Here's a very geeky discussion topic for us to enjoy on the internet.

TF and I just enjoyed a Family Guy Vol. 2 marathon within a week or two of Simpsons season 3....so now I'm left to grapple.

Discuss.

The Simpsons are king. I enjoy all of the others, too, except The Tick and Capital Critters (I've never seen those). What's up with leaving King of the Hill off the list? That's probably my second favorite, behind the Simpsons.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

I don't really like our options here, but I went with South Park. I used to watch The Simpsons a lot when I was little, but never do anymore. I still enjoy, but I just don't really watch it. I'd opt for South Park if it were up to any of these choices.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

CRAP! I knew I forgot one. I probably forgot it because I've only enjoyed it nominally. I never thought it was really funny.

My real favorite would be the X-Men cartoon from the early-to-late 90s. I voted for "The Tick" since it's the only one of those that I watch. I have enjoyed "Futurama" and "Family Guy" when I've caught them in the past. "South Park" is hilarious.

OOOH! Good call. I know for a fact that YaDaDaDa left that out only through senility or something because that is a secret favorite of his.

I have to admit I'm quite fond of Governor Kevin myself.

My real favorite would be the X-Men cartoon from the early-to-late 90s.
I was thinking more of the prime-time type, which is why I left off this and Teamo Supremo. The X-Men cartoon is pretty good. As a kid, I'd set my VCR for each episode, so I found I have the whole first season. I watched it a few weeks back...it wasn't quite as good as I remembered.

D'oh! I forgot The Critic as well...It deserves to be on there however.

After thinking about it, my vote goes to the Simpsons for the sheer number of hours of enjoyment it has provided. It was a sad feeling a few hours ago when I realized I was enjoying the last un-seen episode of Family Guy. It is probably funnier than the Simpsons, but there just isn't enough of it. So my vote goes to the Simpsons.

simpsons...no question. king of the hill would definitely be #2. i did love capital critters, so it may roll in third. i enjoy southpark, but have never watched it avidly. now that i think about it, i think i've only seen 3 or 4 episodes.

also, not enough of you are making fun of digsy for not liking the simpsons.

The Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume 1 DVD "drops" November 18.

This has nothing to do with cartoons, but on the subject of upcoming DVDs, the Ben Stiller Show DVD comes out on Dec. 2. Every episode that aired, one that didn't, commentaries, extra sketches, etc. Can't wait.

i dont think doug was on snick. i liked roundhouse, and clarissa [a part of an episode is on constant rewind in my head, like a song, and has been for years], and kind of liked are you afraid of the dark, sometimes. i also (gasp) liked all that. "french lessons with pierre" killed me. now that mother fucker keenan is on snl! and hes doing the same damn bill cosby impression that he did back in the day...

however, although not a member of snick, pete and pete REMAINS the best show ever on nickelodeon and holds up today [i smell a poll].

Was the episode too liberal for Fox? Hah.

And what about Beavis and Butthead? Freudian humor at its best and you had to love their music reviews. Albums actually sold better at the time if Beavis and Butthead gave them a favorable rating (and sometimes if they got trashed by the show in a few instances).

For some reason, I remember watching an episode of Doug on Halloween night one Friday or Saturday in my youth, but it may have just been a special thing. I think I have since associated it with snick. So, you're probably right. I liked Double Dare, Finders Keepers, and, hell, I even liked Rugrats. Legends of the Hidden Temple ruled, but Nick Arcade always annoyed me, even though I watched it religiously. I liked GUTS, but I couldn't stand the announcers voice, so I never watched it. I forget her name, but I expect someone to come forward with it. Mo? I loved Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts. I watched them whenever they were on, regardless of how many times I had seen the episode.

This reminds me, I want to see an episode of Charles In Charge, damn it. Where are the reruns? I also want to see the 80's show with Sandy Duncan and the guy from Teen Wolf 2. I even want to see My Two Dads and the show with the girl whose dad lived in the crystal ball.

factoids:

--sandy duncan has a glass eye. didn't she do wheat thins commericals?
--the girl from my two dads attended the same school as me (before she did that show). and my one dad played drums on that theme song.

i loved all the classics as well. salute your shorts, hey dude, clarissa (but not as much), are you afraid? (some of those really were scary), all that (tlc theme song!), etc. and i did enjoy ren and stimpy, even though i thought it was gross (i.e. the hairball manufacturing episode). doug was good (i always get the song he sang videotaped about patty stuck in my head), but not as good as rocko's modern life. or ah! real monsters. i hated guts but still watched it. you can't do that on television was also the shit.
oh god I used to watch all of those my top three Rocko's Modern Life, All that, and are U afraid?!

I loved Rocko; but I always hated it when All That would come on, because I couldn't stand most of that show and my sister loved it. Are You Afraid of The Dark? was good, but I rarely watched it.

I think my favorite episode of Salute Your Shorts was the Halloween episode with Zeke the Plumber. I loved special seasonal episodes of my favorite shows.

i was reminiscing about all these shows with my friends the other day.

did anyone else make forts with couch cushions to play Global Guts and Legends of the Hidden Temple?

oh, and yeah, RD, her name was mo. i didnt hate her voice when i used to watch it, but i saw it recently and had to turn it.

may the cartoon Doug be forever ruined for you all.
That was pretty funny, but I don't think it tainted my perception of Doug. Still entertaining, though.
yes, i found it quite humourous, and actually quite a good characterization of Judy.

I think my favorite episode of Salute Your Shorts was the Halloween episode with Zeke the Plumber.  I loved special seasonal episodes of my favorite shows.
mine was the one when sponge was on the radio contest (a giraffes tongue is black).
or the one when buttnick had a crush on dina and wrote a poem about her mole.
or the first one when pinskey arrived with the salami. (i had to change "came" with "arrived" for carl)
or the one when they made ug look like he had chicken pox.
or the legend of sarah madre when they had to do the dance moves to find the buried treasure.

i hated legends of the hidden temple and guts (especially global). if we want to talk game shows, lets talk double dare.

the worst show ever on nickelodeon (nick jr.): eurekas castle.

david the gnome was the best cartoon after doug and ren & stimpy. i tolerated rocko.

i also hated "the big help," even though the theme song was good. it took over an entire weekend of perfectly good programming. i remember when "wet, wild, and crazy kids" was taken over by "the big help" and they had to like, shovel trash and stuff... that was the worst. you could so tell that omar was not feeling it.

I love you.

As far as your favorite episodes of Salute Your Shorts, thank you for reminding me of those. Pinskey's first episode was definitely in my top 5.

Anyone remember Nickelodeon's "Finders Keepers"? Or better yet, the show that used a rebuilt Finder's Keepers set, "Legend of the Hidden Temple"? And what was that show where kids played video games?

Will
You may like grandma's yard gnomes, but I've seen Rock City. Remember it.

I avoided bringing it up, only because I didn't want to sound cliche, but since you mentioned it... I watched that show a lot.
