I have dreams all the time now. For a while, I wasn't dreaming anything, at least I wasn't remembering those dreams. I was wondering what some of your dreams have been like....weird, funny, scary? I'm getting into this study that looks into dream analysis, and it's pretty neat.

The dream I can think of right off of the top of my head is one that is recurring and happens before Features shows. Generally, I am at the venue (even if I have never been there before, my mind makes up a place different from the ones I have been to), and I meet up with people. There is always a person I haven't met yet who comes up to me and starts talking. Then, something really weird happens. One time, it was an earthquake. Another time, it was this huge fight that broke out between two girls in the front, and then people just started jumping in.

OK, there is one of mine. Share some of yours.

It's funny you ask, because I had a really weird (dirty) one last night. I accepted an invitation to take place in a filmed sex orgy at the house of a superior (a teacher or boss or something) of mine. My superior had no knowledge of the event until the tape started circulating. His class (which makes the teacher thing likely) threw him a party as sort of an embarrassing joke. For some reason, he was the one that was humiliated when I was the one bearing it all in a public forum. The last thing I remember was checking out the spread... of food and refreshments at the party.

Do your dreams ever invole pyrotechnics? Because I just read a news story that a fire erupted in a Rhode Island club during a Great White show (from their pyrotechnics) and 86 people died. Good thing Rollum only did that fire-blowing thing only once.

I heard Great White gave a scorching performance as always.

apparently their guitarist died in the fire.....or i should say that he is one of the "missing"....

i always have really weird dreams that i don't understand. some examples of very recent ones:

#1: i'm at a summer camp with jack white and he is my nature scavenger hunt partner.

#2: i'm in the parking lot of my high school standing with a group of people, and roger (of features fame) drives up in a very expensive black car, gets out, kind of scratches his head, then drives away.

#3: i have an abortion in this really silvery, sterile environment. but i'm not really concerned with the abortion. i'm more super excited about the really fun slide that every girl gets to go down once the procedure is done. then i slid down it. and it was fun. very fun.

pretty random and weird, huh? maybe i should seek some help.

Oooooooooooooh. And so flies forth the first of what I'm sure will be many many off color jokes about this incident.

For a while in my life, I kept a dream journal (thanks, Sam Smith, for the idea). I just kept a notebook by my bed, and right when I would wake up from a dream, I would write it down. It's crazy to read back through it. Dreams are so weird. Lately, I've been dreaming a lot about my workplace.

The other night I dreamed I got sued for touching the nose of a child I was babysitting.

I also have a recurring dream in which I'm back in Nashville, partying at Idaho and having a good time, when around 9:45 I turn to look for Neuboy only to find him dead in his bed with his arms crossed, boots on, and clavichord samples looping loudly on the computer. It's horrifying.

Damn. That does sound horrifying. Especially the part about the clavichord samples.

I think I meant to write "passed out" instead of "dead," but then it wouldn't be a dream.

My most common dreams:

1. Scary men dressed in black coming to my house to kill/kidnap/rob me and my family.

2. Having a newborn litter of kittens (usually about 16 or so). I always make some kind of little house for them out of a box, leave to do something else, come back and they've all wandered off, and I can't find them all. I go all around the house and yard looking for them, but can't fit them all into my arms at one time. (one of the most common)

3. I always have variations of this one dream. In each one a different one of my animals that died in the past comes back to my house, like they had just run away and decided to come home or something. (one of my most common)

A pleasant dream is a rare occurrence for me. I usually have only nightmares. Then, of course, there are those which are just too crazy to even explain to other people.

i have really relevant dreams. if i like a guy, he'll be in my dream. i see furniture that i like and i'll dream about buying it. when Olive got her first tooth, i dreamed she bit me.
lastnight, i dreamed i was at ted's (though it was a different building) and some guy came in the back with a bomb that was activated by donuts. (i'm on the dr. atkins diet so i can't eat donuts) i jetted out the back door and everyone was still inside. the bomb went off but it wasn't that big, but it caused something to catch on fire and burned the building down.
my friend mary frances woke me up today and told me about the rhode island thing. that was weird.

This isn't my dream, this was the dream my mom had last night. She dreamt that she was at a concert, and someone asked her had she seen this band play before, and she said yeah, It's Third Eye Blind I've seen them play... and she said she was just at the concert dancing and screaming at them like she loved them.. This may not seem too strange to you, but my mama's Favorite artists/ type of music is R.Kelly/ R&B. She woke up this morning and asked me was there even a band named third eye blind and I told her yeah there was, but the suck! I told her The reason she dreamed about it, was becasue she probably heard their name on TV while she was sleeping, she had it on VH1....

if you didn't already know this, dream-talking is one one of my very favorite pasttimes. i find them endlessly fascinating. but, lately I have been having awful nightmares. most of them pertain to the war at hand, things blowing up, the world ending in nuclear war, concentration camps, scary up to date shit like that.

my most common dream is that i am driving on a bridge or a road and the road ends, and my car just falls into the water. i have this dream at least once a week.

the other night i had a dream that someone broke into my house and filled my refrigerator wqith meat (im a vegetarian) tuns out, my old piano teacher was homeless and needed a quick stashing place for her meat so she broke into my place to keep it cold becasue it wouldn't stay cold in her box.

oh, and last night i had this dream that i met this reeeeeeeeeeally cute girl and we were flirting and i was trying to convince her to have sex with me. that was cool.

I had this dream last night that I forgot to talk about. It just sort of came to me.
OK. I have this friend...Josh...who hates another friend of mine...Jon. (I like J's.) Well, my roommate Jenny, Josh, and I were sitting on the couch watching a movie or something, and there is this knock at the door. So, I get up, and Jenny asks who it is. I get to the door, and I look out the peephole...It's Jon. So, (knowing that Jon would destroy Josh, or at least attempt to, upon seeing him) I open the door and try to keep Jon in the hallway. Well, my bedroom is right off of the entrance hallway, so I try to push him in there to keep Josh from seeing him and vice versa. That's all I really remember aside from Josh asking who it is and me yelling back, "No one important." Then, Jon gets all pissed at me for saying that AND he heard Josh, so he runs into the living room. Then, I woke up.
There always some form of hostility, violence, or sexual content in my dreams. It never fails.

I used to fall asleep while the TV was still on. It always made for some vivid and crazy dreams.

i've had 4 concussions (which may explain what's wrong with me.) and with every one of them i've had a similar dream. i'm like 7 years old and i'm with my mom (back when she was cool) and we're driving up a mountain or something and we go off a cliff and the car is spinning and we're screaming and right before we hit the ground i wake up. and i'm in the hospital or an ambulance and i think that i just fell off a cliff and survived.

This topic inspired me to open a journal from 4 years ago. Alas, I found some interesting dreams recorded:

1. After reading Slaughter-House Five, I had this dream that the "common people's army" had gathered in a stadium and were excitedly preparing for battle. All the armed males sat at the front, while the unarmed (and ecstatic) females sat cheering behind, waiting for the attack to begin. This made no sense when I dreamt it, but a week or so later I watched the movie Michael Collins and discovered an eerie similarity between my dream and a scene in the movie. Irish fans are assembled in a stadium to watch a football match, but instead of footballers, British tanks roll onto the field and slaughter everyone in the crowd.

2. Around that same time I had a very strange dream that was set in a subway located below an airport. The subway looked just like the interior of a grand cathedral, and I was sitting by a pool that was conveniently located near the place you waited for the train. (Just like in all cathedralesque subway stations!) All of a sudden, a man rushed up to me and handed me a tin box that had been express delivered. Inside the tin box was a ticking clock and a copy of James Joyce's Ulysses. I had never read the book before, but I had just learned in a literature course that it was set all in one day (hence the clock?). Anyway, I remember reading some of the book in my dream and enjoying it.

Wow, I can't believe I just posted that much. Sorry to bore!

I thought people read Joyce because it was "great literature", not because they enjoyed it. I didn't realize anyone actually liked it. Wait, I get it. "I enjoyed Joyce" "Yeah in your dreams"

Exactly. I never actually read Ulysses. I did, however enjoy A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Dubliners (during waking hours).

i had this dream once that there was this really cute white kitten in my house and everytime i would try to pick it up it would turn into this huge disguting orange spider. then i would try to kill the spider but it would turn back into the cat. so, i had to kill the kitten in order to kill the scary spider.

sounds like a metaphor for a roller coaster relationship to me.

in my dream last night this guy convinced me to shoot up vikaden (which is something i would never ever do in real life btw) and then we went to a turkey feast at my school's cafeteria. he got thrown out and i got into a fight with this big scary football guy. i won. it was a battle of wits. and then i was at a slumber party and this girl was trying to win her man back and he was australian so she kept saying things in a stupid ass accent like, "now ve vill make luff" and then my friend katie caught me making out with my ex bf neil and got mad at me bc making out at her party was not allowed. thats all folks.

You sure he wasn't Transylvanian?

I confirmed this with Brett Favre as well... it's Vicadon. Which, BTW, he says is better than shooting heroine, because if you shoot a heroine, she becomes a tragic figure.

actually its both... I just looked it up in the little black book. Vicodin and Vicadon are both commercial names from different drug companies. It is hydracodone-acetaminophen... essentially a synthetic opiate and tylenol... so you might ask Matthew next time you see him which one he was taking.

but I was watching something on tv tonight, and it said that if you know you're having a dream while you're dreaming... you can actually consciously control what happens in your dream. They called it Lucid Dreaming..

I'm very intrigued by this, and I wondered if any of you have had such an experience?

i've always been able to make conscious decisions in my dreams but the second i realise it's a dream, i wake up. once, i had a dream about getting this new video game system and all of the launch games. right when i was about to play it i woke up. that really ticked me off. i still wonder what the games would have been like. i've read a bit about lucid dreaming. there are, supposedly, steps you can take to do it whenever you want. i like the randomness though.

ah, good ol' lucid dreaming... i've never had a lucid dream, though i would love to. the closest i've came is probably those situations where you wake up from a really good/vivid dream, then try to go back to sleep and pick up where you left off. when i do that i guess i am somewhat controlling what i do in the dream for a few seconds at least, but that's as far as it goes. i'm not cool enough to lucid dream. i'll stick to my dorky regular dreams. (last night i had a dream that combined personalities from the messageboard and people from the governor's school i attended. see...dorky.)

and a fascinating question that has been coming up in conversation alot lately... i wondered how some of you would answer:
when you dream, do you see things from your point of view like in real life or are you outside yourself observing your own actions?
i am always outside myself.

speaking of vicodin, i got some for my dental work. i have no idea why a person would want to take that stuff frequently. it made me feel really stoned and then i conked out. smee remembers more about it than me. i can't really remember the details. supposedly i saw whole corriander at harris teeter, but i don't remember that(i've been looking for whole corriander for a while).

I didn't really like "waking life". i thought the graphics were great, but the dialogue was garbage.

i have only had one lucid dream. i realized it was a dream (during the ol' drive off a bridge dream) and i got out of my car and made this friend who i hadn't seen in a while appear and we hugged. it was pretty cool.

another time last week i dreamed my mom died and i just banged my head into the wall screaming "wake up laura!!! wake up laura!!" and i woke up. my mom is fine. but the dream still haunts me.

i love waking life; i don't think the dialogue is garbage.

and ive never been to governer's school, but one of my friends from nashville went. her name is greta and she is in spain.

may i also add that i had a dream about a month ago that i was in a room with some guy and we were watching a movie and in the movie the guy said, "but what I really want to do is direct" and I was like "THAT'S where that's from!" and i tried explaining about signatures and the MB. when i woke up i really disappointed that i still have no idea what wiyum's signature is from.

I meant to tell everyone about a dream I had a few nights ago... I don't remember the details except that at one point I was attacked by someone that I recognized from this messageboard (not a real person, mind you. someone I'd never seen before, but someone that I recognized on sight as being from the board). The guy had covered his hands with the hard side of velcro and started attacking me with it, causing thousands of tiny, imperceptible breaks in my skin with the velcro. But he'd spread poison all over the velcro, so I died.

On Drugs: When I got dry sockets after having my wisdom teeth removed, I had to be put on pain killers for a couple days (very....nice actually....hmm). I then started taking tylenols by the handful every hour because the pain was that bad. Then when they found out I had dry sockets, they said that the only thing I shouldn't take was tylenol. Oops.

On Dreams: I had a dream a while back that the Features were playing in a jungle/mall and I was trying to convince a Taco Bell worker to come see them, but all he did was curse at me. Then I went and watched the show. Last nite, Ray Davies, IWantElvis and I were at Great Escape (except this was a warehouse version of Great Escape with a Home Depot attached) shopping for clothes. I found Bill Daly's autograph for $10 and bought it. And then my parents showed up....odd again.

On Dream POV: I have always dreamed from my own perspective. I cannot comprehend anything else...I guess it's because I'm self-centered?

Mine almost ALWAYS consist of a combination of the two. Usually I'm watching and then I'm participating.

I'm pretty good at the lucid dreaming stuff. I guess I'm just too clever for my own brain or something to be tricked into thinking my dreams are real. When it happens, my dreams almost always take on a sexual nature. Yeah, I'm diRRty.

Yeah...I wanted to see Waking Life very badly when it was released, but I never got the chance to do so. I did see it when it came out on video. I was really looking forward to it. . . I fell asleep two times (that I remember, maybe more) during the movie. And, it takes a lot to make me fall asleep during a movie. I hated it.

And getting back to the topic at hand... I had a lucid dream several months ago, but I don't remember much about it. It was more than likely a nightmare, like most of my dreams, and I was freaking out because something dreadful was happening to me. So, I said to myself, "hey, this is that stupid dream I have all the time. I just need to wake up and not freak out about this junk". Then, I woke up. Yeah, not a very exciting lucid dream.

When I was a kid I used to dream that I was riding in the car with my parents and I was strapped into to one of those kiddie car seats because I was just a little guy. We would just be driving along, me in the back, them in the front. Then, all of a sudden my parents would count down in unison "ONE! TWO! THREE!" On "THREE!" they would both jump out of the car leaving me all by myself. The car would just keep on going with me in it, unable to get out of my seat no matter how hard I tried. Those were probably the scariest dreams I've ever had.

Oh my gosh, that sounds terrifying. And I must say, I just wimpered (maybe because of the terror issue, maybe because I pictured you as a little tyke looking all helpless and whatnot).

It sounds similar to my dream where I'm with my parents and they leave the car and I can't stop it from rolling up and down the hilly roads. But, I'm not at the car/booster seat age. I'm more in the 6-10 year range.

As in: "So what is your job here?" "Oh, I'm the make-up artist, but what I really want to do is direct."

Its a common thing on a film set to hear someone say "yeah, today I'm 2nd Assistant Camera, but what I really wanna do is direct." Hell, I've said it. Though tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday I'm Director of Photography, and I've got a hydraulic dolly with 70 feet of track and I couldn't be happier, so I won't be saying it.

Last night I had my first message board related dream. Here's how it went:

I was at the West End Taco Bell late at night with my friend (I think it was Havesomesoma) and in walks Carl. Ok, I've never met Carl so this is kinda weird but I whisper in HSS's ear that it's Carl from the message board. Then for some reason I start saying "Carrrrrrl" and rolling my r's, which I guess is considered purring. That's pretty much the whole dream, just me purring Carl's name. Then I woke up and laughed and felt really weird and disoriented.

This illusrates what can happen when you check the board and go immediatley to sleep.

Dammit! Why doesn't this ever happen in real life!?! No girl's ever rolled her "r"s for me. I'm not sure what that means...

funny... i never do... and i never thought that people did... hehe.. i just never questioned it. I *always* dream in third person... it's weird... I'm just like a spectator camera in Quake III, but I'm playing as well... huh. I guess that's kind of weird.

I'd like to dream in first person at some point.

My roommates tell me that I do a lot of weird shit in my sleep... randomly my eyes will come open... I'll sit up in bed... I'll randomly scream "NO!"... talk about rabbits and the such... apparently I freak my roommate william out a lot. hehe.

In my dreams, I usually alternate between my own POV and an on-lookers. I usually start out as myself, then I am watching myself. My dream last night was from my POV completely, which is very odd for me.
My dream was about someone from this messageboard actually. But, it was a good one. No dying or fighting or venues blowing up.
I think it's pretty neat that we (the people on this messageboard) tend to dream about each other so much.

This is of couse just a rumor.

Well, she did say that she hasn't met me, so it's entirely possible...

Also, I don't care for Ed. I find it trite. Carol Vessey (sp?) is super-fine, though.

Yep.. I'm very surprised anyone saw that episode other than me. I find very few people know what I'm talking about when I mention the show.

My two best friends are obsessed with that and Alias. I just don't get it. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that they don't have cable.

FYI: Clem Snide plays the theme song on Ed, or at least they used to. Clem Snide (for those who missed previous notices) will be at the Exit/In on Monday, March 10.

I also have a friend who is really into Ed. (She's the one who showed me the lucid dreaming episode.) She's really into Alias, too. I wonder what it is about those two shows that would attract the same people.

Would it be healthy to lucidly dream to the degree that Ed does in that episode? If you could enter your dreams and essentially be a god, why wouldn't you spend most of your life sleeping?

This is another reason I don't like this show. They had the best theme song ever ("Next Year" by the Foo Fighters), but they had to go screw it up by using this far lesser tune.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, this show is directly up against That 70s Show. Not good for Ed.

Is your friend into chicks? The common theme to both of this shows is sexy young lead actresses (although I find Jennifer Garner to be highly overrated).

I might be mistaken.. but it seems like NBC had to replace the theme song because of some copyright law or something to the effect... at least, I think I remember reading that somewhere.

I never thought the topic would turn to "Alias" but I have to say that while I don't watch "Ed," I think that "Alias" is one of the most consistently entertaining, well-written, well-acted, innovative and best edited shows on TV. Every episode is like watching a mini-movie....it's great. And the way that they use the whole spy genre as a metaphor for a disfunctional family is very cool. Of course, I'm all about the shows that have a fantastical outside layer that hides a very real interior. Most people don't look past the fantastical. As HaveSomeSoma and IWantElvis can attest, I get into many arguments trying to explain that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is not about vampires at all. Oy.

And ditto Carl, I did like hearing "Next Year" when "Ed" came on.

And I also don't find Jennifer Garner that attractive, although I do believe that she is an amazing actress. She is cute, but she is no Tina Fey or brunette Emma Cualfield....

is jennifer garner the chick in alias? she is hott. but she doesn't compare to the love of my life, laura pepron, or however you spell it from that 70s show. (the girl who plays donna) jesus she is sexy.

As a devout follower of Ed I can confidently say that "Next Year" is again the theme song. There never was a copyright issue, it was just more fitting of a song for the first season. I do know Letterman is a HUUUUGE Foo Fan. You will hear "Everlong" going out of a break at least once a week. And whenever the Foos are in town, they play Dave, and usually play two songs. Their current hit, and Everlong. So my gut tells me it was put back on because of him.

I was in the camp of "I don't see the Jennifer Garner thing" until I went to Daredevil. My wife now has several brochures from local dojos to choose from.

And back to Ed, I think it is one of the most well written shows to come along since Northern Exposure. That whole lucid dream episode had me grinning from ear to ear. It was like Northern Exposure meets Ed. Fabulous. The thing I love about Ed is the stamp of Dave throughout. His favorite funny name, "Kenny" is all over the place. There's a "house of pie" in Stuckeyville. You can tell Rob Burnett sends the scripts over to the "Big Guy" and he punches them up adding his little stamps. Fabulous.

Last night I had yet another weird dream. In this one, I was in Nashville. I had parked my car in some kind of public parking lot behind some apartments. I had been talking about how lucky I was that I hadn't had my car broken into yet. Well, later in the dream, after attending some sort of party, we heard a Ben Folds Five CD playing in my car. And, I was like, "Wait a second. We shouldn't be hearing that! My car doors are closed." (It didn't occur to me that the car shouldn't be ON.) So, I ran down there, any one of the doors was ajar. I looked in, and someone had stolen my radio, but not my CD player. See, in 96 Civics the CD player is separate from the radio and CD controls. It's weird, I know. But, they didn't even bother to steal the CD player, so it confused me. AND, they stole all of my school books in my car, aside from my Elementary Stats book, which was the most expensive. So, I was really upset about that, too.
I really don't know what's going on in my head.

I loved Northern Exposure; so much that I used to tape all the episodes. And in an "Ed" pseudo-related note, my favorite Northern Exposure character was Ed.

I had a dream last night (errr... this afternoon) that I was on some kind of tour group.. and it was weird because everyone in the group was supposed to choose a nickname to go by so they'd be anonymous. I was like "how easy, I'll use my messageboard name..." but then I heard this little chubby boy (probably around 10) say "I'm gonna be.... WEENYSMACK!"

I was very VERY irritated by this... and stressed at the same time because now I had to think of a new name... then my phone rang and woke me up... It was very strange.

After the amazing show, I went home and had this dream that HaveSomeSoma and I were inside a church/school and Roger walked by and waved at us. Then Parrish came up and shook my hand and then starting talking to me in this effeminate voice. He said "Did we do good? Did we sound tight and together?" Of course I said yes.

Then I woke up and I had to tell this odd dream to IWantElvis, Damon and his girlfriend when we went to O'Charley's. IWE was excited.

Then I woke up again, realizing that I had dreamed a dream in my dream...all from my POV. Wow.

I almost always dream in my own point of view, but not always.

Last night I had a very good dream, for a change. Ray Davies, Brother Love, Richard Dawson, and I were in Nashville seeing The Strokes perform and I was in the front row. I was so happy. I remember I was like "yay, I can't believe they finally came back to Nashville".

So, this gives me hope that my dream will come true after they release their new album and they will come back to Nashville this summer. I'm sure that won't happen though.

On a similar note, do you guys dream in color or black and white?

I always dream in color and can't imagine it being in black and white.

Hmm...that reminds me of another time that the particular cast you named went to a Strokes concert (*a six hour tour, a six hour tour*). It was not in Nashville though and it did not turn out so happily. For us and my truck...sigh, sniff sniff.

On a lighter note, I think that they probably will come back to Nashville. This, considering they didn't play during the Weezer tour (like they were supposed to) and they did not come during the tour previous to that. We can only hope...

Yes, things could have been much better on that trip...but, of course, I still loved it. I believe it could have made for a semi-interesting movie. It did involve a large amount of people riding in a small vehicle for a long period of time to go see a "rock show"...only to eventualy end up in a prison for about seven hours and with a semi-totalled truck (wimper).

I could hope that they will come back to Nashville this summer, but I just don't want to get my hopes up. If they come anywhere within six hours or so though, I'll probably be there...despite past experiences.

and the same thing goes for the white stripes. i had a dream last week that i was with jack white in my high school cafeteria and he gave me a bottle of scented oil as a present. maybe the bottle of oil symbolized a nashville show.

I think it's possible that people did imagine things in black and white before movies and television.. Althought it probably was not as detailed... Way back when they still had black and white photography.. and even before that artists sketched things in black and white, right?

I don't know... I also wonder if everyone else sees the same colors that I do.. Is it possible that what I think is blue.. someone else might call red because they've always been told that that color that they see is red??

Having assorted eye problems myself, double vision, sensitivity to light, vision has always fascinated me. On many occasions I've pondered whether we all see color differently, and how so, most people look at me like I'm retarded.

I never liked Northern Exposure. My mom used to watch it when I was little, and I was always like "oh, no, not this show again". I don't know, I guess it was too wildernessy for me. However, I do enjoy some Jon Corbet-Sex and the City style.

it'll be quite a huge task to find those--they're at my parents house, amidst 500 other unmarked vhs tapes. i also used to tape episodes of 120 minutes; it would be fun to go back and watch those. you think they'd put out a dvd set.

I have wondered this same thing myself for years. when i was in high school, my biology told me that some people see a 4th primary color. it is what other people see as a light shade of gray. yet they also see gray. it may not be true. but it brings up a few interesting questions.

one of those has already been mentioned. another - can you imagine a different and new coor without using the colors we already know? he said it was a primary coor meaning that its not like purple ( composed of red and blue) etc. so this would be an entirely new color. something that, at least in my head, i find it impossible to fathom.

When I try and think of how one would describe a color to a blind person, I go equally cross-eyed with stupidity. I too, cannot fathom...

This is thoroughly facinating. I remember reading once that bees' eyes are sensitive to ultraviolet frequencies, yet insensitive to some red parts of our visual spectrum. I've often wondered what to make of all of that. I guess that this 4th primary color would be ultraviolet or infrared... interesting to examine.

Of course, I guess that none of this is possible for us to imagine. The closest you could do is get some film that is sensitive to UV or IR frequencies and see where you notice differences between that and normal black and white film... it'd be an interesting experiment to see where these other "colors" pop up.

But I wanted to share with you all my most recent dream... it was very VERY strange indeed...
I was in my backyard at some type of family cookout.. my dad was preparing lots of red, bloody looking meat for us to eat (I am a vegetarian, but it didn't seem discusting).. I was late for work (for some reason I was dreading the long swim I'd have to endure to get there).... and Alan Jackson kept hanging on me telling me not to go (I detest country music, Alan Jackson, and would never EVER let anyone that has long, skanky blond hair and cowboy boots touch me.... EVER!!)

I was disturbed.. not really sure what I expect you all to say about it... but ICK!

I'm pretty good at interpreting dreams so let me take a swing at this. I think that in this dream "Alan Jackson" represents Western Society. You feel oppressed by the Capitalist machine. You want to go to work, but you feel that money-driven society keeps you from pursuing the career you'd like to have.

If that doesn't work for you, we can try my famous "Man vs. Nature" interpretation. Or maybe "Alan Jackson" can represent all men, and you're afraid of intimacy with men.

I'd say you're right about that.... I was just talking to my friend about how I want to give up school and become a potter (by potter I mean someone who makes pots). My major (and life in general) is exerting way too much pressure on me at the moment and I just want to be free... to create things that reflect my feelings without having to deal with doing things the "right" way...

Okay, I'm an animal lover(and a vegetarian), and I had this terrifying dream a couple of weeks ago. My sister (also an animal lover and a vegetarian) and I were trying to go somewhere and we had to pass this house in order to get to our destination of choice. This house we had to approach and pass was some kind of taxidermy. We literally had to climb over stuffed animals. We were traveling by foot and also had to climb this ladder which overlooked hundreds of stuffed animals. I mean this place was covered, you couldn't even see ground or sky for the stuffed animals. Off to the right, there was a huge (like the size of a mansion) goat head. It was terrifying...and weird.

I'm not a bit surprised. About 90% of the population will use Alan Jackson as a symbol of capitialistic oppression in their dreams.

it would have been even weirder if it were a buffalo head......

ha ha...I don't know, the goat head was pretty weird. However, I'm sure there were buffalo heads in the dream, along with all the other poor animals.

i have this odd reoccuring dream where my plumber kidnaps me and my friend. my plumber sorta looks like mario, so we're always running on brick walls and dodging plants and whatnot. it's quite the adventure.

i also have a lot of nightmares about clowns. as a young child, i was kidnapped by a clown at a parade once. that was very traumatic for me. luckily, my friend's dad tackled the clown before he got very far, so i'm able to tell you this story today.

lately ive been having really intense dreams and have been really into interpreting them and theyve been very symbolic. its weird though bc my bff also at the same time started havin these dreams...

You have to be kidding. That could quite possibly be the most frightening thing that could ever happen to a person. The only thing that could make it worse is if it was the clown outside of the magic shop in "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure". I always had to hide underneath my blanket during that part, and still do...

now when i see clowns, i start to twitch and say things that make no sense. once i was with a friend and we saw a clown and she said "hey mr. clown! my friend wants a hug!!" so he came and chased me all over wal-mart till he finally got a hug. i was in tears at this point. later, i found out that it was another friend's dad, so that eased the pain slightly, but it was still very traumatic.

last night i had an interesting dream. i was at kroger. at the end of the check out lanes, there sat my school principal at his desk. my friend sarah was sitting on the other side looking upset. she was going insane. then she screamed "i'm drunk and high, all at once!!!!!!!!!!!!" and fell down in a seisure. it was pretty funny. when i told her about this dream today, she informed me that at the precise time that the dream occurred she actually was "high as a kite." we're both open to the possibility that i am able to connect to her mind and know her thoughts. how about that?

man, I had a frightening dream last nite. I was Shelley Duvall in 'The Shining.' Basically it was the movie, except it took place at my Grandma's house, and every now and then I was Gwyneth Paltrow. My kid wasn't scary either. It was pretty bloody and gruesome, though. But I'm not sure which is scarier, in retrospect: dreaming of being in 'The Shining' or being shelley duvall.

but if you were shelley duvall, you'd get to be olive oyl in that popeye movie with robin williams. i yam what i yam!

Faerie Tale Theatre...one of my favorite shows from my childhood. I always loved the "Cinderella" one (starring Jennifer Beals, and Matthew Broderick), Rumpelstiltskin (starring Duvall, herself), and "The Frog Prince" (also featuring Robin Williams). My favorite was "The Snow Queen" starring Melissa Gilbert and Lee Remick.

I dreamed two nites ago that I was being sent to a concentration camp, and I was packing my stuff, and I realized I didn't have a portable cd player, so I was having to sort thru all of my old mixed tapes to find something to bring. Then I got on this messageboard, and was like, "hey remember that topic we had about what albums we would take if we could only take our top 5? Well, I'm actually IN that situation presently..it kinda sucks, but here's what I'm taking.." Man, that creeped me out.

I had a dream not too long ago that I was eating lunch with Tom Selleck and kept trying to tell him how good he was in Boogie Nights and Evening Shade. I was getting him mixed up with Burt Reynolds. For the life of me I couldn't think of the obvious smash-hits he was in like Mr. Baseball and Cop and a Half.

i had a dream once that this guy was a killer and he could morph his face to look differently like in the michael jackson video black or white. he was evil and he scared me into helponig him. among his evils were killing and forcing people to litter.

One of the worst dreams that I have ever had was that I was in a third world country that I traveled to I have no idea where I was but I was robbed, beat and I was lost and I couldn't get in touch with any of my friends and family I ended up sleeping under brush adn large leaves I was shivering in the cold at night and I can just remeber feeling the pain from being beaten. My lip was bleeding adn my hair and clothes were soaking wet adn I was curled up in a ball. It was a horrible dream I was crying in my dream and when I woke up from the dream i had huge tears just rolling. I hate it when I wake up after a freaked out sad dream.

ive reread a lot of this topic and i dont know why i never posted.

i almost always "lucid dream"
i rarely dont know im dreaming and am rarely not in control of whats going on.
and even if i didnt create my situation and surrondings i can make conscious decisions.

this morning my mom woke me up from my dream that i was on a massive shopping spree. i dont think there is any hidden meaning in that one. i just really want to go shopping.

I didn't wake up until 1:30 in the afternoon today. My alarm was set for nine. I hit snooze that entire time. This happens often. I blame it all on dreams. I wake up and I go back to sleep because I'm in the middle of a dream. This continues for hours until my dream is to a satisfactory stopping point, then I am content with getting out of bed. I honestly cannot help it. People fuss at me for sleeping so late like I'm a lazy bum. I really don't have any control over it though. It's not even like I'm waking up and thinking "I don't want to get up because I like this dream, so I won't". It's more like, the part of me that knows I need to get up has no say in it because every other part of my body says I'm still in the dream state. It's frustrating. It was a nice dream though, and now I can't remember much of it.

Not only have I had dreams about my teeth falling out but also my hair and body limbs as well! They scare the hell out of me because those dreams seem so real and painful to me.

i just woke up. i dreamed that i saw a yellow sign on the side of mcdonalds that said the features will be playing the exit/in on august 5th. i stole the sign (which was bigger then me) and started walking home. i started feeling really guilty bc it obviously had just gone up today. i finally got to a friends house to watch their new video. i remember they really messed up the info on it. calling them a different band and messing up the album title. the title for the new album was "yeah yeah yeah sprouts" and the video had mariah carey and 50 cent and it was really really bad.

Well, I'm proud to say this dream has some relevance.

In my dream: Derek and I were watching a late night talk show like your David Letterman. This Moody Blues type band was on as the musical guest. Well, the guy who just stands there and sings and does silly dances was replaced with none other than our own JamieCarroll. (applause) He was very good, and Derek and I just commented on how much better he was than all of his other bandmates. That was basically it, sans a steamy love scene, but I won't go into that.
