Since I don't know how to put up links, go to E! news. It should be there. Its on Yahoo too.

Basically says that the coroner is unsure that the stab wound was self inflicted. They are reinvestigating the death.

Crazy shit.

Jeez...if ever a criminal had a chance at changing my anti-death penalty view...for some reason I'm glad they didn't find any drugs in his system & I don't know why that should matter to me. It's almost worse to kill yourself (?) sober, really. But I guess it at least supports the notion that he was healing his life in some aspects in the months before his death & I like that idea.

Not to mention the question of whether or not it would have been more or less tragic if he was indeed clean and sober.

I think it will make his death that much more heart-wrenching if he was murdered after finally being clean-- or at least during a clean period of his life. On the other hand, in my mind, it does a great deal to restore his honor if this wasn't just another "junkie suicide". I'm sorry, but I think there's a certain amount of inescapable shame invloved in suicide-- no matter what the circumstances. Not to say those who kill themselves are disgraced-- I just think Smith's memory will be better served if this turns out to be a homicide. Once again, it'll be all the more tragic.

I hope his uncompleted album will be finished tastefully and released to wide-spread acclaim. I hope it serves his memory well.
