TOPIC: Deftones S/T

I'm assuming that because they obviously share most of the same influences as the Features, that there's a bunch of Deftones fans who post here. So, I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the new self-titled album.

Personally, I don't think it pushes the boundaries of White Pony. I've always considered the band to be ever-evolving, but they seem to be sticking to somwhat of a formula on this one. While I do enjoy the album a lot, I doubt it will stack up to their previous release. It's definitely not too groundbreaking. I'll have to listen more before making a firm judgement.

I also think it's funny that their new single contains the lyric "God bless you" when a majority of their target audience is probably atheist.

With that said, we can start with the "Deftones SUCK!" posts...

I like White Pony. I think it was a wonderful album. I haven't heard the S/T, but if it sounds like White Pony I'll probably enjoy it, but not think anything special of it.

Deftones SUCK!
Is it really necessary to shit on someone else's musical tastes just because they don't make sense to you? That's fucked up - unless you're speaking sarcastically, of course.

That said, the last record I bought was Gordon Lightfoot's "Sundown." There you have it.
"Sugar, Mr. Poon?"
"No, never, never... thank you."

Gordon Lightfoot SUCKS!

By the way, your post was appreciated-- even though I did (literally) ask for it. Too many people lump bands like Deftones and Tool in with all the other jock-rock/nu-metal crap. What they don't understand is the creative genius and genuine emotion these bands have to offer.
