Nostalgia runs rampant! I voted for The Replacements.

Though I never actually listened to REM in the 80s (nor do they define "80s music" for me), they've been my favorite band since 1990 (which is almost the 80s). So that's why they get my vote. When I think of the 80s, I think of Duran Duran.

For the Replacements fan(s): Old paul-paul westerberg is on the cover of this month's Magent.

If we're considering their entire careers, both U2 and R.E.M. would blow everyone else away. But since this is only the '80s we're talking about, I vote for Prince.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

another difficult topic. i voted for the smiths. bc they're my favorite on the list. but other than that, what are we basing this on? that's what makes it so difficult. bc depending on the criteria, my answer might have changed.
thank you for being a friend.

I must say that this is a topic I feel pretty passionate about. I love REM, the smiths, the cure, the replacemts, and almost everone nominated. The eighties were a great time for music if you look past Dokken and Poison.

Haha. Funny story about Dokken...

My Latin teacher in Asheville a few years ago was ALL ABOUT Dokken. She wore the shirts on Fridays, and she brought it to class to listen to during tests (if we weren't listening to Beethoven or Bach...haha). We even translated one song from English to Latin. I can't remember what the song was. Maybe I will e-mail her and ask if she is still into them. Apparently, while I was in that class, there was a tour or something that they were involved in. She was all pumped up about it, and we all thought it was the funniest thing. Just thought that I would share.
