I was wondering if there would ever be another blur album, with Damon's success with Gorillaz and all.

i never really liked blur..they always bothered me..even before song 2 was a hit...just never did anything for me..they were always getting lumped together with these under appreciated bands that were being buried by Oasis at the time. i dont like oasis either...but blur just bothers me...
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

blur's sacred to me. they were a great alternative to smashing pumpkins, stone temple pilots, silverchair, etc.
i hated the stuff my friends listened to in high school. i ended up liking a lot of british bands(suede, pulp, supergrass, the divine comedy...)as a result. they tried to turn me on to bush by telling me they were british. the u.k. had a much better scene during 90's. the majority of popular american music was just watered down angst-rock. now it's all crap.

Blur=nothing less than the best band since the Beatles. I'm relieved to hear that there'll be a new album.

I'm very curious as to how the new album will sound. Will it be an extension of some of the traits inherent in 13? Or, will blur make another attempt to climb American pop charts, like song two? It may be cool to hear a little gorillaz influence on some tracks, if there is any.

Allright, River listeners, this is brand new from a group called Blur. It's the remix of their new single, '__________', featuring 'Ol Dirty Bastard and Gwen Stefani.

best band since the beatles?? give me a break..nothing compares to the beatles plus..there are many other bands that have surpassed what blur has done. blur wasn't doing anything new in my opinion. best since the beatles? how can you say that with a straight face? thats blasphamy....

i wouldn't say that blur is the best thing since the beatles, but i will admit that they did make 3 of the best albums of the 90's. 'Parklife' is one of the best british albums of all-time. 'The Great Escape' is a damn good album as well. 'Blur' is a really good indie rock album, even if it is a little forced on some tracks. Blur is one of the best bands to come out of england in the last decade.

Ghostflower, it's just a personal opinion. Who, in your opinion, is the best band since the Beatles?

song 2's popularity was a complete fluke. the 'orange' album doesn't sound forced either. it was a big departure from 'the great escape', but 'parklife' was hardly a repeat of 'modern life..'. there are very few bands that can flirt with that many styles successfully.

the orange album doesnt sound forced? come on, 'essex dogs'? i'm not saying it's a bad album. it's my favorite blur album. 'parklife' is a more cohesive album than 'modern life is rubbish', though 'chemical world' is an excellent song.

i must say, i do like blur quite a bit. if any of you haven't really listened to them much, i'd recommend getting The Best of Blur at the least. They are worth taking your time to check out. I'd have to say that my favorite blur song is either End of a Century of Look Inside America...
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

i don't think it's forced. i'm assuming your talking about the artier songs on there(essex dogs, theme from retro).
'13' has as many weird songs. blur seems to thrive on changing their sound. 'essex dogs' kicks ass. a lot of the b-sides to that album are very similar.

I don't think that the self-titled album was forced or contrived at all.  I was so obsessed about Blur at the time that album came out that I read damn near every interview that they did, and from what I can gather, the self-titled album was just the band spitting in the face of all of the catchy, cartoonish music that they had done on the last two albums.  How far away from 'Country House' and 'Top Man' can you get?  Just listen to 'Essex Dogs'.

My favorite Blur songs:
Inertia, There's No Other Way, For Tomorrow, Chemical World, Oily Water, Villa Rosie, Young and Lovely, To the End, Clover Over Dover, Magic America, Stereotypes, Fade Away, Entertain Me, Peter Panic, Tame, Beetlebum, Death of a Party, All Your Life, Trimm Trabb, No Distance..., All We Want.

Jamiecarroll............

10 years ago i could have probably given you answer to the question 'who is the best band sine the beatles' but now i can't because in my opinion nobody has come close to contributing what the beatles gave us in terms of music and in terms of way of life. the beatles changed rock music forever and were pretty much the original EVERYTHING. there hasnt been a band AS GOOD since and probably won't be for a very long time. someone has to be able to change the way we feel and think and even change music itself to even be considered in the same ballpark.
saying blur is that really bothers me....they've done nothing to the magnitude of the beatles....revolver, abbey road, sgt pepper, rubber soul....doesnt get any better that.
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

Hey, don't think that I'm 'putting Blur on the same level' as the Beatles. The key word in what I said was SINCE. Personally, I agree with you - no one has equalled the Beatles. I'm just saying, since then, this is my favorite band. Call it second place if you will.

some(not me)could put up a reasonable argument that the stones are better than the beatles. there have been times where i'd have said the kinks are better than the beatles.
