Yes, they are playing w/o Willy T. In fact, they are playing tomorrow night at the same time as The Features at the Red Rose. If you don't want to deal with the huge Features crowd, check it out as I am sure it will be wild.

They already did a few shows without him while he was on the 'North American leg' of the Lambchop tour. No fill in guitar player, just Dave, as far as I know.

I'm pretty sure Ryan Norris is still with the Character.

I hope so, Blightman. I'm going to swing by the Red Rose and see what time Character will be playing. If possible, I will see Character there, then go over to the Boro for the Features. The Features usually don't play till late at the Boro, so maybe this will be possible.

I'm not sure if Ryan North has time for Charcter any more. He's very busy with his Brian Wilson-esque side project.

Is it North and not Norris? If so I've been mistaken for over a year.

From the Nashville Scene's critics' picks for this week:

Sunday, 7th

Vaudeville in the Village
Uncle Miltie may be gone, but vaudeville isn't, thanks to this cool new monthly series at the Belcourt. Designed to draw revelers to Hillsboro Village on slow Sunday nights, this showcase of bands, actors, acrobats and other artists reproduces the variety shows of yore, only with no Ruth Buzzi. The host for the first show is Joe Pisapia from Joe, Marc's Brother, who offers a peek at his upcoming solo debut. The Features and My Tyger, the Brian Wilson-esque side project of Character's Ryan North, will play short sets, and juggler Scott Nery and conceptual comic Matt Sterling will brave the hook between musical acts. DJ Mindub serves as house band. Tickets are $8; show time is 8 p.m. sharp.

I'm kinda anti-scene - I like the rage much better - however there was a good article in the scene a few weeks ago about the old meat packing plant

Backing up a little bit--

a name I hear all over the place is Lambchop. Someone please tell me about this group. I thought I'd heard Sam Baker (drummer for Fl Oz, wrote 'Hey Lou') played with a jazz group and I think it was Lambchop. Am I correct?

Sam Baker does indeed play in Lambchop.  He is one of the drummers.  I wouldn't exactly call Lambchop a jazz group, though.  Maybe he is also in something else that would be the jazz group.  Lambchop is...not really jazz, but not anything like the Ounces.  Help me out - what is Lambchop (besides fucking amazing)?

YDDD - you should buy Lambchop's 'Nixon'.

lambchop is emocountrypopsoul............on drugs.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

Every album is different. I would definitely start with Nixon which I would describe as sort of psychedelic R&B. All labels aside, it is one of my favorite albums ever.

'keith' just snuck up on us and became a member.

i must disagree though, forgive my humble opinion. i think to do lambchop justice, one must start earlier than nixon. i'd go with how i quit smoking or thriller. as i believe jamie said, it takes a bold band to name an album thriller.
