there. Plus, I know Radiohead has lost a lot of favor with their fans due to their last two releases. I, myself, can't get enough.

By the way, I realize that Coldplay was not really active in the 90s, but I just decided to tack them on for good measure. huh.gif

There aren't THAT many big Oasis fans on here. They are just very vocal.

Whoah! Wait a minute, where are Kula Shaker and the Stone Roses??? It would be pretty hard for me to decide between those two, but since the Roses technically only put out one album during the nineties, I'm going to have to vote for Kula Shaker...

First of all, Keith great Idea, but putting Radiohead on that poll kinda takes the fun out of such a thing, but oh well. Second has no-one ever heard of an album called mobile home by a band called the Longpigs? not to mention the sun is often out? I mean come on. I would have a tough time maybe picking between Kula Shaker and the Longpigs, and it wouldnt be right to say the Auteurs, 'cause they are far from mainstream, but talk about a masterpiece... I think the first time i heard mobile home all the way through, i had to spend like 20 min. picking up my emotions from the floor and some might say im one of the most stoic, apathetic people alive (man, what a sentence.) and Oasis.......... man, i dont know where to start i can sorta listen to definately maybe. cool.gif But from what i understand the very loose definition of a "good band" to be, they arent it. Of course I like electronic music too, so my opinion probly doesnt mean shit (and you may all crucify me now).

Keith, you were stronger than myself. I wanted to vote for Coldplay, being what I'd assume is the board's biggest Coldplay fan, but Radiohead *is* my favorite band and I couldn't bear to see them lose to Oasis, which I feared as being a strong liklihood.

As for Coldplay not being active in the 90's, they were. Three releases before the year 2000, "Safety" in 1998, "Brothers and SIsters," and "The Blue Room" in 1999.

That is all,

Will
You may like grandma's yard gnomes, but I've seen Rock City. Remember it.

Marshall - why didn't you mention Gene? And by the way, who is Pulp? And who is Suede? I'll take Blur over Radiohead (or any of these bands) any day of the week.

Top 10 1990s Britpop bands:

01 Blur
02 Radiohead
03 Kula Shaker
04 Suede
05 Gene
06 Pulp
07 Oasis
08 Supergrass
09 Travis
10 the Auteurs
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Forgive me Damon. I was just (sarcastically) inquiring as to why two of Britpop's biggest names were left off the ballot.

Another band who should be on the list is Elastica. A greatly underappreciated Brit-pop band. I still love their first album. "Connection" is one of those classic songs that just wont get out of your head. It really disappointed me when I heard that they had broken up after the disappointing sales of their second album (which was only released a year ago!) if you havent heard them , do em a favor and pick up their self titled album, you will not be disappointed.

Technically, I think Ash is from Ireland. They do rule, though.
