Okay, I really want to know more about this band that will be touring with the features. I can't imagine them not being great if the features are willingly touring with them. Right? I visited their page and they have no mp3s that I could find. I went to Rykodisc's page and had to enter a bunch of personal info so I can get spammed just for wanting to get a taste for this group. Then, I got an error message that it was a dead link or something AFTER giving them my info. I just think it's a really bad idea for a band not to make at least CLIPS of their songs available. Consequently, they say a "jukebox" is coming soon to their site. We'll see.

Anywho, do you guys think the band would mind if someone uploaded a song or two of theirs on the free features mp3 site (hosted by keith from lexington)? Personally, I think it could only help them. I, for one, would be willing to buy a disc in preparation for the show if I thought I might dig their music.

The BoF site has promised mp3's for about a year now. I heard through the grapevine that rykodisc dropped the band (or they quit) after their latest album "the swimming hour" kinda like how the features did away with spongebath, so that site is pretty useless also.

I managed to upload 3 Bowl of Fire songs onto the Features mp3 site. I didn't ask anyone...I hope it's ok. A little bit about the songs...

The first one, Eugene is from the group's first album, when Andrew was in his jazz stage. His style was really melancholy and dark then (it still is now, but in a different way). Eugene has been known as his show opener for as long as I can remember, and it's one of the only songs he still plays from his past albums.

Second is How Indiscreet, which is a fun tune. It sorta gives an idea of Kevin O'Donnell's drumming (he's amazing). A real party song with some soul thrown in. I like the little "jam session" they do at the end.

Third is Two Way Action, which could, I guess, be considered their "hit" as it's the only one that seems to get any radio play (that I know of). It's the opening song on The Swimming Hour and it's pretty well put together, if you ask me. This song is a lot of fun live because during the break in the middle, he strums his violin and really rocks out. Great song.

Whoever's in charge of the mp3 site can delete these when he wants to, but I hope everyone gets a chance to check out the Bowl of Fire whether you're going to any shows this month or not.

Hope I haven't beat this into the ground already. I'll shut up now.

If anyone else is still interested, there's an entire live Bowl of Fire performance on the digital club network ( www.dcn.com ). Check it out if you've got an hour to kill. It's not the best show...they have some technical difficulties and once or twice he forgets the words, but it's a good representation of their energy at a live show. I think you have to be a member of dcn.com, but it doesn't cost anything and you just have to make up a name and password.
