TOPIC: BIG Back to School show!!
Posted  Sunday, August 17, 2003 at 7:13 PM
Post 1 of 40
on Saturday, August 23rd at the Red Rose in Murfreesboro, there will be a big show celebrating the first weekend that everyone will be back in town for school.

Co-headlining are Glossary and Imaginary Baseball League... opening are Celebrity (from Nashville), and Come Down (a great band from New York City who are amazing people and who spent a day without power last week, so come energize them ......www.come-down.net). I have checked the schedules, the parties, the barmitzvahs (did I spell that right), and even the religious cult sacrifices, and there is nothing going on that night that will be more fun in the quad-state area.

come one and all!

So this answers my question about which band you are a part.

I don't know, YDDD, I think that just narrows it down to three.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Man, MTSU students have a pretty good weekend of music coming up! I hear Sam Ashworth and De Novo Dahl are playing everyone's favorite "18 and Up" venue in Murfreesboro on friday.

I wonder if one of our favorite bass players/mb posters will be a part of this?

Sam is playing the Boro show by himself, I think. But things have changed at the last second before, so who knows.

Sam Ashworth + band are playing Saturday night at the Mercy Lounge.

busted. not that I was actively hiding it... I assumed someone would ask and I wasn't prepared to lie. i am in imaginary baseball league. i wouldn't normally come on here to advertise our shows, but the last 2 have seemed worthy of mentioning. i know the features msg board is reasonably kind to us, so I figured it a nice place to alert people of our show. I actually plan to refrain from it in the future, however the one this saturday will be one for the ages. I certainly wish the Features were playing it as well. but since they are not, and I am sure that you all would like something fun to do on a saturday night for the low price of only $5.

Well, all this publicity definitely worked. It got me to come to the Exit\In, and I'll probably come to this one, too, so I can be unreasonably kind to your fabulously captivating drummer, if you know what I mean. Now YOU know what you can do on Friday. (The Boro)

see, what a nice trade-off it is. this place is more informative about shows and local music gossip than the Rage, the Scene, and any website devoted to shows in the area. I come here for all things.

I'll try to make the Boro, but I doubt I'll do Red Rose.

I also don't know how to take "reasonably kind."

I'm getting more excited about seeing DND again (I still haven't seen a full set), and so Friday is more of a possibility.

Reasonably kind is like saying "sort-of" nice. The mb (as a whole) is sort-of nice to them since most of us like them. But, we are not considered completely kind, because you once said that you would like to sleep during IBL's set. I hope that I helped clear that up.

I guess I said "reasonably kind" because I have read more favorable than unfavorable posts on here about us. I was actually really surprised that so many features fans enjoyed imaginary baseball league, since we are so different. Plus, I think the Features are great, so if people who like them like us, then I guess we are doing something right. The itinerary for tomorrow is as follows: Celebrity plays first, then Come Down (who are sort of a trippy british influenced band from NYC), then Glossary will play an acoustic set inside the Rose, and then we will close out on the patio. I am completely pumped. We're going to smash our instruments and spit and flip people off.

I didn't know in which thread I should say that DND rocked last night. I will only say two things about it--

1. Not since Self have I heard a mid-TN band who has such a big band sound in small venues.

2. Theirs is the most polished show of any performing band I've seen on the local scene ever.

So, I really enjoyed the show last night. I was sorry that I had to leave a little early. Maybe someday I will finally see a full De Novo Dahl set...

We had been going strong since before 5a, so we left due to sleepiness. I also have yet to see a full DND set.

It's a shame that neither Y3D and IWE haven't seen the close of a set when DND typically plays "Be Your Man", their equivilent to "Thursday". That songs kicks so much ass. For the record, it sounds nothing like "Thursday".

It was a very good show, carl......

I didnt care for Celebrity, and I didnt watch Glossary.

Imaginary Baseball League, however, put on a breathtaking show. "Patternize" was especially good last night.......Cant wait for the full length to come out (someday)

I, too, feel rather ashamed never to have made it through a full set. On all 3 occasions it was due to factors completely separate from the music. I love what I have heard live from DND, listen to their EP all the time, and thought they were great on Friday night. I am really, really looking forward to a show I can go to on Saturday night where I am not running on no sleep. On that glorious occasion, I will look forward to rocking out to "Be Your Man."

I hope it's soon!

yes, i must agree that this show was fantastic. my favorite show to date. i love this band so much that i even had a dream about them last night. i made my way over to the ibl merch table to buy something besides cardiact (which is, unfortunately, all i have), but nothing else was there. on instinct, however, i began to sift through the huge stack of cardiact ep's. in the middle of the stack i found a super secret cd with 14 tracks and a handwritten listing on the sleeve. i bought it for only $7. they said "man, i dont know how that got in there, but since you found it we'll let you keep it." what a wonderful dream. what a wonderful band.

isn't there another ep i can buy? if not...soon, downloads, soon.
